Few political observers predicted Kim Jong-un’s daughter Ju-ae would be his likely successor when she made her first public appearance in November 2022. At the time, the elder Kim’s sister Yo-jong appeared to be a more likely heir apparent. But more than a year later, Ju-ae has become a constant presence at large-scale events, appearing at everything from missile launches to military parades. Her growing profile has forced the question: is Kim Ju-ae next in line to rule North Korea and become the reclusive state’s first female leader?

Kim Jong Un has a son that’s largely kept out of the public eye, like how Kim Jong un was as a child. They do this to protect the “heir apparent”. People forget Un was sent to school in Switzerland and was rarely seen by the North Korean public until he was already an adult. I doubt the plan is for either of these women to take power.

That's normal unfortunately since this is the only truth she knows. So she will still be "innocent" later on thinking that is how you go about things.
If anything, she will most likely be the worst of all the dictators before her. The "law" may recognize women as equal to men, but outside Kim Yo-Song, there are barely, if any Korean women in government, and with Korea's well-known patriarchal culture, it would be safe to assume that people such as the cabinet or the generals would be unwilling to take a woman seriously. Therefore, in order to cement herself, she will have to be the most cold and ruthless of them all, just to be respected.

A lot of analysts thing Yo Jong would be WORSE than Jong Un. She's just as ruthless as her brother, but a lot SMARTER and a lot less self indulgent. John Un loves having absolute power, but he uses a lot of that power just to pamper himself and live a life of luxury at the cost of his nation. And it looks like his daughter may be the same (like her dad, she is clearly chubby and eating very well.) Yo Jong does not seem like that, she wants that power to use it aggressively, and is likely to be far more proactive and less intimidated by the Western powers. To paraphrase what Julius Caesar said about Cassius "She has a mean and hungry look, I do not trust her."

I agree. The fact that the young girl is part of the public's perspective now is nothing except a pr stunt by Kim Jong Un. It's his way of pretenting to care for his family, which is supposed to be a metophor for his care of the North Korean people in general.

Blending in with the average Korean Joe and Jane is a safety measure for the North Korean elite to keep their offspring safe until they are fit (as educated adults) to take over in case of the death of the current leader.

North Korea will never let a woman be the leader it doesnt matter how smart a woman is. Kim is the supreme leader, his sister is smart but she will never be the King, the highest she can go and do is be part of the governments parliament like she is doing right now only. Samething goes to Kim's childrens, his daughter(s) can be part of the governments parliament but only a son will become the King and runs the country, no a woman will be the Supreme leader to run the country in a communist country. Even if Kim Jon Un died, they will never let his sister become the King, this is how communist country do. Kim never shows or reviews his son(s) in public, it's a secret to public so that Kim son(s) can attend college and university over sea without anyone notice before becoming the next King. And with Conservative President Yoon Suk Yeol as head honcho in the South, her rise to power will most likely escalate tensions and lead to war.

We didn't know about Kim Jong Un, either, until he ascended the "throne". Before that he was studying in Switzerland while hiding in plain sight as just a regular South Korean exchange student just like his sister 3 years later. None of us knew who they really were.
