The gold star definitely helped bring the box back, also those tropical sets. For a video? Worth it. For a normal person? I'd like them to sweeten the deal a little bit more.

Honestly though that's not a terrible deal for your slightly above average collector, but I'd be pressed never to buy these unless you're expecting to lose money. I'd never let some random decide what goes into my $1000. Just feels like you could be cheated very hard very easily.
They made 10% on the box, U can't expect them to lose money on every box
@@joeh858 usually they would find all the items at better prices, e.g he put $900 worth of items, but probably paid like $750/$800 for the items, maybe less or more. But that’s why rev was saying he’d like to see more than $1000 worth of items
Exactly. Poke rev priced those celebrations products high. Makes you think with the current market. If someone kept tons of sealed products and just bought bangers as singles they could make a 1k mystery box with a few $3 vintage booster packs.

The whitening and print line... you can tell that card's been sitting in his shop forever so he chucked it in as the "big hitter" item.
@@GlassEater420 True I guess but you can't really complain about a gold star. At least I wouldn't. For someone like me who can't even afford regular modern day packs, I'd never complain if I got any of the cards in the custom packs. I'm just saying that the gold star was extremely surprising lol

indeed mystery box really feel fishy, I bought a few mystery box in japan itself and is all junk which cost around 150 to 300 dollar each . After that I never purchase anymore mystery box.

For a mystery box that was pretty good. Given the 1k price tag I had high hopes and it delivered. It had new, it had vintage, it had a toy and things you've never owned and I've never seen. Gives a great variety for anybody in pokemon that can afford it. Unfortunately for me I never will be able to.

Love these types of videos. Can you possibly do one on booster boxes bought on Amazon? The reviews are always super mixed and collectors tell you to not buy from them. Definitive answer may be helpful especially with holidays coming up

You can’t really expect too pull over $1000 worth of stuff. The seller has to pay for shipping and product I mean he can’t lose money or he’ll not be doing mystery boxes for very long. That was a good box for sure!
Exactly, sure the seller probably gets decent bulk prices so he has a margin to play with, but honestly getting different sort of stuff, and over 90% of the value in raw products, one of the better mystery boxes I've seen.

Honestly this wasn't too bad at all! While the value didn't quite add up to $1,000, there was a lot of variety and some pretty cool vintage products. In the seller's defense as well it seems like they may have priced out a lot of the items when they were at a bit of a higher value.

If you noticed every single one of those loose cards had an issue whether it being oc, played ect even the gold star and a huge print line going through the middle no way worth the money. Looks like the cards were rejects from the sub pile
I think the value to get to 1,000 is what they were writing on the back. Where you had cards at $15, they showed as $20 or something more. So, maybe they used a different source for their prices. Still seemed like a lot of good stuff though.

Yea but you usually put above value to get repeat customers. Once I saw the prices on the cards I knew he wasn't going to get his 1k back.
@@cris5244 I'm pretty sure they valued the celebrations etb and chu box way over msrp, which for them added up to 1k. But we all know in reality they are not worth the scalper prices. Your right they should put over the 1k value for repeats.

I dunno, I mean, as someone who sells mystery packs myself, it doesn’t make sense from a business perspective to sell boxes worth more than what they’re paid for. Even if I get people at 10-20% below what they paid, I still think that’s a good deal because I have a lot of singles sleeves worth $50+ that have a fair chance of going into the packs but I HAVE to make some packs worth a little less in order to make a profit. PLUS, these mystery boxes that do hit that 10-20% less than what you paid are still WAY better than buying an evolving skies booster box ($300+ as of this comment) and pulling less than $100 in value, if that. It’s not really fair to expect $1000 in value from a mystery seller when you CAN and DO turn around and buy booster boxes from Pokémon company, KNOWING that the odds are 100% not in your favor. Anyone who opens Pokémon cards knows that they’re not going to reach what they paid for them when buying ETBs, Boosters, etc…
Honestly, I got the same exact necrozma V full art and it has the same issues on the top, so it may just be a printing problem.
I think they did really well on the loose cards they should of put a bunch of loose packs or one more etb and would of been perfect

I can tell the joy you had opening it. So i say yea. You also have to know you wont make ya money back. Some do some dont. It has to balance out. That why it a risk.
Salamance vmax rainbow had 90° corners on the card when he took it out of its card saver. The camera cuts to what looks to be the back of the same card but yet the corners are now radiused and rounded. Trying to understand why he would switch the cards. What's the point? Go to 5:07 and look at the corners of the card for yourself. Corners change shortly after.

Rev, the older WOTC Cards were printed with darker backs. The newer modern cards all have light backs, so that is not a faded card.
No risk no reward, love these kind of videos and the excitement you show in opening these. You can really tell how much you love what you do.

I would definitely argue this isn't worth the 1000$ because they're getting rid of product and you might not even get those prices for that much. The value should definitely be around 1050$ since some of the items you'll probably get less then market value, especially the singles.

They legit just got a purchase order and went through their collection throwing in stuff until they met a specific value. Its not like they prepacked these and one has more chance at a bigger hit than another.
Don't think the seller was trying to shoot for under a thousand, but rather where he got his prices from were different from where you got your prices from. Regardless, awesome video!! Always love watching your excitement through these openings!

Remember pulling the gold star gyrados and a bunch of rare cards from this era. Had them stolen from by friend at the time… he still lives in the same house today from what I hear and I always wonder if he still has them :/

That Gyarados was my childhood. I remember pulling it and immediately placing in my large binder. Years later it stayed with me in my small collection. I eventually lost it (either in moving, or someone got rid of them) and have since waited for the day I get the money to buy another. Dope box man!
Not terrible. The condition of the cards isn't the best though. The gold star card was cool to see.

Getting the CAPITALIZATION right was SPOT on!
Sadly there is a major crease in the middle of it so It will automatically get a low grade sadly. So if just for a personal keeper yes I would grade it
