I own a pleco and can confirm that they can survive out of water for several hours. A few years ago I noticed his 10 year old tank was starting to warp. Told my parents that I needed to get a new tank asap. But they didn’t listen. I did reduce water level and took off the filter, water heater, and anything electrical to try and delay any incident or at least reduce any damage. Sure enough, I came home late one evening from uni (first one home), and found the tank destroyed. The front pane had given out and made a mess sometime after 7am (I got home at 8). I immediately searched for my baby, worried. Especially since we owned two cats as well. I only had to worry about him as he was the only tank’s resident (pleco’s are seriously territorial). I found him under the couch, stiff as a board, and rushed him to the kitchen sink. I knew that all he needed was water and, so long as he wasn’t too badly injured, he’d revive. Sure enough he did, and I kept him safe in a bucket and treated with medicine (in case he had any scrapes), until the mess could be cleaned up and a new tank installed (and hyper cycled). He’s now 15 years old and still the throbbing pain in my ass who likes to fall asleep upside down and make me double check he’s not dead, or get tangled in the plants during his zoomies, or will randomly suck up the side of the tank noisily when I’m trying to focus. But he’s living his best pleco life. Also, parents now trust me when it comes to the tank, ESPECIALLY if I say we need a new one.

That is really neat! I had no idea that fish even existed let alone you could keep them as pets. I’m glad the buddy survived and has had a good pleco life!

My family and I have been to La Jolla several years ago while on vacation, there were indeed a ton of sea lions. We tried to go there again in early July last year, but it was so crowded we couldn't find a parking spot lol

Those figures are an art installation in Crosby Liverpool. It's 20 minutes from my house. Visiter from outside Liverpool often mistake them for someone in trouble, especially at dusk.

A WW2 pilot was returning to his carrier but had received a lot of damage including to his radio. He prayed for help then the last of his instruments went dark. Once his eyes adjusted he saw a glow in the water that he followed back to his carrier.

I have an unbelievable moment that I wish I caught on camera. Back in 2021 I was snorkeling off a beach on the Hawaiian island of Kauai with my cousin. We’d stopped for a rest behind a breakwater, just sitting on the sand chatting. A few fishers were up on the rocky breakwater walking away from the beach. One of them called out “Turtle!” and pointed to an area of the water behind me. When I turned around, I realized I’d put my hand right next to a resting Sea Turtle! We presume it was waiting for nightfall, as later we were eating dinner just off the beach and watched several Sea Turtles haul up for the night.

11:30 the sunfish reminds me to a similar beach moment, that i had with my family: While we had a relaxed vacation day at the beach, some joung guys landed their boet at the beach and had a sunfish inside, that they decided to show to the beach-people. But i think is was a young one, it was less than 1m in size.

I saw a baby Goliath grouper in our lagoon!! I was in our paddle boat with my friend and saw a coconut that was actually a Goliath grouper. Also, this in Belize in front of my house!!!
