  • Why did you use a soundproofing sponge? this sponge is mounted ONLY to the enclosed housing so that it absorbs the pressure generated by the loudspeaker. The pressure that the sponge absorbs should move the passive membrane. if you removed the sponge, the bass would be much stronger.

  • hi there nice video. i have a couple of sugestions here: (please take this gladly, im just giving an advice for a better result, i ike your videos, really.) 1. desing: the size of the enclousure (i mean each one speaker volume) may be a little low in volume for those speakers. why do you use such a large total volume just to use a little volume for each speaker? - (the passive radiators in each enclousure really don't matter.) i would (it's just my thinking) take the desing just a little more efficient, installing the tweeters just closer to each the speaker and make larger each speaker enclousure, just leaving a thight space for the battery and the amp in the total volume enclousure desing. the tweeters would be des centered to the upper line of the box, not in the horizont axis of the speakers, that increases the acoustics. the wiring would be routed on the back of the box, not in front. and between the enclousure holes, seal those cables with hot glue. (no sound presure leak) the final assembly of the back cover table with the passive radiators, would not be glued to the box, a little strip of rubber in the inner cover side provide seal and that cover will be a serviciable cover attached to the box with a set of screws (one neveer knows when/how to improve it or repair it, eventually) the passive radiators location in the back are not bad, but it will provide a lille more body to sound if they were installed in the upper side, or the laterals sides of the box, (like the usual implementation) beacause of the sound phase may be "out of time" in the speaker reference, and may be some phase cancellation there... and that is a very random value to reach in this adaptation/improvement, (one more time, just my thinking) in any way, i like it. the pollifill or "absorbent whool" will be used at "hearing", depending in you taste, (testing dont hurt anyone) 2. electronics: in the beggining, as a viewer, i don't know the exact amp. reference, but that amp, seems to be a 50 WATTS x2. so: you are using a couple full range speakers at 10 watt 3.3Ohm, those speakers will be make clipping the amp. and/or will be burned, or burn the entire sistem in the worst case. the impedance of the speakers for those class D amps, are minimum 4 Omhs and the wattage will equal or greater than the amp wattage. that will make a secure install and electronic desing of the circuit in it's charges. you can desing and use a simple 1st order crossover in two way desing just with a couple np. capacitors at the same value in each circuit and improve the sound making an accurate wave cutting. 3.3 to 4.7 uF. just would be fine. the tweeters are a 20 watts x 8 Ohm, so in your parallel circuit your impedance would be less than 3.3 Omh. so there are not load balance, (still in danger). the tweeters must have in it's circuit before the capacitor at least a resistor from 5 to 10 watts x 8.2 Ohms to 10 Omhs. that will protect your tweeters from burning and make a nice and smoother sound. i hope that sugestions are take for good and help you improve your future builts. hoping see your new projects. greetings from Colombia.

  • Very nice execution of a bad design. Sorry, but if you are going to mount tweeters that close together, you might as well make it a MONO speaker and save a lot of money... The whole point of STEREO is having sounds come from two directions. This wouldn't sound like stereo unless you put your face right up to it! However, it is a very, very nice mono-sounding speaker. ;-) Easy fix: Move tweeters to the outside edges of the front panel, toward the top corners, and move full-range drivers in a little, just enough to make room for the tweeters. Leave the middle bare or add a big volume knob. Yes, it's a totally different look, but at least it is stereo!

    • You are right! But also remember that a portable speaker isn't that big. It needs to stay portable. So sometimes you just need to make it like that. But it really doesn't sound bad.

    • This is why, when I make one of these things, I won't use glue for everything :p It's better to use screws or neodymium magnets.
