In today's short we talk about how Cynthia let Ash win in the Masters 8 Battle Ash beats Cynthia was shocking but was it on purpose?
Pokémon Journeys: The Series is the eighth part of the anime series. It features all of the regions from the main-series games, including the Generation VIII games Pokémon Sword and Shield. This series shares its Japanese name with the original series when the anime first premiered in 1997, and is officially labeled with "2019", the year this series started in, for disambiguation. This new series focuses on the two protagonists Ash Ketchum and Goh, along with their partners Pikachu and Cinderace. It also features a young girl named Koharu (Chloe), who has a Yamper, and her father, Professor Sakuragi (Cerise), who runs a laboratory in Vermilion City. It features all the regions that have appeared in the Pokémon games, from Kanto to Galar. Pokémon from each region will also appear while Ash is pursing Leon in the Pokemon World Coronation Series (PWC) and Goh is chasing his dream in Project Mew.
The Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games, the newest chapters in the Pokémon series, are coming to Nintendo Switch later this year. With these new titles, the Pokémon series takes a new evolutionary step, allowing you to explore freely in a richly expressed open world. Various towns blend seamlessly into the wilderness with no borders. You’ll be able to see the Pokémon of this region in the skies, in the seas, in the forests, on the street all over! You’ll be able to experience the true joy of the Pokémon series battling against wild Pokémon in order to catch the now in an open-world game that players of any age can enjoy.? The three Pokémon from which you’ll be able to choose your first partner are Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly. Be ready as you step into Generation 9 of Pokemon.

Nope everyone was expecting Cynthia to go for the mega evolution. The fans expected it, the audience in the show expected it and ash did too. When she dynamax she caught everyone off guard and if ash wasn’t flexible it could have very well cost him the match. Cynthia demonstrated her versatility and why she is considered one of the best champions in Pokémon.

I believe it was a good call on the writing to make Cynthia more versatile then always relying on Garchomp to win the match over. And being predictable makes the match less engaging than most fans would believe.
While I believe that too the thing that makes it hurt is that she allowed Garchomp to get hurt when it wasn’t necessary. The clear best answer after Milotic went down was togekiss. If it was just Mega Lucario vs. a regular Togekiss, Lucario would’ve dealt with it pretty quickly. It would’ve been a full HP Mega Lucario vs an already damaged Mega Garchomp. But instead she used Dynamax Togekiss, which was a tank, and managed to deal some significant damage to Lucario. Yeah she still lost, but it could’ve went the same either way.
Exactly
Nope lucario was already hit by airslash even before togekiss dynamaxed and did seriously damage since togekiss hits ard and lucarios defenses are bad. and of course he wins steel against fairy type lol. it would be funny if cynthia teached togekiss firestorm this would be devastating.
@@jointser1008 garchomp was still injured when lucario was sent in un harmed

Nope, she didn't. Her dynamaxing Togekiss made more sense than mega evolving a Garchomp that's taken quite some damage, considering that Togekiss has a bit of advantage against Lucario moveset wise. @@noonesarino7913 It still would've been strategic on her part, to be honest. Even Leon changed his Charizard's movesets a lot of time throughout the series.
No she didn't. She gave it her all. She used Dynamax Togekiss because it'd throw Ash off which worked because Ash was surprise plus Garchomp already took massive amount of damage thanks to Sirfetch'd so I'm thinking Cynthia wanted to end the battle asap by Dynamaxing Togekiss and not let the battle come down to Mega Lucario and a weakened Garchomp.
