POV boxing one round of sparring with an MMA fighter.

Many more to come, still experimenting with other angles/editing and lengths so let me know what you’d like to see!

  • The short dude knew exactly what he was doing. Waiting for those openings and keeping distant. Even coming in more agressive near the end when he knew you'd be slower and worn out a little more. Sparing bigger people is tough especially if there's kicks involved it's like getting hit by a tree trunk 😂

    • @@realcartop thats absolutely what you should be doing, keeping distance until you find openings to close the distance and get to your preferred range (close) with the least resistance and damage while moving through his preferred range (mid).

    • @@realcartop when I said keeping distance I mean it makes the larger guy push in giving the shorter guy an opportunity to slip and counter. I was also talking from my perspective as someone who does Muay Thai against bigger opponents you don't want to be be taking too many kicks from them. It hurts very quickly 🤣

  • I think perhaps frequent gauging of the distance with the left hand (like at 1:11) would have been helpful here (think Larry Holmes). That may have made it harder for the shorter guy to maintain the distance and evade the jab.

      @POVboxing@POVboxing Жыл бұрын
    • @@POVboxing Yeah it could be interesting, but i find a short in-fighter more practical because in-fighters generate alot of power from their short, muscular legs. They are closer to the ground so they can generate even more power, are more agile & have more balance. A tall person that does not have the mass will simply not be as effective as an in-fighter, most of the times

  • For me it's always easier when I spar shorter opponents even if they have more experience, because there is no distance where they can reach me and I can't reach them back at the same time. And you always know, that he has to go in so you can pick defensive style, catch on attacks etc. If you're a short guy unfortunately you have to be aggressive and attack and risk because you're outplayed by the reach already.

      @evgeniyushkov7103@evgeniyushkov71036 ай бұрын
    • @@evgeniyushkov7103 I think it works more in mid- weight. My friend won a competition in such weight just because he strikes harder than tall thin guys in his weight. But in heavy+ class any blow is dangerous. The only advantage of short guy is his speed because of short levers. But in my experience this rarely gives an advantage against opponents with the same skill level (and their range advantage does).

    • Same it forces me to use footwork and feints to close the distance. Double or triple jabbing helps and faking the jab. I’m a Muay Thai practitioner but I use a lot of boxing in my sparring(can’t kick everyone in the face lol) so I have more tools to use when I’m out of punching range I can still use a front kick or an inside low kick to take the role of my jab
