Today at Goodwood Festival of Speed 2015 a new Guinness world record for the fastest time over 1 mile on 2 wheels was set at 2 mins 10 secs. Smashing the previous record time at 2mins 45 secs. Completed in a Nissan Juke RS Nismo.

    • There's these things I don't know the name in english, they use it in drag races, so the car doesn't do a wheelie, he most likely used one of those, but bigger and on the side of the car.

    • Ele-K-trick The NASCAR driver did manage to get his speed down a lot before he hit the bales which was a pretty good recovery. As I was standing on the other side of those bales yesterday, I was quite happy about that lol, though the bales would stop pretty much anything. Except maybe that huge Dakar truck..

  • What sort of differential does that thing have? It it were an open diff the wheels on the ground wouldn't get any power, but a limited slip diff would definitely deliver the wheels on the air some spin (hence the "limited" part). Does anyone have a coherent expllanation for that?

    • probably something custom, my guess is either some kind of brake locking the wheel in the air, or just not even sending power to it in the first place

    • Front wheel drive nismos and nismo rs's have limited slip different and torque vectoring (which isn't noticeable the way purs I'd driven with the tc off)

  • dont know too much about autos but can someone explain how none of the wheels on the other side of the car are spinning? wouldn't the front or back(or both) sets have to be spinning since they share an axle?

    • They don't move because the open differential only sends power to the wheels on the ground. If the differential was locked they would be spinning. But open differentials insure the car can turn without losing traction, as the wheels are going at very different speeds during a turn.
