This was the biggest, and the best trout fishing adventure that I have had for years. We caught big trout, lots of small trout and walked for miles. It took us all day, but WOW What an adventure that I will not forget any time soon.

This is the kind of fishing trip I dream about. Love your part of the world Robbie.
Thanks so much Mark, so do I mate. I'm thankful every day to live here.
It’s another long Robbie fishing adventure. Whenever I head out, we don’t have a lunch break, we have a break: tie up, bait fish and eat. Works well but can be a fun handful LOL!! My boat hunting still going hard. Thought one was good, required $2000 repairs, owner wasn’t interested in negotiating. People add sooo much sentimental value
Haha I totally couldn't bait fish while having a break. LOL For the same reason that I don't often bait fishing while I'm crayfishing. It takes away the relaxation factor too much. LOL
Love the trout. I'm always amazed by the puddles you catch them in 😂😂
Thanks mate. Haha these are definitely favourite types of trout fishing spots.
Yahoo ROBBIE - Seems like you took my Advice and CHANGED your INTROS -Good on you mate - I will now Really enjoy watching your Videos
Hi mate, I just used this intro as a once off, too many people love my Hey You intro for me to stop using it.
Love the video Robbie. The seanery and the amount of trout are to die for. Good job Robbie and Camo man 😊
Thanks so much mate. It was a day that I won't forget any time soon.
G’day Robbie, I just love how you can pull a fish out of what looks like nothing at all, lol. You are such a good fisherman, mate. Great video, Robbie.
Hi Wayne, thank you so much mate. This certainly was a memorable trip.
Man I wish the trout fishing was good where I am
What a great day out! I really loved the fact that it brought back so many memories. It's always good to revisit old haunts. Puts alot of things into perspective.
Thanks so much Damian, you're not wrong mate it sure does.
What a lovely spot great to see the Camo Man back and catching a few fish on top would have been a great time
Thanks mate, we sure did have a blast.
Great day mate and beautiful country 😎
Thanks mate, we had an amazing day but gee I paid for it the next day. LOL
What a awesome adventure 😊
Thanks mate. It was a trip that I won't forget any time soon..
Another great video Robbie.
Thanks so much Gregory.
Looks like some nice spots to do some Robbie’s fox whistling in between holes
Haha I use to do a lot up there as a young bloke.
Hiya rob In a word .... magical, I could have watched that all afternoon.. what a great fisheries like that one are rare here..well done mate .. thank you and all the very best . 😎🏴
Thanks so much mate. Fisheries that good are rare here too. Haha The last two summers have been cooler and wetter than average which I assume is what has made the fishing so good. I hope you've had a ripper day mate.
What a productive little creek! Love it!
Thanks mate, sure is a ripper.
Love it mate, great adventure with awesome fishing, always good when the effort rewards
Thanks mate, sure was a ripper session.
Loved it mate what a Beautiful Stream🤓👍🇦🇺
Thanks Paul, sure is a ripper mate.
Great video as always Robbie. A lot of nice fish caught too. Looking forward to the next one 🤙🏻
Thanks so much Dan.
Love yr work Robbie You’re excitement and energy is inspirational mate.
Thanks so much Scott, although there wasn't too much energy left by the end of this trip. Haha
Hi Robbie I love your vids keep it mate
Thank you so much mate.
Always good to see wild trout thriving great video Robbie
Thanks mate. 👍👍
Just love waiting for Sunday evening. Only 10 minutes in so far and I’m loving it. Spectacular location you always deliver a fantastic fishing adventure 😁
Thank you so much for your kind words Sharon. I hope you've had a great weekend.
what an awesome day, some really nice rainbow trout, I'm sure you had a good sleep that night
Thanks mate, you're not wrong. I was too buggered to even have a cold beer.
Having a bath is a nice relaxing way to end the day but in your case maybe not. At least you didn't lose the glasses like a friend of mine once did after taking an unscheduled dip in the Buckland.
G'day Robbie. Some nice fish for a small waterway. What got me excited was the ability to actually walk up it without the possibility of being attacked by the dreaded blackberry vines. To see the countryside untouched so far from this curse is marvellous.
Thanks Steve. They're a double edged sword the blackberries. On one hand they shade the water, and on the other hand they are an absolute nightmare to fish around.
Hey mate Great walk a good mate & some great fish! What a day we’ll done ✅
Thanks so much Blaine, It sure was an amazing day.
Great stuff Robbie, awesome fishing and love the old stories from camping as a young fella 👌🎣
Thanks so much Wayne.
