  • I was a metal worker. So I use grinders quite a lot. I've seen discs explode, (quite regularly) I've seen people catch loose clothing in them and the grinder has climbed up them and hit them square in the teeth. I've had it happen to me and luckily my tshirt jammed it up just below my neck. I've seen all kinds of accidents with them. Even a fine disc can chew flesh up VERY quickly. I just would never use a grinder without anything but 100% respect. As manufacturer intended. Edit: it's cool to read the working men of the world in agreement with regards to safety, because I know it comes from experience and respect for yourself, your trade and tools. Also, it's nice to have a shared experience and respect with people in the trade from round the globe.

    • I'm a hobbiest metal worker, self taught. I have experience working with a ton of different materials. Luckily, i grew up working with stuff kind this. And still, when I started working with metal a bit more, i learned that it's a different beast, just like you said. I've bad several disks explode, but i always have on my safety gear. The very first time one that exploded was a chop saw, and one of the pieces got me right in the middle of my safety glasses. I would be blind or dead if I didn't have them on. I've had a few grinders hit my boots and gloves. And that's me being as safe as I could be. What I'm saying here is this: listen to the man above be, he knows what he's talking about! Don't learn the hard way! If anyone thinks they can control an angle grinder when it gets caught up on something, you're wrong. They turn so fast and are so powerful that wherever it wants to go, it's going. Take your time and don't cut corners. And please, please respect your tools, wear your safety gear, and take the advice of the professional above me. This stuff is no joke. If you're not sure what you're doing, ask someone who does. If something doesn't feel right, don't turn it on! Much respect for the folks out there doing this every day. Be safe everyone!

    • 100% Agree with everything you said. Just wanted to point out that wheel with the chain saw teeth on it with out a safety guard. This could be very useful indeed but, just imagine what would happed if you had a snag and dropped the grinder. If you have ever dropped one and seen it take off full throttle it's scary. Now a disk full of chisel teeth that would climb up your jeans and attack you like a wild bob cat!!

  • Yes, some of these attachments look pretty lethal - but others would be really useful. Any tool is potentially dangerous in unskilled hands. You can drive a slipping chisel or screwdriver deep into your hand, or suddenly remove a finger with a sharp hand saw. It's about taking care, considering risks, and _always_ using correct protection. The chain saw on an angle grinder should be off the market! And brittle disks used on a/grinders can explode at high revs, or if they twist in use.

Jedna z věcí ve videu co se opakuje stále dokola.... Flexa. Kotouč rotuje naopak, takže ti při seknutí skočí do klína. Velikost kotouče neodpovídá velikosti flexky. Nepoužití krytu kotouče je asi největší prasárna, špona a nebo prasklý kotouč umí udělat pěknou paseku. Příště lépe a s rozumem prosím.

  • 22:55 *_There is one, but a very big minus of this factory solution. Why do chainsaws use a centrifugal type clutch? In order for the cutting chain to stop immediately when the speed is dropped. And on the angle grinder, the chain will stop until the anchor itself stops. In which case, a few seconds is enough to seriously injure yourself._*

  • Some of those grinder attachments are quite heavy, consider the centrifugal force at 11k rpms of those carbide teeth on that blue wheel for example, if it came off it would be like a bullet with no fender guard to arrest its departure would possibly be enough to pass through a face shield even, even if not, how about your lightly clothed body? Think of even the chainsaw teeth flying at you! Many items that wont fit in that 4.5" guard are not intended to be ran that fast, and likely to eventually come apart or become violently unbalanced if over-revved. In the past I have done this, and also got away with it thank GOD but have been more and more concerned and working to get larger guards in place. One day I didnt pay attention to the max rpm on the new wheel I was excited to try out, it exploded and became unbalanced with such force the shaft of the tool bent and even broke through the housing holding it. Thankfully the escaped pieces didnt hit me, since they were moving so fast I still havent found them. My point is when you do some thing like this it always feels like there will be some warning and time to react. But there isnt, its just over and if there is no guard to take the blow, most likely you will. I enjoyed the video but it was lacking of safety a good bit!

But I think common sense will prevent you from putting a rivet thru your nose. P.S. Intentional or not, you come off sounding a bit condescending, warning us clumsy fools of certain mutilation/death. Some of these attachments are just accidents waiting to happen. There is no safe way for your average person to use them. I've been doing first aid in manufacturing for twenty years. I've seen what happens when even well designed equipment encounters poorly skilled humans. These attachments are not well designed.
