ROSALÍA: 'MOTOMAMI,' Creative Songwriting and Finding Musical Freedom with Frank Ocean | Apple Music

2022 ж. 15 Нау.
794 023 Рет қаралды

ROSALÍA joins Zane Lowe in Santa Monica for churros and an intimate conversation about her third studio album, ‘MOTOMAMI.’ ROSALÍA talks about leaning on The Weeknd, Frank Ocean, Pharrell, and other artists who've helped her grow as a producer and a songwriter. ROSALÍA explains she strived for complete freedom in this album, giving herself permission to bring in playfulness, a sense of humor, and a mix of genres. She also felt it crucial to completely disconnect from the outside world, focusing solely on the music. ROSALÍA walks through the inspirations behind her tracks like “BULERÍAS,” “CHICKEN TERIYAKI,” and “COMO UN G.” Listen to ROSALÍA on Apple Music: apple.co/ROSALIAYT

  • The passion of this woman is beyond my understanding. She cares for her vision and works, fights for it to become real. Been a fan since 2018 but this Rosalía, Motomami Rosalía, looks way more confident than her previous versions. She's transformed into a warrior, a voice of power, and I truly respect that. Can't wait to listen to the whole project in a few hours.

    • @@joycearmstrong1648 The way she plays with music genres sounds pretty new (not saying it’s new, not even her says it’s new, but it feels like new as she plays with the context). She put many asymmetrical songs with some Latin influence but they don’t sound like the Latin music I’ve heard before. She starts with a reggaeton beat and ends up with a super dark experimental sound (as for example in her song Diablo) or introduces flamenco influence in the way she sings some songs that have nothing to do with flamenco. She is very creative.

  • As an artist, and as a woman, watching this is so inspiring. I love that Rosalia curates her own vision and sound, like she isn’t bound by others’ opinions or past preconceived notions. She builds her own path herself, she takes the rules and reconstructs them in her own way, and that is so powerful and beautiful. (also, personally, as a latina living in the US, it’s really cool to see artists like her who blend all of these different inspirations and cultures together to make a piece of art such as her new album. It makes me feel seen, while also completely viewing it through her own lens)

  • Charming, charismatic, energetic, talented, fun, smart and artistic. Been listening to Motomami now for a month. Every time I hear something new and delightful. Always makes me smile. Now it's fun to hear about the process of making the album. Interesting insight of the creative process. I love how she blends the old with the new, the sad with the joyful and the simple a capella with the samples and production. What a free spirit, and that voice! Goosebumps.

  • To not understand her music is one thing, but for someone to not understand that she is such a genuine, kind & humble person baffles me. She is unapologetically herself. I love her for that ❤️‍🔥

  • Rosalía seems so genuine, love her energy and what she’s about. Another great interview! Loved what she said about preferring real collaboration as a opposed to paid collaboration. A big difference indeed. So many good thoughts in here from her and Zane. The album is so good! Production goes crazy, and Rosalía is super talented. 🙌🏾✨❤️

    • They're smart business women who are into fashion. She likes that stuff. They are also very down to earth unlike most people in Hollywood. They are. Also conservative in their lifestyle.

  • This album gave me big ΛΛΛYΛ (Maya) vibes. Definitely don't mean to compare ROSALÍA to M.I.A., but this record feels just as groundbreaking. ΛΛΛYΛ predated 'Yeezus' and really set the groundwork for a lot of experimental music, that really set the bar afterwards, MOTOMAMI feels just as revolutionary.

  • At this moment in time i´m thanful for being alive so i can watch this video, discovering how two souls blend together in a magical conversation about creativity, art, music, human relationships, visions and future. I loved Rosalía since i discovered her with El mal querer, she´s a true artist and a really good person. And Zane is one the best intervierwers out there, he asks the importants questions with such delicacy, respect and humbleness that is impossible not to love him. Thank you to everyone who made this posible, as an artist myself, i get so much inspiration with such contents. I´m grateful right now
