Thank you for doing this with a Yorkie. I have a rescue one (10yrs old) who I got some time ago and he has some terrible habits. His recall outside is usually very good, but. He'd not been on a lead until I got him and he walks in front and pulls back when I want him to come forward and his favourite trick is, if I call him and he doesnt want to come, is to curl into a ball where he is and when I pick him up, he shifts his weight about so he's unbalanced and I'm in danger of dropping him. He also 'claws' at me which, when I discourage him from doing it, he goes off in a sulk. TBH, he needs a few days with you!

I was gifted with a puppy Yorkie and at 75yrs old she keeps me entertained playing fetch, though she bites everything including fingers and toes. She loves 20 minute walks 3 -4 times a day and sleeps all night now at 5 months.
It's so mesmerizing to see you training a yorkie! :P I love it though! I am more into medium and large dogs only because the one and only yorkie I had stole my heart and left devastated after many beautiful years together. Amazingly stubborn, smart little beasties ❤
I miss my Yorkie. Someone stole her a month ago. She was soo well behaved and did some tricks but her only issue is she always ran out the door

Hey, I’m using your Amazon links to buy the micro prong collar, what leash are you using with it? I have a yorkie too so I want to get the appropriate leash to go with the collar.
I imagine you get more big dog clients than small dogs, but it would be great to see more small dog training videos, how techniques have to be adapted for their greater fragility. I'm not gonna train anyone's dog, but I'm learning a lot anyways. I'm interning in a veterinary clinic, and it's frustrating to see how there are so many more small dogs that are actively agressive, not just fearful, than big dogs. The stereotypical lap dogs like Yorkies and Chihuahuas tend to be little terrors, glance at them sideways in their box and they scream bloody murder cursing you and your family for five generations. They never had a single disciplinary action taken against them, and some owners even complain if we put them in a cone to protect ourselves as we work, and some need both cone and muzzle at the same time. Since it's small people think such murderous intent is cute. Apply half of that behavior to a German Shepherd and it's suddenly different. Dogs need discipline. Just because it can't rip your throat out, or only with great difficulty, doesn't mean it should be allowed to even try. I swear some of these squeaky demons would eat our livers from the inside if they could.

@@ChanelThomas248Yorkies and Chihuahuas are terrier -type of breed dogs! That’s why they are so snarky, neurotic stubborn and snappy! They are bred to hunt! Almost any dog that had been bred down in size has a worse temperament! Compare the Giant Schnauzer to the Standard Schnauzer and a mini one! Same with Poodles! Standard Poodle, mini and toy! Spitzes, also! Pomeranian used to be a med-sized! Now, it’s barely recognizable, esp the American one! Shrunken brain! The European Poms look like the breed! They were bred as a German Spitz!

Prong collars are illegal where I am. What sort of collar would you recommend instead for a smaller dog? I think most other types are legal

We can't find a treat to train our Yorkie. I've tried 4 so far arms she just snubs her nose at it. I heard that Newman's own pet treats with peanut butter 8:08 a favorite, but haven't run it down yet. Any suggestions? My puppy, 4 mo.old is a biter. I really need help with all kinds of training with my 1yr old Yorkie, she pulls on leash and the worst is her growling and snapping if I try to take her bully stick or a edible chew from her! I some mobility issues and I tried to train her and also hired a trainer when she was a puppy, but it didn't work out 😢
What type of treats do you use in training?
Got a rescue beagle a month ago. He’s awesome except for pulling on a leash and going nuts when he sees another dog. I tool him to spca basic training. Completely pointless. He was on leash in a room with 8 other dogs trying to learn “sit and lay down” and they were 100% positive reinforcement, including never saying no! Needless to say, pointless. I was VERY hesitant to use any training using prongs. But after watching a ton of your videos I’m starting a local 4 week (20 class) in person training by a very well renowned local trainer who uses very similar techniques. Appreciate you easing my mind. I’ll update you in a few weeks. Thanks again for the content!
Hounds are terrible with positive training only, I have a coonhound and we had to get her a prong, a head halter, E collar and training classes for the first two years constantly before she learned to chill out, once they do they are amazing little clowns but I would die laughing watching anyone try and train a hound on purely positive reinforcement as would most any other hound owner, they do amazing with it, but it certainly doesn't teach them anything truly important, aka leash manners, recall, not chasing animals. E collar works great for hunting breeds or a head halter also goes along way on walks
Can I start using a prong colar on a 10week puppy?
I have a new 6 year old yorkie mail. Seems well trained inside the home. But have been told he was starting to attack his housemate & has always been protective around other dogs. I think he might be a bit of a bully. This video was good, but not sure of how to proceed. Any help? Ideas?