We’ve Pokémon in the anime still use there gimmick even after they got damaged
Ok hear me out- When sir fetch defeated milotic Cynthia sent out her Garchomp when she literally had a togekiss, like sending out Garchomp makes NO sense due to 2 reasons. First being the type advantage of togekiss over sirfetch and second keeping your ace for last moments. It proves that Writers just wanted to make Ash win and they thought that people won't notice due to intense tension built on the battle. Clear plot armour imo
there was no plot armor involved, ash wins fair and square
Exactly bruh especially since everyone wanted Ash vs Alain rematch that didn’t happen. We got Leon vs Alain which we expected to see Alain’s broken Charizard show off that’s COMPLETELY THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT HAPPENED. We wanted GMAX Charizard vs Mega Charizard X that didn’t happen. We wanted to see Mega Lucario vs Mega Garchomp that didn’t happen. Leon one hit ko’ing Alain’smost broken Charizard with a base form Charizard then proceeds to sweep FOUR OF THE SIX POKÉMON OF DIANTHA. Yet Ash beats Leon. They could’ve made these battles jaw dropping like Alain losing to Leon was meant to happen sure but atleast GMAX vs Mega Charizard X and have a twist that they actually tie Leon still wins because even though both Charizard’s lose Leon still had one Pokémon left so he still wins but displaying how good Alain still is and him being the first to beat his Charizard he even said it was his goal to beat his Charizard and they should’ve gave Alain that Opportunity in atleast a draw especially GMAX Wildfire vs Blast Burn.
I agree with the fact that Togekiss would have smashed Sirfetch'd with no problems, but let's also say that Ash could have switched his Pokémon too
Also the fact that a rock quick attack one shot gastrodon who is one of the tankiest mons in the show. 2 air slashes is always a 2hko against lucario and somehow he lived through multiple and also survived garchomps attacks.
@@Momo-zi7sp bruh it's the anime, ash's infernape beat 3 or 4 of Paul's mons while poisoned. If it worked via game knowledge infernape would have fainted by poison damage before electevire was sent out
If Togekiss had used Max Mindstorm to set up psychic terrain, Lucario couldn't use bullet punch for the rest of the match. She would have won
Did it have a single psychic move?
@@CertifyGames zen headbutt, her togekiss used it just some moment before
@@peternguyen1576 oh shit didn’t notice
Damn true
Uh if I remember psychic terrain only affects grounded pokemon (pokemon that have levitate/flying type and has air balloon are not affected by any terrain effects) so togekiss would still get hit by bullet punch even with psychic terrain up, spamming max airstream was Cynthia's best choice.
Garchomp had been felt damage while ash’s lucario hadn’t so she decided to not waist her gimmick on an already half defeated Pokémon
In the anime and in games, you choose your gimmick before the round starts.
Not really in the anime when you have no real hold items you can do any of the three gimmicks if you have the right wristband
In the official tournament rules you can only use one gimmick on one Pokémon per fight
Many people also have to understand that Mega Evolving Garchomp makes it Slower
@@hollow9846 I don’t think so. Ash was going to mega evolve his lucario against Raihan but during the match he switched to Gmaxing his gengar.
This is a Triple strategy going in. I believe Cynthia was waiting around to see what gimmick Ash would use because he has access to Gigantamax Gengar, Z Move Pikachu, and Mega Lucario. My belief is that she would attempt to go hard on him depending on what he has so she kept her Dynamax as a secondary option. On one hand, she could have Mega Evolved Garchomp immediately but she did not anticipate Sirfetch’d to weaken it this much so it makes sense to use her gimmick on her then only healthy Pokémon, which is Togekiss. She was also considering that now that everyone expects to see Mega Garchomp, Ash might have planned something for Lucario to use against it. My belief is that, she wants to use both her Pokémon to whittle Lucario down. Togekiss stood no chance against Lucario in base and having an almost downed Mega Garchomp against a healthy Mega Lucario is stupid. I think what she wants us to use Dynamax Togekiss to weaken Lucario as much as possible before Garchomp could take it out. But nobody expected Reversal. Again, Ash might have been saving that one move as a last resort that he must have planned on Garchomp when push comes to shove.
Togekiss was still such a strong and powerful competitor to Lucario.
I love that you mentioned Ash and Lucario having reversal, and that Ash was saving it as a “down to the wire” surprise. It shows appreciation for Ash’s strategy and quick thinking and preparation! He’s actually quite battle-smart and a powerful trainer, but if he wins then it’s plot armor and if he loses then he’s weak. There’s no winning. As a writer myself (not professional) I never like seeing plot armor, but I also watch the anime and don’t see a lot of it, but when I do it’s something I see more than once, like non-legendaries taking down a legendary. Kalos was the best because it showed how it usually takes more than a ragtag group of friends to save the world. Ash may have some amount of plot armor, I won’t deny, but from a writers POV, I see how the Pokémon writers have tried to avoid it as much as possible. When you’ve written yourself into a corner, creating this crazy-strong opponent, sometimes you need a little plot-armor to help the characters, otherwise do a lot of rewriting to make the fight even possible. Giving the hero something in past adventures that will help them, writing in a weakness for the enemy… and you’ll find that Adh is very good at finding those weaknesses. Avoiding plot armor is probably partly why there are multiples seasons in a Gen - for money and to make it more believable that Ash can win, showing character growth and Pokémon training and evolution.
