Can we beat life with only archaeology
Great great great grandparents is the real MVP
lol yeah
@@whyamihere-be7hgwhat do you mean “beat life”? real life is only on v1.0.1, we plan to add it in v2.0.0
10:37 "The bed just isn't as cozy as a box sometimes" Spoken like a true cat
Ikr lol
I appreciate your honesty... nah mate you definitely did it right. you just had to restore your save manually.
ibxtoychad proving honesty isn't dead on youtube
ibxtoychad is the realest thing i've ever heard
You could have smelted 27 iron axes for a bucket
Sounds very fun
Because... minecraft logic xD or it's one really big bucket
he wasn't allowed to craft
no crafting
It holds one cubic meter of lava and you don't burn your hands, yeah I'd say it's a big bucket.
You're insane bro how did you have enough sanity to dig thousands of blocks just for a portal
a portal that didn't even work
@@nicolaswinsor5989That's the worst part😂
Fun Fact: The Basalt Delta is the OBJECTIVELY BEST Nether biome, because it's evil and it sucks and the Nether is _supposed_ to be an awful place, therefore its doing its job better than any other biome. XD
Its my favourite because its the most exciting and visually stunning to me
I raise you the soul sand valley at least with the delta you could hide from ghasts and not get shot by skeleton
I'd say that the best of the worst is the nether wastes. At least the soul sand valley and basalt deltas can be kinda pretty and give you a nice view.
FACTS
@@JamieElli Honestly? Soul sand freaks me out.
I think that you have done your objective: beating Minecraft using archaeology. What a feat too. I probably would have given up when I noticed the world is gone. Good job.
It's awesome you're honest with the situation during the shooting of this run and I completely understand that. You went through the amount of effort and didn't wanna repeat just cause crap happened, I think we all lost some important world of ours at least once. You even had to put additional effort into making sure the world was perfectly recreated as before and it's completely reasonable imo, repeating the whole run would be just a waste of your precious time, you put daily into making great videos. Great job Toycat, love your videos! 💛
I HAVENT FEAD UR COMMENT BUT I LIKED IT AND GAVE THIS REPLY oops caps
@@lucky_block_head That's nice 😅
lol @@paveldobcz23 im just realizing i miss spelled read
I adore archeology. Digging out trail ruins has become my new Minecraft obsession 😂
ive never found one
@@lucky_block_headit's because theres a bug that only effects specific Android devices where the trail ruins literally cannot spawn
you could say you dug out the old world with archeology. An ancient people destroyed the save game but you brushed through the video and discovered the seed which was in an ancient version
ah the challenge run of theseus i think it's absolutely considered valid, it doesn't change anything about the actual challenge aspect. honestly if you just kept the same inventory and continued from there i don't think anyone would've questioned it
I love this channel, no bs, no unnecessary stiff, funny lines and puns and arduous challenges.
Although it wasn't how you ended up doing it, the artificial ravine tech is the type of creativity that sets exceptional challenge videos apart from others. The whole manually re-making the world part is just a cherry on top; seriously, _down to the xp?_
Sad that this video isn't getting love. Appreciate all the work that went into this! Wonder if it needs a different title? I don't know! As for the message at the end, I think all the other on-the-fly rules -changes- interpretations were more of a thing than recopying the world haha. But very entertaining and clearly a lot of work. Appreciate you sticking through it and just as a practical matter, even more appreciate you finishing it and releasing it.
Already watched the member only video yesterday but cant wait to watch this one too. Toycat is Yes!
that’s what i’m doing rn too!!
We appreciate the honesty bro to be honest it was a mistake to delete the world a lot of creators probably would not have told us so thx for being a true man and telling us
appreciate the honesty toycat and, to be honest with you, its kinda more impressive to recreate your whole run.
I think why everyone forgot about archeology is because it’s virtually useless, There is nothing encouraging people to do archeology
You're right. Its not very satisfying to dig out a trail ruin for an hour with a slow brush only to get dye and stained glass.
@@lasercraft32 yeah I like it as a concept but it's pretty lacking. The only reason I still do it is because of the pottery shop I have on a server. I currently have a monopoly on sherds because nobody is sane enough to go get them.
Yeah it truly does seem like mojang doesn’t know how to make anything interesting since the caves update
@@lasercraft32 Nah fr, Archeology is boring, Useless, And time consuming. Cool concept for sure but completely lacking anything.
Thanks for the honesty. I think that recognizing the problem and your solution only shows your dedication to the challenge and not deceit.
your dilemma at the end is like the ship of theseus
Digging the ruins out is actually really fun ngl.....I've done it once already, and will definitely be doing it again.