Just recently you posted a video recommending Rottweilers, Labradors and German Shepherds. Are Rottweilers good with family in your opinion? Obviously this depends if the owner is experienced but I mean compared to other guard breeds. Some take more work and are more of a danger while others take less work and so are less often a danger because they don't require the same level owner. For example I know you don't recommend Belgian Milionis and Cani Corsi for this reason and a few other reasons. AKC rates Rottweilers a 3 out of 5 with family/kids. German shepherds are 5/5. So are Dobermans. Do you agree with this assessment? What makes Rottweilers worse with kids? Their dominance? OR do you disagree with AKC? I've always wanted to own a Rottweiler, but because of their reputation I am cautious. I've done enough research on GSD's, English Mastiffs, Bullmastiffs and Dobermans to be 100% okay with owning one of those, and I've already owned a Boxer before, however Rottweilers seem to be a bit worse.

I was looking to get a dog. My 2 choices are a Bull Terrier or a Jack Russell. I'm leaning more towards the Jack Russell right now. I'm open to Collies as well.
I friggin love bull terriers that being said if you don't own a house you may have a hard time renting or finding housing due to bully bias, I'd go with a jack instead especially if it's a first time dog

My Yorkshire terrier, (Who is a purebred) Wont do the command unless I have a treat. Which is a bit sad I’m not sure how I can train her to do it WITHOUT a treat on me!
Hey man! Would love if you could make a short on how to properly feed a puppy/dog. I’ve heard kongs are great but there’s so much info on dog feeding and dog food but I only really trust you because all of your training videos have worked on my puppy!
KONG is more better used to reduce anxiety if used within best time of within the 1 minute cycle of between 5-6 mins, else it is either fling toy or becomes opposite and doesnt resolve anxiety, etc. Get qualified professional training if unsure. Many bad incorrect videos on KZhead
Prong collars are forbidden where I live, what else can I use for my Spanish Mastino (3yo) and a St. Bernhard puppy (13 weeks)

my 15 yr old mini schnauzer needed this 15 years ago.. now she just doesn't care and ignores everything going on around her. we thought she was deaf and had her checked.. she can hear great but just chooses not to hear the world collapsing around her lol she has the start of doggie dementia but my mutt gets her attention by barking and they follow each other it's actually very funny but it works for now. my mutt is very patient with her but the mini schnauzer dominated the aussie puppy and he never bothers her but he will follow the schnauzer.
Big dogs are loads easier to train than the purse pooches. They've got higher tolerances, more focus and drive, and are less stubborn overall.

@@ohjeh7388 lol. So you can train a chihuahua to do protection on the same level as a corso? I'd take that bet anyday. No you don't train them the same because what motivates them to work for you is not the same.
@@ohjeh7388 If your point was valid you would see them doing alot more than just agility and basic obedience. They can't do service, protection, policework etc. Why? Because they are self centered and have been bred down to being less useful than chickens. You don't see these issues with well-bred larger working type breeds. They want to work with you regardless if you have an extra motivator or not.
@@BonnersMonstersyou just seem really biased tbh. I've gone from an American bulldog to a yorkshire terrier and the yorkie has been miles easier to train. Bulldogs are big but you'll also never see them be police dogs because they're not bred for that. Working dogs are bred for all different things, some are bred to be independent, others are bred to be obedient and listen out for commands. You don't seem to realise plenty of small dogs are bred to be hunting dogs, so yeah they do more than just basic obedience and agility. I admit most are not bred for this anymore and training a dog which has been bred to simply be a lap dog is often difficult because of how they have been raised. Hunting dogs also tend to be more independent and stubborn, sometimes ignorant, despite usually being smart. As the other commenter said, dogs are dogs - if you treat them as such. Small dogs are usually just not treat like dogs. Something like a cane corso is still bred to be a working dog, so of course it's going to be easier to train them over a chihuahua who has been bred to be a lap dog for ages. That isn't really a small dog vs big dog thing. Papillons are toy breeds but are very intelligent, heard them described as the collie of the toy dogs. So yeah plenty of small dogs are trainable