Absolutely fabulous video mate. Lots of action and great to see Sandy back again too.
Thanks so much Glen. He is so super fit. Haha Believe it or not he is in his 50's. LOL He didn't get puffed all day. LOL 😅
Top video mate, surely an epic adventure. Lovely pristine country to fish too. I'm surprised you did keep some of the big boys for the smoker or the bbq 👍 Cheers 😀
Thanks Trevor. They would have madey bag even heavier than it was. LOL Especially if I had to pack an insulated bag and ice bricks.
Awesome trip to awesome place with some awesome fish well done mate really enjoyed that one 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Cam. This one took everything I have to make it to the end. Haha
That was one of your best vids mate. And that’s saying something! Congrats to you and the camo man 🤘🎣
Hey Jamie thank you so much mate.
Robbie, as found by the lost lady in her Honda Jazz in the Mitta region, some lollies will keep you going for a fair while. Like you, she's a non-drinker and her gift of wine for a relative did help her during her five day ordeal. Perhaps your "very fit" friend could carry you out? I shall now watch the show. We sure had a chilly weekend.
Haha thanks mate. I haven't been able to watch that story. Every time the news is on I seem to be busy. They just had it on the news 5 minutes ago but I was in the phone to my dad. LOL As for the non drinking.... The wheel fell off that wagon a few weeks ago mate. Haha
WOW mate that was just awesome. That was such a pretty spot almost unbelievable, and so were those rainbows.
Thanks mate, it sure was an amazing place to fish.
What an amazing fishing adventure with one of your great friends & also bringing back memories. I also had to have a 10min break to make a cuppa haha. Keep up the great fishing videos.
Hahahaha thanks so much Andrew. I should have edited in an intermission. 🤣🤣😂
Possibly the best fishing flick I have ever watched, luv ya dedication Robbie, amaaazing
Thank you so much Robert.
Good on ya Robbie, You went further than i venture and im relatively fit. Lovin the vids, particularly the small creeks that most people wouldnt think hold decent fish. Keep em comin mate, cheers .👍
Thanks so much Greg.
Nice video well done guys 👍
Thanks so much mate.
Gorgeous gorge!
Sure is mate, it's a beautiful and hidden part of the world.
@@robbiefishing Sweet! Good to see lots of fish in that stream! (Even IF they were introduced pests!)
Epic adventure robbie
Thanks Mic, one that I won't forget any time soon.
That’s a crazy amount of fish in a tiny little creek mate congrats on an awesome video and a very long walk great job
Thanks so much Michael.
Another superb video Robbie, next level i reckon. I really like the longer ones. I thought that creek was very interesting because the riparian habitat was so varied. In places there was lots of cover and the bank side vegetation was dense. However in others, there was evidence of over grazing, erosion and almost zero cover. Also, the fish sizes were outstanding. I guess with all the recent rain, fish have come back in some of these waters.
Thanks Gary, I thought the same thing. When I use to fish it as a kid it was a lot more overgrown. I think that if we get a hot summer next year these trout will be in trouble.
This is the second time I have watched this video. Just love it thank you Robbie 🤗
Thank you so much for your amazing support Sharon.
I mean walking up the river in hard to access places were you had to fish up the river for km in order to get out. Never once saw anyone else doing it except for my friends
Hi Robbie this looks like a magic session mate, absolutely loved this your vids are truly amazing 🍺👍🏽Al
Thank you so much for your kind words Allan.
Grabbed some popcorn and a drink to watch this one. What an epic adventure for your guys. Beautiful countryside, plenty of fish, and a great mate to share it all with. The best part, no trip to the E.R. LOL Awesome job with the video, can't imagine how long this took to edit, but great work and thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much Larry. Haha Any trip that doesn't end in hospital is a good trip. LOL It took a full day to edit this. I had 408 individual files to sort through and cull, and then once culled it was time to edit. LOL
@@robbiefishing Wow, that is a huge number, once again, well done!!!
Dunno where you guys were fishing this weekend! I was up Mitta Mitta and got absolutely drenched 😂 still caught a few browns so can’t complain. Nice video mate!
Thanks mate. This wasn't filmed this weekend though, it was filmed about a week ago.
Hi Robbie At the 24mins mark u say listen to the birds ! Heard u say it in plenty of other videos ..... when you hear birds in the bush ! That's the best form of brain stimulation which has been proved by neurologists and studies ! Best you can do fishing in the bush.... listen to the birds and the water ! Take the music headset out and connect with the bush and Mother Nature ! Solid trout ! Licking my lips for the spawn run and holiday mode soon ! Lol
Awesome video, a great Trout adventure boys 👍
Thanks Biffo.