I love replacing mining with archaeology/exploration, it makes the game a fun slow burn, taking your time. And it changes the value of items, like iron becomes as valuable as diamond because they're both similarly rare
you did great! nothing wrong with manually recreating a save :3
Finding a sniffer was terrible. I decided to go and finally get all the 1.17+ achievements. On my main survival world, the search for 1 SNIFFER EGG added 200MB to my world. For this, I made the sniffer's pen a jail cell.
did it really??
I found my first sniffer egg on my 2nd try....the 2nd sniffer egg (for a breeding pair) took at least a dozen warm ocean ruins. I lost count tbh.
The reason why I forget about archeology is because I never find the ruins
Watching you destroy that sand to make a portal while a Wandering Trader spawned with a bucket of tropical fish was painful. But I respect your Dedication! Also shame about the world deletion but yeah, it's fine, you handled it well by replicating it. GG
I can’t handle this level of honesty! But it 100% counts. Appreciate the disclosure Catman
I love the honesty. you have been my 2nd favorite Minecraft youtuber, (seconded by dantdm, (you and him were my childhood youtubers).
You have gone above and beyond to beat Minecraft in this series! Your commitment is honourable! And I for one appreciate your honesty rants! Thank you! ❤
Gotta respect the extra effort put into recreating the old save. But I'm not sure if it would've been less work to just start the whole challenge over.
I do really appreciate your transparency and honesty, it's quite the breath of fresh air. Also what a wild challenge lol I'm impressed u did it
Congrats on archaeologically beating Minecraft! 👏👏👏
I love your videos so much!! I'm watching this at 3 am after waking up with a stomach ache but it's actually so soothing 😂
technically you could've used 3 diamonds looted from the sus sand sections of desert pyramids along with some ""archaeologically discovered"" logs from clay pots in order to make a diamond pickaxe for the portal, though honestly the hell that would be looting 3 pyramids like that would likely not be much better than the lava pit tech in the end
Thanks for the honesty. A part of me wants you to actually redo the challenge. Another part questions your sanity on why you make these challenges.
Why does the Enderdragon look like its animated with half the frames in Bedrock Edition?
Egg of an extinct species would be a palaeontological find though?
he did place down the sniffer egg outside of the his nether portal. what were you talking about?
It's the same save, you just deleted a few chunks accidentally and recreated it
If I tried to do this in my world it would be a death sentence I don't know if I discovered everything already before the update, it's a glitch or something else but every single warm ocean has not but even a single grain of suspicious sand
Great video! Great concept! Keep it up!
This is extremely impressive! Imo you've beat the game in the only way possible using archeology so I wouldn't worry about the world changing thing :D
I knew there was a problem with that first lava pool when you started placing the dirt :-(.
I appreciate your toycat dedication, have a great day!
Yeah, when I saw the two bottom blocks I said oh-oh. It was later finding the lava wasn't available deeper that was the downer.
this is a really cool challenge and also, the ocean ruins is my favorite structure
hey toycat, would you consider abandoned/zombie villages to be old?
I consider any structure currently occupied as not old. So Nether structures are modern.
Love the honesty and yes it counts love these challenges
The dedication…. I would be tempted to give up more than anything so, kudos to you!
In regards to the eyes of ender, killing a mob with TNT you got from archeology still feels like you used archeology to get the item, imho, at least in the same way as breaking a chest with an axe from archeology counted.
"I completed minecraft 1 and a half times using archaeology"
Really appreciate your honesty and increased the notifications because of that
Aw, i thought you were going to kill the dragon throwing armor trims and pottery shards at it.
not your fault Mojang released an update that straight deleted peoples worlds... Not only did u have to deal with that, but also perfectly recreated the state your world was in to continue. tbh u did more work than you would've done than just on the same world bc of it. :) happy you were able to complete the vid either way. And the honesty in the end is v respectul. This truly does seem like one of the most stressful ways to go about playing the game.
They should add a whip which you can only get from archeology as a mid range weapon and also an Indiana jones reference.
Terraria reference
The only time I've ever had issues telling if a crop was fully grown or not was with potatoes. Once you know what a fully grown one looks like its pretty easy to tell (at least for me).
I stand directly above them and make sure the hit-box filles the whole square. New texture packs adds to the challenge, although the Storytime pack makes wheat really obvious.
Definitely should be able to use a chest because you need a chest to put ancient items in a chest, therefore making the chest actually more ancient then the items inside
how did you get the brash? you need to craft that too
He started with it, unless the challenge would be impossible with all of the rules
Yeah but no way that only took one brush... Did he use a command to get a brush whenever it broke?