We don’t know - because the WRITERS wrote it exactly how they wanted 😂
When Lucario walked through the tornado/whirlwind lmfaoooooo
I feel like people do not understand why it is very in character for Cynthia to dynamax. Cynthia thinks like a competitive trainer in pokemon game world where as Ash and Leon think like anime Trainers. Cynthia's Garchomp was already very weakened from it's battle against Sir'fetched whereas Togekiss didn't take a single hit prior to it's battle against lucario. Think about it, you have a Garchomp with less than half it's health which you can mega evolve or you have a togekiss with full health that you can dynamax. The choice seems obvious here don't you think. Plus mega Garchomp wouldn't do as well since togekiss landed a few hits on lucario before it went down. But if it was a regular togekiss it would have fainted much faster and a very weakened mega Garchomp would have to face a healthy mega lucario Cynthia wanted to either take out lucario or deal enough damage to it so that her Garchomp would have the upperhand against lucario but she didn't account for lucario having 'reversal'. You could say it was the wrong move by Cynthia but that happens. Things don't always go to plan especially against Ashy-boy
Thats why she’s the goat
Well that way they keep Cynthia pride at the same time making Ash win
The writers/showrunners wanted Ash to win, simple as that. They made the battle appear believable, sure. But if you really think about it, there's no way Ash could/should have won. How would either Lucario or Sirfetch'd, both of whom Ash has had for only one region, hold their own against Garchomp, whom Cynthia has had for most of her life?
Stop crying, If you're strong getting beaten by a weaker opponent is possible, their fight was close, it will go either way but Sirfetch'd did a lot of damage on Garchomp, that is why it is not that strong when going head to head against mega lucario.
Experience and strategy. Also, Meteor Mash is a crazy strong move. Ash IS a Pokémon Champion. People make fun of him for being weakness and stupid, but here’s the thing: If he wins against strong trainers, it’s plot armor. If he loses against weak or even average trainers, he’s weak. So people want a perfectly average, or maybe slightly above average, main character. There’s no winning. At the end of the day, the simple fact is that Ash is a very good trainer who knows what he’s doing on the battlefield. He’s good at making strategies and surprising people. Ash is THE character most well-known for out-the-box thinking, at least in the Pokémon Franchise. That’s not a kid battling a Champion, that’s a Champion who has never placed lower than 16th in any of the six or seven leagues he’s participated in (16 twice, 8 three times, 2 once, 1 once, plus winning orange islands, I THINK), who has beaten legendary Pokémon and fought champions before, and saved the world numerous times, and has a very close aura bond with his Ace. People underestimate Ash a lot because the writers need to nerf him by making him make rookie mistakes.
She let him win? My foot!! She know how much Ash struggled to get there. She won't go easy on him because she knows he is a worthy opponent.
The writers definitely decided to have togekiss dmax instead because dey wanted to have d epic scene wit gmax aura sphere vs a max move and to let lucario use reversal instead to finish off garchomp
that and logicly it was smarter to dmax tokekiss than mega garchop
@@frankspick7544 Yes cuz mega garchomp seems weaker than the ordinary garchomp cuz it will trade the speed off over power, which isn't worth it and also Garchomp is damaged asf. cuz of Sir Fetch so it doesn't make sense to user power if you're heavily damage cuz speed is good for defense like evasion and outplaying your opponent.
To be fair, in the competitive scene you’re more likely to use normal garchomp than mega given it gets slower and the buffs it does get are kinda meh for that speed trade off
But in games speed decides who goes first. The anime doesn’t have to worry about that. Even the slowest can hit first.