Wow what beautiful scenery and great fishing We sure have a lot to be thankful for it’s amazing scenery and the fishing with Sandy was something else I still have the article you wrote for North East Angler about Sandy The Camo man it’s one of the best articles you have written
Thanks so much Peter. WOW That was a long time ago now. We had an incredible day on the redfin recently, without the camera. He's such an inspirational man.
Outstanding
Nice 🎣 👍
Wow ripper country not to many have done that ripper fish and brilliant video.
Thanks so much Brett. Sure is beautiful country up there.
@@robbiefishing brilliant stuff material top stuff.
Great Vid Mate! I have to say your video thumbnails are absolute;y picturesque.
Thank you so much Vince.
Fantatic video
Thanks so much Matt.
Lots of hours but good results makes a beer look good after all that hard work
Thanks mate. I think I was wrecked even beyond wanting a beer that night. LOL
Mate that was easily the best video I have ever seen for trout. Greta vid mate, have just recently gotten into trout fishing her in SA. There aren't near as many but we still get onto a few. I have a channel of my own and am looking to make a few trout videos. Cheers for the inspiration mate. Any tips for editing?
Thanks so much mate. Good luck with your channel. I like to keep my editing simple. I use a program called Movavi Video Suite. If you're wo during what editing to use, I recommend it. You can utilise it outright for about $100 which means no monthly subscriptions.
Hi Robbie! These beautiful rainbows you were catching! Are they wild trout? Or have they been introduced by fisheries over the years? If they are wild trout,WOW how good is the Echo system going. Fantastic episode mate.
Thanks mate. They are definitely all wild fish. This creek wouldn't have been stocked since the 1980s if not earlier.
These afe the kinds of day trips i froth on doing some day! Just no clue where to go 😂
Thanks mate. It sure was the kind of trip that dreams are made of.
The fish you caught beyond you was beyond 2000 hahaha
Hahahahaha
Mate well done on that effort never doubted you you looked stuffed at the end bet you slept well
Thanks Jeff. I had the absolute worse cramps imaginable that evening. Haha but yes, I really did sleep like a log. LOL
Great video Rob I’ve got a question for you how do you stop line twist when using bladed spinners?
Thanks mate. I didn't really have any issues with it on this trip, but I know it does happen. You can use a small keel on the line to prevent it spinning. You can also take the lure off and lay a heap of line on the water, in the current and it will untwist.
I'm curious about manufacturers. Here we fish Mepps Aglia, Panther Martin, Daredevil, and a variety of generic spinners. Any of these found your way? Thanks for sharing your trout adventure. Beautiful waters, beautiful trout.
Thank you so much for watching. I've used Mepps and Panther Martin, but have not heard of the others. I think they are American made spinners, is that correct? These ones I was using are made in France.
@@robbiefishing Daredevil is American made and to my knowledge they are one of the oldest companies making tackle in the world. The Daredevil design is more of a "spoon" than spinner. The generic brands are made all over the world. Countries with inexpensive labor. China most notably. Even without identification these generic brands are obviously inferior quality but they do catch fish. When you handle the generics you can feel the cheapness. Thinner blades. Rough edges. Inferior hooks. Both Mepps Anglia and Panther Martin are excellent products in my opinion. Thank you again for sharing your adventures.
I think your little camera box is something like the modern version of the old jam jar 'tackle box'. I'm not sure, but it seems to me that maybe there was a couple of years of poor conditions in that creek. Either low flow or something happened and few survived it then spawned last year. That would go a fair way to explaining the gap in sizes.
100% mate. This creek is marginal and susceptible to hot dry summers. The last 2 mild wet summers have created perfect conditions for them ... Until the next hit dry summer.
HEY YOU !!! nice fishing ..... have you ever tried the upper reaches of the Buffalo river ... Abbeyard etc ?
Thanks mate. Yep, I use to fish it a lot. I have been up there this season but fished it a few times last season. Beautiful country up there mate.
@@robbiefishing I haven't been up there for almost 40 years ... when my grandparents were still alive we would do a family holiday at Myrtleford and usually spend a couple of days camping up there. Just out of interest, the series of dams on Back Creek were made by my uncles when they farmed the property that runs along Back Creek
I'm going to lake mulwala tomorrow for 4days
we were doing this in the late 70s, 80s and 90s.
Me too. Well not the 70s. I was born in the 70s, but I was doing it in the 80s.
