I have a question: so yesterday I swam 2200meters leisurely in 60 min. And today I had a time issue with pool hours so I swam 2200meters in 53 min. Did I burn more calories when I swam longer OR did I burn the same number of calories swimming the same distance???? I swim all strokes and I NEVER stop at the wall (I’m an open water person so stopping between things is weird to me)
Wow amazing swimming info💯🎯💪🔥
You will continue to burn calories throughout the day because the repairing of the muscles this can take up to 48 hours. This is why its recommended to have 2-3 days rest especially if you're only going for weight loss.
Rob videos or instead of taking 3days off, vary your workouts with kick, pull, IM to target different muscle groups while others are recovering.
Not really no. There’s nothing noticeable going on in terms of calorie burn in muscle repair, not enough to skip training.
Yeah, you'll burn 50kcal tops through out the day though.
I'll rest when I'm dead. The only rest day I take is Sunday. M, W and Sat is full on 60 min swim sets. Tues and Thursday I work w a trainer for perfecting my stroke. Friday is working on what I learned tuesd and wednesday. You can rest in the pool and still burn calories. Breathing control exercises, practicing your start off the block/wall. There are people at our pool that walk laps every day to build up endurance and only swim 1 or 2 laps. Forward progress is forward progress.
Hey Fares another awesome W.W. 👊 My Fav Post Swim snack (after the protein shake) is Beef Brisket loaded fries with Buffalo sauce! Holy cow it hits the spot!😁 (no pun intended) 😉 ✌️🇦🇺
Glad you enjoyed it! That sounds yum! Happy swimming!!
I've been doing the 1 hour exercise class at LA fitness 4 times a week. It has helped tremendously. Losing weight and becoming a better swimmer is always a good thing. Each class burns about 500 calories.
Nice just started swimming.
eggs and salmon plus or minus cottage cheese and a protein shakes with supergreen powder - my brekkie for last 5 years or so
My regular after workout recovery snack is low fat chocolate milk and a protein bar (choc & peanut butter).
I love oatmeal with beaten egg whites. Adds protein and makes the oatmeal real fluffy. Top it with peanut butter, granola and honey! Yum!
That sounds delicious and healthy!
After gaining weight over lockdown, I've finally started swimming for 1hour a day 5days a week, I currently weight 205pounds wish me luck I think I'm going to need it 😂
You got this! Good luck, Michael, and happy swimming!
Hey . Did you get results?
Update?
Me, too, Michael. I started last Monday swimming for one hour M-F. Today was 3rd day of Week #2. I'm slow but building up. Currently at 28 laps. Cheering us both on!
Updates?
My typical AM workout is an hour an a half and anywhere between 2800 and 5000 meters, usually about 1350kcal. After that I frequently go home and eat a pint of Ben and Jerry’s cookie dough ice cream. Mmmm. It’s why I swim.
I usually go for a 55 min swim 3 times a week, 2 hours before lunch. My favourite post swimming food is rice with meat and veggies.
Tomaten mit Käse, Aktivitätskalorien 591, Gesamtkalorien 709, METs 7,7 in 55 Minuten 2.300 m
Definitely Chocolate milk !! After one hour intense swimming!
açaí bowl, bananas, blueberries, granola (Paleo) and tons of cinnamon in a blender!
Great video on a subject I have wondered for years and could never quite find my answers such as this info. I appreciate your research and the link provided to calculate my own status. Please delete your background music....it is distracting from your essential information. Again, super good video and subject. Thank you.
I enjoy a smoothie at the end... 1 carrot, 1 celery, handful of almonds, 1 tblspn dark chocolate shavings, 1 tblspn greens powder, protein milk container my wife buys... I prefer vanilla, and some frozen fruit of any kind no pref... blend it all and chug it down. Atkins snack for lunch then a 50% veggies/25% protein/ 25% carb dinner. Then sleep like a baby. Once I'm back down to my fighting weight I'll focus more on building muscle and strength conditioning. Right now it's 80% core 20% lifting moderate dumbbell weights.
I am not hungry after swimming. Still have lots of energy. I eliminated wheat and sugar. If I have to eat, I eat real food--fish and salad with homemade dressings. Lots of olives. Green beans and grass fed ground beef sauteed together. Everything organic. Just a few examples. If I have to snack, I eat macadamia nuts. Not too much. I try not to snack. I only swim I,800 yards total. Different strokes similar to your drills. I am already done by 45 minutes and beat up. Then relax in hot tab for 15 minutes. Or run against the current in the water three times for ~ 50 meter each round.
Post workout meal would be 2 servings of veg and 2 servings of protein with rice. For snacks I have fruits (oranges, pomegranates, dragonfruit, just anything you can get your hands one and unsalted mixed nuts or plain crackers and cereal if I'm feeling hungry midday.
Started swimming again recently. I'll be 60 this year but I've always swam and I can't believe how hungry I'm getting. Now I'm doing it to take off weight but I'm having to consume more because the energy that I'm burning. So I'm staying with brown rice, black beans for carbs. Maybe baked chicken definitely. I'm eating eggs before I go and swim because I work out before I swim