Alright my belief is, Sirfetched damaged garchomp too much so it didn’t have enough energy to mega evolve. Cynthia knew this and decided that togekiss would benefit more from dynamaxing.
true, when Sirfetched hit Garchomp with MEteor Assault Garchomp was about to faint, so his hp woulda been super low maybe even at red
We’ve seen Pokémon in the anime get damage and still use there gimmick
That sound effect caught me off guard😂😂😂😂
Ash isn't getting any older. We can wait another 26 years for a rematch
Cynthia made her her mind or retiring after the tournament ends. When one makes such decision he is sure to give his all no matter what happens around them. Cynthia did the same. She let everyone thinking of her using Mega Evolution but to everyone's surprise she instead went for Dynamax. And this decision was a smart one too. Garchomp upon Mega Evolving gains a lot of Attack boost but on the sacrifice of its speed. While it had only Dragon type moves which Lucario resisted, it being slower than Ash's Mega Lucario and being already damaged would have given her an even brutal lose. She used Dynamaxed Togekiss' boosted speed to hold up Lucario till he got exhausted dealing damage to a tank mon. And this Battle seemed a lot fair was a surprise for everyone including Ash and Cynthia when Lucario got up. He couldn't believe for almost a minute that he won against Cynthia.
Garchomp and mega garchomp outspeed lucario and mega lucario outspeeds both garchomp and mega garchomp. In this case mega evolution would have been the right call as a 170 base stab earthquake would have Sent that mega lucario straight to the pokemon center team rocket style.

@@muhaiminmoiz5185 Yeah. Garchomp is a Dragon and Ground type.
Nope, Cynthia was playing all the right cards. She's a careful strategist through and through, and knew that Ash would focus a lot of effort into weakening Garchomp when it showed up because mega evolved or not, it's a massive threat. She banked on him being caught off guard with Dynamax Togekiss, which was arguably a bigger threat centered for his team. The only mistake she made was not realizing how flexible Ash is. I still feel the battle should've been handled better overall, but Ash and his Lucario having a surprise move ready specifically to take out Garchomp is something I expected, and it does show that his original strategy was centered around beating Garchomp in a mega v mega battle. I doubt he'd have been able to recover if Lucario was taken out earlier in the battle.
I love this because it shows appreciation for Ash without nerfing powerful characters! Not enough people talk about how nerfed Ash NEEDS to be with new Pokémon and rookie mistakes in order for him to not just BODY every opponent. Ash took Cynthia off guard by being so flexible and adaptive, because Ash is a genuinely good Pokémon trainer who knows what he’s doing on the battlefield.
Plot armour always let's him win
It does seem odd that Cynthia didn't use a ground move against Lucario as she has one herself. The anime has had a very strong anti-Earthquake policy which really hurts ground types
Was literally having a conversation about this with my buds yesterday. Ground types are nerfed as heck in the amine. In terms of moves all you see normally is Dig or Sand Attack. Also think of it this way since Cynthia’s Garchomp only had Stealth Rock and the rest dragon type moves Ash could’ve surprised everyone and picked Mimey (part Fairy) and basically take out Garchomp. Crazy to think but it would work if Ash had taken out the rest of her Pokémon and was down to just 1.
I think Pokémon in general think of earthquake as a mistake. Causing an actual earthquake would hurt the trainers and everyone in the vicinity. Fissure seems more logical. That’s why they literally removed earthquake as an attack in Legends, Garchomp could literally not use it cause it’s not in the game.
earthquake is literally the most overused move in all of the games.

I don't think so, Ash traveled to multiple regions for years, and thanks to his years of battling gym leaders, elite four, and champions from different regions Ash grew as a Trainer, I would say Ash is battling like an elite four trainer, he graduated from being a hi-ace trainer after X & Y. So no Cynthia did not let Ash win.
Years? Pffft
@@mxochii5159 Correction our years, I don't know about Ash in team probably found the lake of youth or something.
Neh ! Didn't you see the dialogues . She was confident over Garchomp and lost to a good strategy . And thts why she didn't let Ash win , she lost fair and square ... whts with these absurd questions ?
Genwunners who can't accept anyone more powerful than cynthia
To get people to comment basic KZheadr stuff
Tbh it makes sense why Cynthia didn't use Mega. She mentioned that this was going to be her last match. Having never used Dinamax she wanted to try something new before she left the battling scene. You could say she wanted to see if she could still win, even without mega. Idk. I kinda found it poetic in a way.