G'day Robbie, I've been a fan for years mate, another great video. I don't expect an exact location, but can I ask if you on private land in this one, or is this somewhere anyone can fish? Just great country! Cheers, Adam.
Thanks Adam. It's a bit of both. Unless you walk the full distance and stay in the creek, you will have to cross probate land to access the creek.
A long Great Sunday arvo video. Thanks Cheers mate.
Thanks so much Steve.
What section were you in at the Woolen Mills mate? I was arvo leading hand at Benalla Spinners for 17years in the wooden carding section, before it became spun yarn clearly. Cheers mate
Hey Mick, Sandy and I worked in the spinners, although I went on to lirn a number of other machines such as roving and drawing. I worked at Benalla Spinners in early 2000 for a little while. About 6 weeks, and absolutely hated it. LOL I remember my payslip came from Godfrey Hurst.
Nice work Robbie, where did you fish?
Thanks mate. I am in North East Victoria.
@@robbiefishing Yep got that from ur Wanga comment, which river thanks?
Hi Robbie what video editing tool do you use pleasr love your work
Hi mate, I use Movavi video suite.
@@robbiefishing Thank you
Really wish I could go with you mate
Also would u recommend a 5cm brown trout lure hard body for catching in a river
Absolutely I would mate. Great choice of lure for trout.
Hi Robbie just a quick question.. ehen do the yabbies and shrimp stop crawling
Hi Graeme, they're pretty much stopped her now. Usually around mid autumn they slow down although this can vary from waterway to waterway.
Thanks for the info.. hopefully one day we can catch up for a fish
Are there any creeks like that , that you know of in or around ballarat
Hi Jeff, I don't know that area at all sorry mate.
I had to laugh sandy is head to toe in Camo and you have your favourite green tshirt on haha
Haha I love that shirt. It's too hot in summer but perfect in the cooler months and blends in with the bush a bit. LOL
@@robbiefishing 🤣
Your face hair is amazing today!
Haha thank you so much.
ive hooked a galaxias by the eye with a spinner 🤣
LOL I bet you were as shocked as I was. Haha
@@robbiefishing yeah mate i was shocked hahaha 🤣
I would have liked to have see the Camo man in this video, but he just seemed to blend right into the background - looked like you were talking to yourself the whole video ....
Hahahaha he just blended in. LOL 😂
U need a wet teatowel an a ice brick in your backpack so as too take one home for the smoker... pretty country you were in...
Thanks Terry. Haha The idea on such a long hike is to keep the pack weight down. LOL 🤣
Epic day 👍🏼
I was very stiff and sore that night. LOL Cramp central.
Id hesitate to rip the hook out with the line trick too ha ha.
Haha it's easier said than done when you're on your own. LOL.
Haha it's easier said than done when you're on your own. LOL.
Yeah I've been there and had my buddy do it Couldn't believe it worked So we kept on fishing 😅
Where was it that you looked on google maps and you’d only gone about a quarter of the way?? 😂😂
Haha I thought we may have been half way. I got quite a shock. LOL
is that a new intro?
Nah mate, it is one of my old ones. I just used it for something different.
i love packing snakes when i go fishing end up eating the whole packet though
Haha To be honest, I ate very little on this trip. I took a lot of food with me and brought most if it home. LOL I was super thirsty though.
You could’ve kept the old rabbit trap; they make great doorbell mounts. A mate had one with a sign which read. Go Ahead Press the button. I Dare you. His weekends were no longer interrupted…
Hahahahaha that's hilarious. Brilliant.
Lets just HOPE those trout DON'T get misappropriated by the usual mob!
Hey UF, I don't think many of the "over harvesters" would walk that distance just to keep a feed. Secondly, I think the threat of a hot summer is a greater concern than fishing pressure. 2 cool damp summers have created this. 1 harsh summer could quickly take it away.... Again!
@@robbiefishing Umm lol! That wasn't WHAT I meant! I guess it was a WHOOSH moment! I meant the Rainbow trout getting misappropriated BY the rainbow mob! Hahah! ;o)
Hahaha I totally misread that one. LOL 😆
@@robbiefishing Hehe yeah! I just thought as the fish are rainbow, the fish would support their nonsense! (They'd try it for sure!)
I walked up behind my mate with a shotgun, went bang & my mate fell of the deck chair 🤣
Hahahaha geez I miss the 1980's and 90's. LOL 🤣
horay a long video
Thanks Charlie. I hope you enjoy it mate.
Good video robbie I do walks like that myself catch & release as I like fishing but don't like eating them in a few streams ID like to know what the rivers called very good video to watch keep up the good work
