    • I have a question: so yesterday I swam 2200meters leisurely in 60 min. And today I had a time issue with pool hours so I swam 2200meters in 53 min. Did I burn more calories when I swam longer OR did I burn the same number of calories swimming the same distance???? I swim all strokes and I NEVER stop at the wall (I’m an open water person so stopping between things is weird to me)

  • You will continue to burn calories throughout the day because the repairing of the muscles this can take up to 48 hours. This is why its recommended to have 2-3 days rest especially if you're only going for weight loss.

    • Rob videos or instead of taking 3days off, vary your workouts with kick, pull, IM to target different muscle groups while others are recovering.

    • Not really no. There’s nothing noticeable going on in terms of calorie burn in muscle repair, not enough to skip training.

    • I'll rest when I'm dead. The only rest day I take is Sunday. M, W and Sat is full on 60 min swim sets. Tues and Thursday I work w a trainer for perfecting my stroke. Friday is working on what I learned tuesd and wednesday. You can rest in the pool and still burn calories. Breathing control exercises, practicing your start off the block/wall. There are people at our pool that walk laps every day to build up endurance and only swim 1 or 2 laps. Forward progress is forward progress.

  • I enjoy a smoothie at the end... 1 carrot, 1 celery, handful of almonds, 1 tblspn dark chocolate shavings, 1 tblspn greens powder, protein milk container my wife buys... I prefer vanilla, and some frozen fruit of any kind no pref... blend it all and chug it down. Atkins snack for lunch then a 50% veggies/25% protein/ 25% carb dinner. Then sleep like a baby. Once I'm back down to my fighting weight I'll focus more on building muscle and strength conditioning. Right now it's 80% core 20% lifting moderate dumbbell weights.

  • I am not hungry after swimming. Still have lots of energy. I eliminated wheat and sugar. If I have to eat, I eat real food--fish and salad with homemade dressings. Lots of olives. Green beans and grass fed ground beef sauteed together. Everything organic. Just a few examples. If I have to snack, I eat macadamia nuts. Not too much. I try not to snack. I only swim I,800 yards total. Different strokes similar to your drills. I am already done by 45 minutes and beat up. Then relax in hot tab for 15 minutes. Or run against the current in the water three times for ~ 50 meter each round.

Now I'm doing it to take off weight but I'm having to consume more because the energy that I'm burning. So I'm staying with brown rice, black beans for carbs. Maybe baked chicken definitely. I'm eating eggs before I go and swim because I work out before I swim

I usually burn 450 / 500 in one hour without a kick, and in the same time and the same distance when I put kick on my training is less?

    • Wearables have a hard time tracking non-competitive swimming styles. To solve this, we created Drill Mode. You can use Drill Mode during any Open (unguided) swim mode to add in a kick or drill set that the Apple Watch would normally not be able to track. To use Drill Mode, you need to Enter Drill Mode, perform the kick or drill set, then Exit Drill Mode. To Enter Drill Mode: Be sure water lock is off by spinning the digital crown Swipe right to show the menu Tap on Drill Mode To Exit Drill Mode: Be sure water lock is off by spinning the digital crown Swipe right to show the menu Tap on End Drill Mode Enter your total kick/drill distance Tap OK and resume your swim workout

    • Usain bolt apparently only has less then 3,000 calories a day I find it strange as running is meant to burn more yet most runners I can find eat about that including long distance were as most swimmers are over that easily.

      @brianlong2334@brianlong23344 жыл бұрын
    • @@brianlong2334 Running does not burn more calories than swimming simply because we are not made for water ot swimming we are made for land so water is a bit more effort. It includes more muscle than running (not saying that running is easy its just different) And even in swimmin sprinters and longer distance or fly swimmers have different practice. Bolt is a sprinter. Sprinters are known for training much less in a higber intensity but that burns less calories. Phelps had 3 practices a day and could swim fly for days (you can see that fly burns almost 900 calories) and a hard gym. While Bruno Fratus 50 free swims around 8 times a week and 3 times goes to the gym he will burn less calories.