Well with the moveset she had for the match it's not a surprise. We've seen Garchomp use brick break, dig, dragon rush, outrage and giga impact but she picked scale shot and freaking stealth rock? But at least the hand to hand combat styled battle was good.
Stealth rock is Great for chip damage
@@noonesarino7913 but she used it when Ash only had two Pokémon left. Not to mention, Garchomp’s supposed to be offensive.
Garchomp slap to lucario was personal 🗿

ash has biggest plot armor
“Plot Armor” is a weak fan excuse.
I had enough of this plot armour bullshit
@@EWOODJits literally true tho...
@@spooderman568 but how though? Ash got whooped every single championship series before this.
Ive never seen Cynthia fans go so far to convince themselves she’s the undeniable strongest with no one to challenge her that they’d believe she’s throwing a match for not using one of the worst received mega evolutions.
i seen on instagram people say garchomp didnt mega so it doesnt get disrespected if ash still won but mega evolution doesnt recover health it adds power so garchomp would be stronger but depending on garchomps ability and lucarios moveset if it had power up punch it made more sense ash won cause stat boosting
No Cynthia didn’t let Ask win, but just choose a different tactic to help catch him off guard. Nothing about that battle at all, shows that she was trying to just let Ash win. She would never insult her opponent like that, plains facts. Each of her moves played an important role, not letting her guard down for a second.
For sure. Ash earned the win plain and simple.
I knew these videos we’re gonna start. Just let ash enjoy his W
I just didn’t expect for Garchomp not to use a single ground type move
Main reasons why Garchomp lost are : 1. Reversal 2. SCALE SHOT Scale shot reduced her defences to ashes and reversal just does more damage the low hp it has . If lucario didn't have the move reversal i don't see mega lucario winning against base Garchomp.
Garchomp was already injured. Mega evolution would have been a waste of a gimmick
If Cynthia would have mega evolved garchomp it would have been the most predictable and most basic battle.
I think considering situation, that was the best thing Cynthia could do (even though her moveset were a bit questionable) But however, if it was a full health mega garchomp vs mega Lucario im sure Cynthia would surely win. In the end, it's all just how writers wanted it to be :)
Pretty sure full hp mega garchomp vs mega lucario in the anime will result in lucario winning since garchomp going mega buffs its strength but lowers its speed significantly. Even Cynthia said it when she versed against Iris, she only used mega on garchomp since haxorus was also brute forcing his attacks so cynthia needed more strength rather than speed.
@@vagueeeee139 yeah but since garchomp is a cynthia's ace for a long long time, im sure it defeated many ace's of other people before. so with a strength boost by mega evolving, i'm sure it will get strong enough to take a few blows and out strength mega lucario.
@@poketunes2512 Overall fight was questionable tbh, but still, cynthia didn't want to risk a damaged mega garchomp to battle out against full hp mega lucario. Writers also think it would be a better twist, since it's the most predictable ending to have mega garchomp as the last player again like what happened to iris. I think the move here was either make mega garchomp appear vs ash or vs iris but the writers said iris would be a better storyline. But fr, in any scenario mega garch would beat mega lucario, anime and plot armor logic for us eh.
@@vagueeeee139 yes absolutely
The slap sound😂😂😂
I disagree it takes skill to get Cynthia down to one pokemon then even win agenst her before ash she was practically undefeated just like Leon till more lore comes out telling us other wise. Ash gets my upmost respect on this one 💯
Not sure why people are like "cYnthIa shOulD haVe wOn" ash literally uses cheats.
Like one shotting gastrodon with a rock quick attack right? One of the tankiest mons in pokemon. The writers didnt know how to beat her so they had to get rid of her
Cynthia's Garchomp only knew dragon attacks which Lucario resists being part steel type. Her Garchomp had horrible coverage....one fairy type and it would have been decimated. She made the best decision.
