Such a great video!!! I have been swimming for 58 years! That's right 58 years. Now I have to modify my strokes, but everything that was shared was excellent. I always try to swim silently. Just gliding in the water. Swimming is the very BEST exercise and can be done your entire life!!! Thank you so much!!!
That's awesome! Keep it up and happy swimming!

My swimming instructors used to say "pretend that you have an apple or an orange under your chin". That really helped keeping my head in place😂😅
Awesome! I'll try that. Thank you
My coach put a tennis ball under my chin 🙂
Awesome will definitely try this too

Chances are low that you will read this, but I wanted to say thank you. I'm a pretty novice swimmer (have been able to swim my whole life, but working on technique for the last year) but have been trying to increase my distance to a mile nonstop. My lower back was starting to ache so I looked it up on youtube and realized it was most likely my head position and core. Those videos led me to this video. I did what you said, totally ignored my kick for the time being, only focusing on straightening my catch, let my hips drive rotation and exaggerate my downward head position. I felt like a toddler in the pool, since I was focusing on these improvements and had made my previous mistaken form pretty smooth BUT! I instantly dropped almost 10 seconds off my 100 yd intervals!! I went from 2:15 to 2:00!! This is huge as I'm not trying to get faster, but trying to work hard on endurance. It's obvious that you have increased my efficiency a ton since I feel less smooth in the water but I'm actually faster. Also, my swolf was plateaued at 47 for months no matter what I tried. It instantly dropped to 44. I know these numbers aren't great swimmer-wise, but they are amazing for me! I know that the smooth, efficient feel of my stroke will come as I keep focusing on the basics. Thank you!!
That's awesome to hear, Tricia! Keep up the great work :) If you haven't tried swimming with the MySwimPro app, we would love to keep your improvement ongoing with personalized goals and Training Plans. Check it out at myswimpro.com/coach (and use the code SOCIAL20 for 20% off!)

I'm not comfortable with freestyle and am trying to improve, thank you! These types of videos are very helpful!
My favorite stroke is freestyle! I found swimming after being a runner for years and had arthroscopic hip surgery for a torn labrum. Swimming helped me so much during recovery and I fell in love with the my time in the pool!
I’m a 16yr competitive swimmer, and thank you for this video, my weakest part in freestyle is always off the walls and breath the first stroke.
Keep working on it! Happy Swimming!

I recently moved to the desert and am able to swim every day. I love it so much and was hoping to learn more about how to swim more efficiently and faster (I'm up to half a mile) This is a wonderful video and I'm sure I'll be able to correct my inefficient strokes as well as my head position now. I read a book years ago and my stroke is based on that, which is completely the opposite of what you describe, plus I'm sure I'm taking my head to far out of the water when I'm breathing. Thank you!
"Don't drink the water, that's not what I'm telling you" lol
What a brilliant teacher. I just came back from the pool, and this video made me want to go back now.
So so helpful, and I especially love your segment on silent swimming. Thank you!
Im so excited for my swimming class tomorrow. Im gonna try to apply everything that ive learned from this video to my class tmrw
Amazing! Let us know how it goes!
Awesome! Good luck! Have fun!!
Same. The Kids always make fun of me. I really want to improve
I was thinking the same. Tomorrow let’s put all into practice!!!
This was a really great tutorial! I want to get back to swimming laps but the breathing part/ rhythm has been confounding me! This was SO helpful. It’s not just one element. It’s being conscious of all of it and not fighting the water.
Glad it was helpful! Let us know if you have any questions! It's great that you are getting back into swimming!

I found this video to be incredibly helpful. I applied some of the information you provided and noticed genuine improvement in my speed and overall technique. Thank you very much.
Watched one of your videos the day before my biathlon and it saved me 2 minutes + I finished as one of the earlier people! Thank you so much you definitely deserve my subscription!
Best full breakdown I've heard
When you reach, the trunk rotation will passively (keep the contralateral arm quiet) put the contra elbow in an elevated position, and the forearm will drop perpendicularly, setting up the EVF. Then pull/adduct (to the trunk) the elbow until the forearm is perpendicular to the trunk (using the whole arm surface to pull) before completing the stroke. see 4.05 to 4.08

The best swimming video I’ve ever watched! Thank you! I picked up on so many errors I was making!

Gonna apply these tips, really effective, love freestyle stroke, the last point actually I'm using naturally, great tutorial
always SO inspired after watching your videos. My Swim Pro is really the best and most complete online coach in the world. Especially love the silent swimming part.
Great to hear Alexandra! Happy swimming :)
Thank you man ! I am swimming since 5 years till date and I’ve been doing it all wrong , I didn’t had a coach I use to swim all by myself ! Thank you for sharing the knowledge
Happy to help!
The sixth tip is very encouraging. It is probably supposed to help people get "in the zone" more comfortably, which assists in swimming better and learning the process more efficiently.
This video was great I hadn’t swam competitively in a few years and have been trying to train for a half iron man and this really helped speed up my swimming without over exerting myself
That's great to hear! Keep it up and happy swimming!
I am coming from running. Swimming is soo different but I'm excited after my first week of getting in the pool! I learn something new every time I go in. Teaching myself by watching the other swimmers and these amazing videos. The hardest for me was getting into a breathing rhythm since for running I was taught to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth- here's it's the complete opposite! The endorphins I missed so much from running are coming back. Anyone else?
No, just you
I only learnt to swim as an adult 20 yrs ago and I'm not confident being in the water. Getting back into it to get fitter as I'm very overweight but can't afford coaching. This is helping me so much. I practise at home and run it though my head so when I get to the pool I have a head start. It's really increased my comfort level in the water.
Great video! Thank you from a beginner recreational swimmer. Everything about this video is completely accessible, understandable, useful, and inspiring.
Coming off a 20 year break for swimming and am so glad I found this channel. Love it and am so excited to be swimming again.

I haven't been swimming for over 10 years now so I'm watching all these how to swim videos before I get back into it. I just hope I haven't forgotten how to stay afloat tbh 😂😂. Freestyle was my favourite swim stroke.

I put my phone in a waterproof case and hit the pool with this vid loaded up. After one session I already see improvement. I recorded my strokes and that really helped me connect the advice from the vid. HUGE thank you as I’m preparing for special ops tryouts and will need to be a strong swimmer. Thanks again and keep up the awesome content I’ll be back for kore
The idea to "feel" and to be aware of what's going on around you was really great. Strong presentation, can't wait to try some things.
Thank you for this excellent tutorial!
I love this! So many easy to remember points. Love the energy and enthusiasm. Thank you for the share.

YES!!! Let's get it! Happy Swimming :)
Very good explanation. This is the first video to admit breathing is the hardest part. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
He's an amazing coach. So glad I found his channel!!!
I am a free style beginner. Every day in the pool I drill for body position, rotation, catch, and breathing. I pay attention to my muscle tenseness, listen for noise, and manage fear. There is so much to get into subconscious and to make everything work together. Only recently I become patient with practice drills. Even though I can manage to swim free style without aides, I’d better spend time and energy doing drills until all your points become a part of me.
I've been swimming for many years but have recently decided to improve my form and speed. Fares Ksebati gives information in a clear, concise and very helpful way. He seems to be the coach I've been looking for!
So glad to hear that, Sara! Happy swimming :)
Soooo helpful thank you! It really is tricky to get all of these elements right in unison!
