EDIT: Okay, I sounded overly negative. The music cues are perfect in this and the movie is a solid film I really enjoy. That said, there's some camerawork that's sloppy (by today's standards):
- You'll notice in the first shot, Lane is holding the sax with two hands. Then, after an angle change, he has an arm around Monique.
- You can see many, many bicycle tracks across the grass, making it obvious the final take was take number twelve.
- The camera work is terribly shaky as they pan up toward the Los Angeles skyline. Where was their tripod?
Trivia: Lane drives his Camaro southbound down CA-2 Glendale Fwy toward Dodger Stadium. The film crew set up their shot from a hill above the freeway off Round Top Drive.
One of the best movies and ending. The ‘80s were amazing. No decade will come close.
I agree
Totally agree...... No cell phones, no internet, weather was awesome and tv shows where still decent.
1980’s a memory that will never fade in my mind …. I finally bought a 67 Camaro this past summer that I wanted since I seen this movie in 1985
Absolutely!!!!❤😃
@@JayO1963 what a great comment! So true!
I fell in love with this song...with one listen.
Me too!! I wish it was on iTunes or Amazon Music!
What’s the song?
My wife is 30 and I'm 50 and she smiled at the movie but I just love it. I love Barney from the Flintstones asking If he can take out Beth lol lol. This movie is a classic!!!!
MY FAVORITE PART TOO!!!!!
This song hits my nostalgia bone soooo hard.
Same!!! Wish I could go back.
Mine too...
80s just made you want to be the coolest
@@Gildedbutterfly1976 I was thinking the same thing. It made me start crying in sadness that it’s gone. I feel like a has been.
@clemflynn7067 I feel the same way. My life has been quite difficult for the last couple of years and I don't see any way out, so I look at it all with a lot of melancholy...
I dressed up as the pig burger mascot for Halloween complete with my own home made Eddie Van Hamburger, it was the best ever
Do it again this Halloween
That's spectacular 😂
It is so hard to explain this movie to anyone who never saw it. Been trying anyway ever since the first time I saw it when it came out! One of those movies you never wanted to end...
I remember watching this movie in 1985 with my brother when I was 10. It was an amazing decade. Those were the days. 😭😫
love the 80s. iconic. that ending was epic with dodger stadium and L.A. in the backdrop.
5:05 "the film's over ... you can go now" Loved song at the end... Another reason why the 80s were the GOLDEN AGE of film ... " Surrealist Comedy Gold - sadly they dont make movies like this anymore... 😆 Ohhh !! And I WANT MY TWO DOLLARS !!!
Gotta hand it to the kid even falling off the K-12 he still shows up at the end to get his $2
Plus going through the car wash. Johnny is indestructible!
Such a great song, brings tears to my eyes, closing theme for one of the best movies of the eighties.
You and me both
Had that Camaro in HS, loved this movie. He’s skiing on one ski!
should we never be to old to enjoy this.
Love this movie soundtrack even better
For some people, Christmas doesn't start until Hans falls out of the tower... for me, it's this
John Cusack starred in the most classic movies of all time in the 80’s. This is my favorite with Say Anything a close second. Better Off Dead is the most quotable of the two!
This movie was fucking awesome! This song in the long version heard in the end credits is perfect! I'm still waiting for my two dollars!
I used to watch this with my brother's i was 6 yrs old...i also watched this the night before i found out my brother died so this movie will forever have meaning 😢
Love this movie and this song. The extended movie version is the best.
Rupert Hine is awesome. It just sounds so frickin' great.
So sad he passed away in 2020. But he'll never forgotten.
2021 and I’m still waiting for my 2 dollars
Well, you'll get them with increase because of currency inflation. 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
@@DanielAbreu1984 lol 😭😂
DUDE SO MANY MEMORIES !!!I WAS 10 WHEN I FIRST SAW THIS MOVIE!!!!
And just like that: I’m in high school again!!!!!
my brother would rent this movie constantly with 16 candles until bought them both for his birthday!
I first watched this on DVD
.... I agree, the theatrical version of this song is the best....
as are the same case with all 80s movie soundtracks.