Cynthia's Garchomp is known to know dig, and brick break... In it's introduction episode. As in first time we SEE this Garchomp, it's capable of using these moves. And it's also used flamethrower before as well. If the writers are in fact using the logic that steel resist dragon(even though they will basically ignore type effectiveness whenever they feel like it.) Then they purposely nerfed Garchomp just so it is more believable that it didn't one shot a weakened Lucario. Ash's Lucario knows no super effective moves against Garchomp, none. And Cynthia is only using dragon moves because what exactly. Weather it's Garchomp forgetting the moves or plot induced stupidity to not use super effective moves you know is irrelevant. The writers are just nerfing her instead of building up Ash to her level. Ash literally caught this Lucario as a Riolu this gen. And now it's competing with Cynthia's Garchomp? I just don't buy it, they literally just forced this win. IDC that they made Cynthia a competent trainer and simply threatening. She should literally be solo stomping his team no contest, not simply be competing with his team. Also very convenient that Cynthia doesn't have her Lucario as well
True and this Cynthia simps are still making excuses 🤣
@@michaelmerchant9870 cynthia stans be like:
@@fyreexe4121 but u can't argue tho
@@jayzz1716 i can.
no you can say that bye the intense combat between lucario and garchomp
What will be different even if it mega evolved and still used dragon type moves on lucario being steel, the result would be same. The only match which seemed like letting the other to win was Lance vs Diantha, Lance not fodging anything and not using hydreigon against gourgeist. The others were just ok.
Lance forgot to give orders when mega gardevior avoided the hyper beam guess lance was in shook or he thought his dragonite would tank another moon blast given how lance play style was to brute force everything.
I DON'T KNOW IF NOTICED BUT GARCHOMP ONLY HAD DRAGON TYPES MOVES AND STEALTH ROCK Dragon claw Scale shot Draco meteor Stealth rock Imagine ash having fairy type, that would've been crazy.
Part of the plot really. She spammed brick break heavily in previous seasons but she replaced it with an entry hazard move when Garchomp's supposed to be her offensive powerhouse?
Mr mime would have soled her
@@overworked_nurse her move sets were actually for Leon charizard. Thats why it didn't have a ground type move ash for ash she had togekiss and spritomb as coverage
@@aganbraganca4156 She was facing Ash not Leon, she could’ve changed her moveset again before facing Leon. And with that logic, dragon type moves aren’t even super effective against Charizard. She didn’t even keep stone edge.
Hard disagree on her "letting" him win. I really think it was cuz of how much damage Garachomp took from the GOAT aka SirFetched. That warrants a strat change If anyone let ash win it was the writers.
Its in the same vein as when Ash used dmax Gengar instead of Mega Lucario against Raihan
Maybe she would have mega evolve garchomp, but garchomp got softened by sirfecthd so she decided to dynamax togekiss instead and use it’s type advantage against lucario.
For information Togekiss doesn't have a type advantage over lucario Lucario has the steel type which makes flying type moves neutral In other hand togekiss is weak to steel
Also Cynthia’s Garchomp only had Dragon type moves to use against Lucario. It would be pointless to mega evolve a Pokemon who is only going to deal partially effective damage. Togekiss on the other hand had a flying type move and max airstream is effective against fighting types.
The whole battle was so badass
Bro why would she make him win
@KYWAN WEBSTER oh yeah mb

So what do you want? Ash to actually win the championships, or your beloved champions remain undefeated despite being beaten by the player?
You can run the simulation in Pokemon showdown. Togekiss + 1/2 HP Mega Garchomp vs. Mega Lucario OR Dynamax Togekiss + 1/2 HP Garchomp vs. Mega Lucario The latter is more difficult to go up against.
Eat your heart out Cynthia fans 💀
maybe she let him win because she was not sure if she was going to retire or continue battling
she would have won if she use mega evolution
@@Audreyandbesties Yeah with a Garchomp at red vs a full health mega lucario. That's a great plan.
@@Audreyandbesties she wouldn't. Most the damage Lucario took comes from her monstrous Togekiss which wouldn't have a chance to do as much as it did had it not dynamaxed. If Togekiss didn't put in that work and she mega evolved an already weak Garchomp she'd have an even lower chance of winning. Ash won because he had the move reversal which was really smart on his part.
I'm just saying that Togekiss could use Zen Headbutt and therefore Max Mindstorm, so she could have activated the Psychic Terrain and screwed Lucario's Bullet Punch. (Maybe not for Togekiss because he fly, but for Garchomp it would have been a great help).