If you didn't give yourself any unfair advantages, then I say its perfectly fine. Stuff happens, and I don't blame you for not wanting to redo the whole grind all over again.
Cool challenge!
8:14 this melon heart hurt my soul, why does everyone insist on using tools for wood and melons, it's not that serious but if you're really worried about conserving your tools just use your fist LOL
Ngl, he seems like a really cool friend to have❤❤❤
I'd say a bastion is probably a newer structure, considering it's inhabited by piglins who are clearly civilized to some degree
Request: Beat Minecraft, but mobs have to kill skeleton archers, stray archers, pillagers, piglin archers, witches or evokers for you.
Mojang should add bones to the archeology drop table as it would fit pretty well with the theme
You could use emeralds to buy a bucket of fish from wandering trader or fisherman
He just crafted a pot- And he crafted gold ingots- And an orange bed-
You can find a village with a naturally gererating fisher cottage and with 3 emeralds trade for a bucket of cod
What about a deserted village? (The ones with zombie infestations and no villagers, cobwebs everywhere, they gotta be old and you know that)
i had an aneurysm trying to read the thumbnail
I’ve had a similar scenario where a save game gets corrupted or accidentally deleted, so i have to replay around 10+ hrs of gameplay. Except for me it happened with Cyberpunk, Fallout and Skyrim. Had to repeat the same main/side quests, getting items and everything i got preciously. sucks really lol
Loved the video smmmm!!!
a jungle temple, desert pyramid and ruined portal are also archeology bc they are old structures like ocean ruins
"archaeology has been out for almost a year now" *shows june 9, 2023 as the release date* *it's only eight months later*
dude gave the minecraft world ship of Theseus
At 32:20 keep your eays fixed on the 8 slot on the hotbar :/
An Iron Axe deals the same damage as a Stone Sword!? I didn't know Bedrock nerfed Axes THAT badly! In Java they do as much damage as a Netherite Sword! At least you can still enchant them!
1:25 This is why I always install the crop alert vanilla tweaks texture pack very first thing. Basically all the Utility options really.
installing packs on console is a nightmare
Who knew one song would make me relive my childhood in seconds 😢
4:47 you jumped onto a piece of farmland and it gave you a wheat seed, so, you in fact, did not beat Minecraft with only archeology.
Why would you not just break the melon with your hand??😂
Archeologists are seen as outdoorsy hippies. So I suspect they wouldn't kill any overworld mobs, not even in self-defense. Hmm... fishing? Hmm... maybe not. But there's berries. Yum. Perhaps another fan will set up some rules and complete the challenge. Being Peaceful in Survival and scrounging?
I meant to say something about not stealing from villagers. Maybe you could do some work for them? Also, not killing overworld mobs also would mean not putting lava in front of them or bumping them off a cliff.
As long as you’re open about what happened, I think this one’s valid. You’re honest to a fault. You’ll always be credible
he picked up a single piece of red sand without using the brush, how dare he
Yes, yes archeology is a mechanic that works...
You did beat the game with only archeology!
10:31 enderman in rain. ah yes a bedrock classic
I honestly didnt know archeology has been a thing in minecraft lmao
Desert temples have diamonds and TNT in their suspicious sand
The humor in this video is peak 👍
I didn't know you could break obsidian with a brush
im not gonna say this was the best method but if you can use items gained through archeology for their intended purpose then you should have been able to use the emeralds for trading and get a diamond pick that way. same with basically anything you would need, i mean... i wouldn't want to the guy who would have to do that but it would fit the rules better.
“Digging away, Digging away”
Melons and beds don't need an axe to break em-
Technically you failed the challenge by dying your bed orange, that used a crafting recipe.
Didn't need a Crafting Table tho
Cool vid
wouldn't abandoned structers like broken portals, jungle temples and the normal loot from desert temple count? I would imagen that the ocean monument count too.
Why are monsters spawning during the day without burning at a certain point? And then it starts raining but it can't rain in mesa biomes what
during Thunderstorms mobs can spawn even if it happens during the day. The rain prevents the mobs from burning, even though it doesn't rain in deserts or mesas
@@poluki yeah but I thought it'd still get cloudy and it didn't

if i attempted this i would have smashed my house irl
If you type /give @s brush 2 32000 you'll get 2 brush put it in your crafting grid you will get an unbreakable brush it works for armor and all tools
Wouldn’t a abandoned village count as ancient/old or are those no longer in the game
