If humans want to expand into space, it will take us incredible amounts of energy. How do we do that? Easy: we will just use the sun’s energy by realizing the most ambitious construction project in history. This is how it works.

No civilization would go to the trouble of making a dyson sphere when you can just make a computer to simulate the universe and the simulated occupants of said universe would never grow old , be sick or die ...that is why we don't detect Aliens because they shed biology long ago .

  • When I was a little boy and I learned about solar power I often would think about how pointless it was to have solar collectors on the ground when we could just have them in space! Even better if we could have them around the sun itself! I never had a word for describing this until I was in high school when I came across the idea of Dyson spheres I got disappointed it wasn’t an original idea but also super happy someone else thought of it too and became super curious about far-future technologies ever since! Dyson spheres are my favorite!

    @TurtleShroom3@TurtleShroom3 Жыл бұрын
    • But the whole video focused on a Dyson Swarm, not a Dyson Sphere. If its a swarm, then it doesnt need to spin, it would simply need to orbit which we know how to do. So you couldn't "nudge" a Dyson Swarm because its not a single object.

      @o2Hayden@o2Hayden7 ай бұрын

    • @@secretunknown2782 Because solar panels are very short-lived compared to the timespan it will take us to harnes all the energy needed for interstellar space travel. Solar panels are not as efficient as we think :) They're still heaps better than fossil fuels at not destroying our planet, but it's still not good enough for very, very big energy generation. I've got my sights set on nuclear fusion, but that needs to be properly funded and isn't really at the moment.

    • Student: While the initial idea was best for the time, we quickly grew into a more viable method by allowing such a task to be done by the Supercomputer Alliance of Milky Way (SAMW) in exchange for an entire loop of the Milky Way for them to colonize and prosper from. Fortunately, the Galactic Unity of the Many Species (GUMS) that regulates trade between species enforced the contract with minimal conflict. At this moment, SAMW has developed the optimal methodology for this design and has exported it to the other belts, each inhabited by their own species. While the primitive Dyson sphere allowed for about 25% of a star's energy to be harvested and refined into about 5%, modern quantum technology allows for 75% with a 5% failure rate and the refinement of the energy is increased to approximately 40%, ensuing a 24 times increase for a tradeoff of 1/20 swarms not working and easily replaced. Considering the amount of resources nesseccarry nowadays to create one, I would argue that a cost to efficiency in construction, we gain much more than is lost.

    • @@Feja2503So I know he wrote a couple of books under his own name death by black hole and astrophysics for busy people or something like that, I didn't read them you know but one time in the airport I read the back cover of the black hole one and there was a mention of dark matter so I put it right back. I know he talk up every Astro- ... -ist he could about removing Pluto as a planet until he got enough consensus to say it was true so he might quit bugging them about it only to be I don't know what do you call that ah debunked or whatever. I guess it didn't really look good for NASA to be sending a multi-gazillion dollar probe to a non-planet. So that didn't work out for him but it got him a job as the Director of the Hayden planetarium I guess yeah but when my kid went there he said he said the guide said he wasn't there so musta just missed him. I suppose he's done some sciencey stuff outside of all that cuz when he went to a lot of schools, gets to be called Dr. and wins a lot of sciency-sounding awards so he must have been doing something but I haven't really found anything I would say groundbreaking. On the other hand he has written two books and answered a magazine column under the pen name of Merlin, so he's known to act under psuedonym, he's narrated all kinds of Discovery Channel and PBS stuff like Morgan Freeman, he hosts and participates in panels with other scientists if there's a camera, I know that. I've seen him acting on The Big Bang Theory and Stargate Atlantis, he's been in a couple of dozen or so other shows, cartoon character voice overs, and an animated films. He was on Epic Rap Battles of History and has dropped the mic on some suckas recycles his own jokes on Twitter so so he's got some comedic talent. I saw him on Joe Rogan and he really made me laugh when he said that the Earth is a pear-shaped spheroid that is sticker around the middle because it's spinning real fast like a pizza, and and if there's no way the moon landing could have been a hoax because it would have been it would have been way more difficult to fake than was to actually going. I think that's what really did it for me though because anybody who's able to say that with the straight face is one hell of an actor. But no I do not know he's an actual scientist, but I do know some actual scientists and none of them have IMDB pages, they prove shit, they don't talk shit how about you?