Amateur cyclist here who rides about 100 miles a week with 100 miles rides about once every few months. We just finished our pool and I am looking to add swimming into the mix to help my core. Do you have any recommendations for adding swimming into a routine for someone who has descent cardio engine would be appreciated. Thanks for the excellent content.
Hi there! In order to recommend a good plan for you, we need to know more about your swimming ability. Download the MySwimPro app and enter your swimming times, strokes and goals and the app will recommend a personalized training plan for you!
@@FaresKsebati Thank you!
Hi my friend, and regards from Mexico , just a question : why the apple watch ( for example) don’t show the correct kilocalories burned when we made trainings whit kick? I usually burn 450 / 500 in one hour without a kick, and in the same time and the same distance when I put kick on my training is less?
Wearables have a hard time tracking non-competitive swimming styles. To solve this, we created Drill Mode. You can use Drill Mode during any Open (unguided) swim mode to add in a kick or drill set that the Apple Watch would normally not be able to track. To use Drill Mode, you need to Enter Drill Mode, perform the kick or drill set, then Exit Drill Mode. To Enter Drill Mode: Be sure water lock is off by spinning the digital crown Swipe right to show the menu Tap on Drill Mode To Exit Drill Mode: Be sure water lock is off by spinning the digital crown Swipe right to show the menu Tap on End Drill Mode Enter your total kick/drill distance Tap OK and resume your swim workout
Michael Phelps ate thousands of calories when he was in his hardest phase of training!
Simon Swims insane
Just Thomas yeah when you’re swimming that much, you’ll lose weight if you don’t eat enough.
@@SimonShi Yeah 12,000 I believe I'm not that fast but could eat 4,000 in one meal and not put on weight for all them year's My best was about 8,000 a day from about 15, to 19 not every day but at lest 5 day's of the 7 I alwas found Thursday's I would not wonna eat as much. I was all ready consuming 3,000 by about 10 or 11 that was with only 5 seshion and no other traning.
Usain bolt apparently only has less then 3,000 calories a day I find it strange as running is meant to burn more yet most runners I can find eat about that including long distance were as most swimmers are over that easily.
@@brianlong2334 Running does not burn more calories than swimming simply because we are not made for water ot swimming we are made for land so water is a bit more effort. It includes more muscle than running (not saying that running is easy its just different) And even in swimmin sprinters and longer distance or fly swimmers have different practice. Bolt is a sprinter. Sprinters are known for training much less in a higber intensity but that burns less calories. Phelps had 3 practices a day and could swim fly for days (you can see that fly burns almost 900 calories) and a hard gym. While Bruno Fratus 50 free swims around 8 times a week and 3 times goes to the gym he will burn less calories.
Pork rinds and guacamole, or just pork rinds if guac is $$ that week.
i am 70 kgs. 5fet 8inches and i swim 200-250 breast stroke. is that average or below average?
You burn 800 kcal and then eat 1500 kcal🤦🏻♂️💪🏼
Gotta prepare the next practice right away :P
Still better than burning nothing throughout the day right ?
@@khanghuy1203 your body burns specific amounts of kcal (depends) each day without doing anything
😍 that’s great 😃 my favorite post meal is yum yum soup and a grapefruit mineral water 💦 😋
Carne asada quesidilla 4x alkaline waters 💧
❤️🔥
Usually not hungry after my morning 30 minute swim even with high intensity intervals. So I keep my fast going for an 1 hour after I arrive at work at 6am, then have a homemade scramble egg and ham sandwich on a whole wheat english muffin. With a side of coffee.
Sounds delicious!
At what tome do you swim, 5 am?
Im currently around 100 25m lengths in 1 hour, swimming 3/1 breaststrokes/forward crawl
Pretty much exactly where I stand at the moment :) swimming is just too awesome!
water
A Guinness(beer) with a whole Raw Egg
Bananas and sandwiches!!!
Dixie biscuit and coffee
How can breast be 337 ? It’s one of the most exhausting strokes?
Chocolate milk! (The whey protein kind 😉)
Maybe my math is bad, but your High Cal Workout looks like 3100 yards/meters to me. What am I missing?
What is the problem with swimming 60 minutes???🤔🤔🤔
Heating up the water with my calories. Fav snack: protein bar, baby!
Am I the only one who craves pasta as crazy after swimming?
What a disappointment i think im choosing taking a bike ride from now and on than making endless rounds in a pool.
Del taco.
I like the info and thanks but I wish you didn’t have that board full of stuff is overwhelming I’m not sure I can keep watching ….
protein drink, water and a banana

I eat one piece of bread with garlic butter and 4 eggs along with some milk (or Yakult).
@@takewealth Yummy! mmm Yakult :)
Can anyone swim butterfly for 60 minutes? This is such a false chart. They seem not to take the real data of swimming. I do not know the real data behind this, but there must be a lot of things wrong.

Uhh, I do 60mins breaststroke continuously. Its not that difficult? 🤣
You’re not doing intensely or you’d be burn out in 1 minute

Does swimming improve RMR like weightlifting?
Swimming is great for improving RMR! It's a cardio-heavy activity that builds lean muscle mass and can lead to improved performance with long lasting results!