Actually, Ash went easy on her. He never used his best team.
Leon gonna is going to WHOOP👏HIS👏ASH. If it was me I’d rage and wouldn’t give ash a chance all for Cynthia
Ah yes, let's wait another 20 years.
Even if Cynthia did mega evolution on garchomp Ash would have still won the battlw
Her garchomp had a full on dragon moveset, no ground coverage, plus it had already taken huge damage from Sirfetch (the true mvp imo) so dynamaxing togekiss to go for the NEUTRAL max air stream (considered by many the strongest dynamac move) was smarter than mega evolving a garchomp with only dragon moves against a steel type. Cynthia was trying to finish the match before garchomp came out.
She didn’t let ash win cause if she did let him win she would’ve still retired from battling
If anything ash gave her a chance because he didn't summon his previous aces
Cynthia has a Rayquaza but didn't bring it so yes she let him win
Isn’t that the mismagius dream episode from DP?
You know the funny thing is I could make the same arguments whenever Ash loses to trainer and doesn't use his aces like Charizard and Greninja. Ash vs Paul, Lake Acuity doesn't count, Ash didn't bring Charizard. Ash vs Bea first match, doesn't count didn't use any aces or a Z-Move. Ash wasn't at full power either. So let's stop complaining about these things because Ash wasn't fighting at his full potential either.
i think yes......Cynthia could have scale shot or draco meteor instead of dragon claw in the end.
Greninja need to pull up for the championship
i think this is the first time we see cynthia’s full team in the anime and this is so cool
Fairy/flying type was more effective to the fighting type lucario rather than her dragon type that's y Cynthia went for dynamax instead of mega evolution
If she had used Draco meteor instead of dragon claw at end she would have won
She just tried a different strategy and lost, that’s all really.
If ash wasn’t the main character, bro is NOT winning 😭🙏🙏🙏
Why do people underestimate dynamax, dynamax is better than mega evolution, mega evolution only boost stats with 100 and to get distributed, dynamax boost damage, raise 1 stage stat and increase hp,plus Cynthia swapped Pokemon multiple times
Dynamaxin Togekiss was a smart move. The real stupidity was Garchomp's moveset (Stealth Rock, Dragon Claw, Scale Shot, Draco Meteor) And quick reminder she had Flamethrower, Brick Break, Dig in her moveset before. She really did let Ash win
-_- Cynthia didn't let him win. She have it her all. She used Dynamax because it'd throw Ash off. Which in the case it worked.
I think if Cynthia and ash were to battle again Cynthia wins. Similar to an undella town battle or her 3rd team in BDSP. I think we should have a time jump where we see all these champions carry the reign as monarch. The only thing I can compare it to is Lightning McQueen being a 7X piston cup winner but as the viewers we never get to see his victories, we just know he’s probably the goat compared to the king strip weathers.
The biggest mistake cynthia did is she didnt teach ground moves to her garchomp and her gastrodon got defeated by a quick attack 😂. The writers had to make cynthia lose actually 😂
Outside of saying the writers let Ash win. What it was is that she wanted to end the battle with Togekiss or at the very least leave Lucario severely weak. Neither of those worked because she underestimated Ash and his Lucario.
It was just cuuz ash used his secret weapon... PLOT ARMOR
after all these seasons Ash finally got his act together
Everyone complaining about Cynthia not using mega evolution but are OK with Ash not even using his best mons for a champion tournament?
The anime also has a habit of using the Pokémon for a little before mega evolving. When sir fetchd did massive damage to garchomp, the mega evolve gimmick would of been relatively useless. And the only reason garchomp put up a fight with mega lucario was because lucario was exhausted and heavily damaged from multiple super effective flying dynamax moves
Lucario vs garchop was the most underwhelming fight in pokemon i have seen tbh 💀
underwhelming in what sense?
She did she never used a super effective ground move with her ground Pokémon on lucario who is weak to ground
Ash just has 5.m plot armor you no that why he always win
it would have took just an earthquake. who tf runs a chomp without earthquake
Nah, the writers let Ash win with plot armour. What a stupid match. He never should have won that especially with a lucario 💀
