  • Have you guys done a transmission swap before? What method is your recommendation?

    • Put an 2009 Outback XT trans and rear diff in my turbo Crosstrek (XV). Used the GRB WRX clutch and flywheel then upgraded a bunch of other little parts while I was in there: - Fork - Pivot ball - SS clutch line - Bushings - Braces - Etc. Driveshaft, axles and everything else bolted right up

  • snow ball effect indeed. Replacing my rear subframe and t frame due to rust. Drained my rear diff and chunks of metal coming out. My rear knuckle assembly and axles are just as rotted. Might aswell do full 6 speed conversion with sti hubs aswell. This video came in clutch. Thanks guys

  • Talk about coming full circle --I still remember when I picked up my 6-speed transmission from you guys 3 years ago. Fun fact, it was actually a Forester STi 6-speed with the aforementioned longer gear ratios, which is very much appreciated when hooning on the countryside roads of Aomori haha. That along with the EJ207-swap y'all did for me are hands-down my favorite mods on the car. Thanks to you guys, I'm manifesting my OEM+ goals one step at a time

  • Hey guys 👋 I just recently found your channel and im so glad I have 😊 I was wondering if this 6 speed swap would work the exact same on my V4 GC8 STI Type RA 555 VLimited 🤔 I've also been considering doing the merge swap from my EJ20K to either a usdm 205 or 207 and running a 6 speed DCCD with a 3.90 final drive instead of my 5 speed DCCD with the 4.44 final drive. My current transmission is SUPER fun in the city 😄 but BRUTAL on long highway drives 😔 Lastly have you guys considered selling your merge harnesses already complete. Especially one for my car lol 😆 That would help me out GREATLY if you did 😅

    @Silver_Back81@Silver_Back818 ай бұрын
    • Thanks for watching! Do you have the rear 2 pots and R180 diff setup? If you do then it should be the same method. The 4.44 final drive in the Type RA’s are super fun but you are definitely right about the top end speed. We have considered selling them but getting GD harness are starting to get harder to find so we decided not to but we would be more than glad to assist you in your project🙂

      @OkiSubies@OkiSubies8 ай бұрын
    • @OkiSubies I do 🥳 Do you guys source out your own 205 or 207 motors with the full wiring harnesses?? 🤔 If so have you ever considered selling the complete package?? I live in Vancouver BC and the only 205 or 207 motors I can ever find are USDM which I'm assuming will be the same but finding the complete harnesses is IMPOSSIBLE 😩

      @Silver_Back81@Silver_Back818 ай бұрын
    • @@Silver_Back81 We get engines and harnesses from part out cars, Mainland Japan, junkyards, Yahoo auctions and any other way we can get our hands on them lol. The good news is the harnesses can be used from even the JDM ej205’s because the wiring for the most part is the same as the STI. Unfortunately shipping something like that can be quite expensive and we aren’t sure how to go about that. Getting harness and heads shipped is a little more doable and would be a good option if you are planning to build the motor. Or just get the harness merged from us and source an EJ207. So many options lol😅

      @OkiSubies@OkiSubies8 ай бұрын
    • @OkiSubies Sweet 😁👍 One option I was looking at is to buy a forged USDM 205 short block and putting my EJ20K heads on it but I can't determine if that's possible. I'm assuming the 205 sensors on the block are different than my EJ20K. I also believe that the combustion chamber of my heads is smaller than the 205 and I would need to run a specific thicker head gasket. So after watching your swap videos it looks like it makes more sense to just run a complete 205 engine and use your merge harness instead 😅

      @Silver_Back81@Silver_Back818 ай бұрын
    • @@Silver_Back81 you are doing some great research man! That is a very good option! Especially considering they have plug and play options for aftermarket ECU’s like Haltech. We just helped a customer do something very similar to his Type R! We bought a GRB STI short block and he put the ej20k heads with an HKS 1.2mm head gasket and tuned on a Haltech ECU. He also put the twin scroll vf37 on it and the car was extremely fun and responsive. You could technically even do a hybrid build and put a 2.5L short block on your ej20k heads, you would need to get the heads chamber matched but then you would have a torque monster lol

    @malxsox791@malxsox7913 ай бұрын
    • You would need to put your speed sensor in the 02 transmission. Depending on what month in 2002 would determine if it has DCCD though. If you have dccd I would try and get a dccd 6 speed also.

    • Yes that is the bugeye Type RA so it has DCCD and female axles. Unfortunately I am not 100% sure on the transmission code we used but if it has dccd and have the stubs for the female axles in the transmission it will work. I want to say it was B3KA but here is more than one that works, here is the link with the different codes. www.rallispec.com/downloads/Transmission%20ID%20Chart_Public.pdf

  • the roof vent is only rated at 80kph during opening , its undamped and will fly open and damage the latch. once its open it can hang on even at over 200kph. ive tested it.

    @kUNCHRIS@kUNCHRIS8 ай бұрын
    • With it being rally inspired we wish that was the case but unfortunately that is not true. The Japanese writing on the lid literally says to keep the lid closed while going 80km or higher. We have had more than one customer not know about that and it break when running it while open. I am glad yours hasn’t been damaged while running it while it is open though.

      @OkiSubies@OkiSubies8 ай бұрын
    • @@OkiSubies there seems to be a misconception. it will only rip the latch or damage it if you open at speeds over 80kph... due to the sudden rush of air hitting the half opened hatch. if you open them at lower speeds before 80kph, they will hang on just fine even at higher speeds . I tune plenty of group N Subarus with these vents and crews run them at quite high speeds never seen a failure when properly used. It’s been a topic in GC8 and spec C forums for years and that’s was the general consensus.

      @kUNCHRIS@kUNCHRIS8 ай бұрын
    • @@kUNCHRIS I hear you loud and clear but this isn’t a misconception, the Japanese written on the bottom and our experience says other wise. I have seen multiple GDB Spec C’s and GC8 V limiteds break by simply driving at high speeds not opening them. I totally understand where you are coming from but with these cars and plastic getting older, the need to follow the directions written on the vents will be increasingly necessary.
