Been learning to box for 5 months and consuming a lot of youtube content to learn more and never seen this properly explained. Thank you so much!

the snap is like whipping a towel throw it loose the close your fist tight at the end
Exactly

@@lentzlundyboxing Thanks, will do. Im new to boxing and this shoulder snap is something I took some time to learn today. I followed your advice and started with the uppercuts. Felt really good and when I went to throw my hands on the bag I could immediately tell the differnece. I will have to condition my shoulders to it though so im gonna slowly work this style into my training.
@@yeagerconsulting9217 that's great man! I'm glad that you're able to see progress 👊🏾
i never thought about the shoulder popping part although my coach told me to snap my punches i will practice these drills from now on thx!
Never had this explained so simply. Have seen coaches and pros doing it but for years asked explanation. No one ever explained. Thanks

I Like! Greeetz From Germany
You're welcome. Thank you 🥊
I can’t seem to replicate this. Do you force the shoulder up and drop them at the end of the uppercut? Any tips?
Thanks to your video I finally get it. However, how do I pop the shoulders on overhand right and liver shot and right body hook?
I'm glad that this video helps out. 🥊 For the over hand and right hook, I like to slip to the left and delay the punch. For the liver shot, you need to twist your hips and chest to the right and delay the punch. Let me know if this explanation helps out. I can always make a video to break it down better. 🥊
I didn't realise I was already doing it with jabs and straights from karate training when I was a lad. The piston punching technique kinda facilitates it. I have to learn to do it with other punches. I'll practice what's taught here. Need some cardio and bag work is fun cardio
I saw a mike tyson clip where he says you should punch through the target. Its confusing
🙌👊✌
👊🏾🥊
Well, when i am snapping punches i generally overextend my elbows. I always have fear that i will dislocate my elbow.
I find the straights and the hooks to be easier than the uppercuts.
I snap my shoulder when throwing my left hook but I find it difficult to keep the elbow up high where the shoulder would be guarding my face. If I do raise the elbow up I lose the snap. Any idea why?
this is a great video and straight to the point, have a sub, thanks !
When should i be clenching my fists? Kinda confused there
I feel like I'm too tight and suck at this
I still have this problem too, but I feel it getting better. Just keep going. You'll find it.
That's a interesting video, I stared to do this naturally and I didn't know it was called a shoulder pop 5 mins ago. I tried explaining it to some of my friends when they started training and they couldn't replicate, for me its very natural when throwing straight punches and adds a lot of snapping/whipping power, in hooks I do it to, but its not the same snap, something about the anatomy of the punch that's different from a straight punch shoulder snap and hook uppercut shoulder snap, one is shoveling the other is more like a piston or a whip... don't know, I find it interesting.
Snapping punches is very to be able to punch with the maximal power. I'd say that you're in t he 1% of people who find it natural to shoulder pop. It takes most boxers years to perfect it. Keep up your good work. Checkout my other videos if you like boxing 🥊
@@lentzlundyboxing yeah, came naturally after years of training I meant, all together I did about 5 years of training, 2 years competitively as an amateur. My friends at the time just started training, so they were unable to replicate which makes sense. Love boxing and MMA keep doing what you do.
@@kichmadev oh okk, got it. Thanks bruv 🥊
Maybe you use vertical hooks try horizontal or soviet hooks, these hooks had better alignment and its much easier to corkscrew your shoulder with these
Can’t you damage your wrists when curling them? Never seen anyone curl them like that when throwing a punch
When you keep your wrists straight, you'll land your punch with your fingers. When you slightly curl your wrists, you'll land your punch with the first two knuckles. All boxers do you, you just need to look closely 👊🏾🥊
Wait so my old bad habit of hitting myself in the ear with my shoulder when I punch was actually good?
It's easier with my rear shoulder than with my lead for some reason.
The lead shoulder will come along. It's easier for your rear shoulder because it's your dominant side 👊🏾
Mylead shoulder is killing me. Feels handicaped 😢
It's opposite for me lol
Are u cuban style ??
I love Cuban style, but I'm pretty diverse 🥊
Nonsens! U practice the poping cause u want to condition yourself to extend shoulderblade to the front to increase shoulder griddle structure so that at impact your structure does not collapse = higher procentage of force transfer. Professionals do not press out the ground they drop into the so called empty position
Cant be serious with that goofy untied shoes
Just my swag 😎
