I was lucky enough to try a single piece of cuttlefish sashimi back in 1998 (when I was 17). It was one of the most amazing pieces of sashimi I have ever tried. It had a texture unlike anything else and a slight saltiness without being fishy. I have been looking for a place that sells it EVER SINCE. Unfortunately without success. I'm 41 now and I don't know that I'll ever get to have it again.

The secret to long life in Okinawa is the fresh food that is available. The markets are everywhere and plenty of fresh food for preparation or prepared is readily available. Many Okinawan people work well into their latter years and it is considered honorable to be working up to the point of death. Once you acquire a taste for eating like this you really do not yearn for anything else. I used to enjoy the dried cuttlefish. It is like seafood beef jerky

Which is base on tomyam, curry, fried n side dishes like snack. That basically you need way patience that you could imagine..needs preparing from basic, not that from ready to cook ingredients. But,in end of it..it really satisfying

To all the people complaining about the animal moving: It is merely just nerves acting out on the muscles after the brain is dead. Please find a better argument then just “How could they do this? It’s still moving!” Also, it is not animal abuse. It is part of the food chain, just like how the moose is part of the wolves’ diet.

@@mintyy4980 they do but Asian would eat anything lol
Have you ever eaten squids? You sound pathetic.
I admire the young man and the gold bracelet guy when i see they cut it's really professional. Looks like very easy but actually its not. Really enjoying those video.
Through this whole video I was like nope don't think I'm gonna eat that, nope, nope, nope, but the last one looks really good. would totally try to eat it! thanks for the great video!
Fish, lobster, mobs, meats , dragons, even Aliens...nothing stand a chance in front of Japan cookers
And unicorns xd

Hahaha true....all turned into sashimi
i wouldnt know the first thing about fileting any type of fish....damn much respect for these chefs who can do this!!
This was more like an anatomy lesson for me, but I liked it.

Yeah I thought it was interesting to watch. Kinda felt bad for the squid, but I do love seafood.

For sure!! Looked like that a bit when I did anatomy!!! 😁
i love good sashimi, and a big thank you for posting these vids showing a small part of your world.thank you.and to me,looks really yummy everything you make.
Chef, just a magician. I watched without taking my eyes off. The Wizard Good luck to you .
I agree the word for this video was 'magic'
Adoro os vídeos desse canal 👏
1st time cooked this cuttlefish ,it took very2 long time to process. Cut here n there to separate all parts to cook with 4 different ways of cooking. Which is base on tomyam, curry, fried n side dishes like snack. That basically you need way patience that you could imagine..needs preparing from basic, not that from ready to cook ingredients. But,in end of it..it really satisfying
But my respects because they know how to handle fish and work with it
I couldn't really respect this, did you know that bluefin tuna, there is as yet no sign of a permanent recovery of this species and there are also concerns that yellowfin and bigeye tuna will suffer a similar fate to become extinct.
@@FerryP95 Cuttlefish and octopi are particularly sustainable compared to their finned, tailed, gilled counterparts.
@@FerryP95 ain't you the one last week I saw you buying 100lb tuna lol

I love watching ur videos
Loving all the knife sharpness experts in this comment section. I’m sure they’re weighing their learned opinions against their own decades worth of experience preparing giant cuttlefish.
No you can just see the knife isn't sharp and it's acting like it too
Lol yea. The squid skin being cut sounds extremely rough. Like sandpaper. Reminds me of old pig skin or hog skin being cut sound
Sweet Dreams THANK YOU! Finally someone who understands!!! Oh! And a little bit louder for the ones at the back! (jk)
Sweet Dreams The truth! But this fish is hell still alive!
It was alive during the first process when removing the cuttlebone and such, only after a while then it finally died.
it is alive you complete and utter dimwit Sweet Dreams, they could just give it one quick hit to kill it before skinning it alive.
Mellon Walker Movies You know nothing dude
"holy shit! did you see that?" "yeah, it changed colors!" "wow. let's eat it!"
Through this video, i learn something that very usefull for me.
wouaaa you make extraordinary videos, it's too well filmed, 😁👍
Such incredible skill and so little waste. Amazing!
Pura magia. Adoro esses vídeos de comidaaaa...virá e mexe eu invento algumas coisas tbm
You poderia colocar a dublagem dos ingrediente no vídeo pq seu vídeo e muito top ver a culinária dos asiáticos e muito bom...
Such a beautiful cuttlefish
I love your channel! I know it would take a long time with editing, but I wish there was a way that the ingredients for each dish could be posted. Like the seasonings, herbs, greens, oils etc,
the chef probably wouldn't disclose that info. there are MANY places like this in the area so competition is fierce
Incredible! Well done...

Не смогла дальше смотреть, столько грусти в глазах, хватается за жизнь своими щупалками
There should really be a narrative in English preferably telling us what he's doing from start to finish so we know the parts of the fish etc. But this guy is the Bomb at what he does!!!
My god !!! Was that carrot still alive when he peeled it ????

I get conflicted feelings too but its the internet world getting too out of touch of the real world? You can pump your chest being vegan and all, but plants has life and bleeds too. Nobody here should say anything about killing because we all benefit from this cycle.
Vegan equals feminist equals idiot
Plants have no pain receptors
Jojo Abz we can say the same about this cuttlefish?
Frankly people should learn to be detached and distant, to not put themselves on other people’s places from time to time, take it from me. I learned this and I don’t regret it, it’s benefit to watching these kinds of videos by watching it without negativity.