I know , I love this song👍👋😀
read-me-like-a-book....i-was-blind....you-chang'd-my-mind~~~~
I agree.. a lot more instruments
My Nostalgia gets so heavy 😢
Retro 80s movie!!.."sweet".
I wonder if that kid ever got his $2.00 at the end when he approached them on the baseball field?
Probably got beat off with the sax 😝
Watched this yesterday!
Love this movie great song to end a great movie
MAKES ME WANNA GO SKIING!!!
WITH ONE SKI!
I never noticed the goofs, don't think most people would. Still a great ending, wish the extended version of the song was on the album.
Love this movie
The 80s were great for movies about teenagers. They were all great! I knew a kid like Badger when I was growing up. No matter what he worked on, it would ALWAYS work!
Probably the decade that I return to the most for nostalgia. I didn't realize how good life was back then. I really miss those days.
Beautiful. I'm an 80's child and proud of it.
Hell yeah. I’m proud baby of 1980 ❤️
Nostalgia at it's best 👌
Best movies and best ending! Where’s my $2!!!!! Classic!!!
This tune and many other great ones from such a great time of tunes and film have been in my vehicle since their inception.
This was done really well! Thank you to whoever edited this. I was looking at the same time for the rest of the songs in this movie.
The Film's Over.....You Can Go Now. 😪
Thanks for sharing. ❤
Only a few movies can I hear the song and see an incredible ending. This one I remember well. She read me like a book. I admit it and it still stings.
why can't they upload this to spotify PLEASE
1:49 Should have made a sequel about what happened to the Space Shuttle launched thru the roof by Lane's brother Badger. Based on scale of the parents - I doubt he could fit inside. But hey its just a movie!
I remember it gave me a strange, feeling, wondering if the poor kid could make it back to earth. I know it sounds quite strange, but I was disturbed by that.
Great song and movie. Too bad the song is not on spotify
Movies of the 80s like this had the perfect pairings with music.
Did anybody else ever notice back in the 80s that the little brother badger in better off dead never says a word not one line of dialogue in the whole film 😂😂
Super película !
Can't get this song on Spotify.
Badger has the right idea.
Especially now, leave this world and the Covid 19 virus behind.
WHAT'S THE MOVIE ?
I have heard John Cusack hates this movie.
Does anyone know what Freeway Lane's Comaro is Traveling Down??
It's the Glendale Freeway (CA 2)
✨👏✨☺✨👏✨
I wish I could get in that hot tub Time Machine and go back to a much better time….
Be careful, Lane, that's how lips get chapped.
Compare this gen to the mills, we were smarter......
I WANT MY TWO DOLLARS!
😭😭😭😭😭😭
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
For a long time I thought this was a Fixx song. It sounds so close to their sound. Anyone else?
Fair guess. There is a distinct difference though in the sound of the Fixx vs Rupert Hine
It also sounds a good deal like Wang Chung. All those angular guitars, spare piano motifs and strident synths sound a lot like WC’s first two records.
Cy Curnin, lead singer of The Fixx, sings lead vocals on this Rupert Hines tune.
I want my two dollars!
She is a cute nerd.
.My 2 dollars

"- You'll notice in the first shot, Lane is holding the sax with two hands. Then, after an angle change, he has an arm around Monique. " Editing error, not a camerawork error. Plenty of similar goofs in the most modern, expensive films. "- You can see many, many bicycle tracks across the grass, making it obvious the final take was take number twelve." You can barely notice. Plenty of such errors in modern films. Would have cost them nothing but a little time to erase the lines after each shot, but then...who would notice? "- The camera work is terribly shaky as they pan up toward the Los Angeles skyline. Where was their tripod? " lol. Tripod? That shot wasn't accomplished with a tripod. Likely a crane shot, which is a noisy way to film anything.
Well, these things happen in films because they shoot the stuff several times and then take different takes edited together. Here's another one: When Lane draws on the chalkboard with the compass that makes everyone's hair stand on end, there is a cutaway to the students then back to Lane. You can see the line he drew changes between the two shots.
