Point is nobody has talked like this since Lawrence, pretending it's every year is an admission you don't watch football, it's just patently false to pretend the NFL acts this way usually. Blatant admission to not watching football.

If he keeps his head on straight, ears open, etc - he will become a premier QB in the NFL. • I think that with Caleb a lot of it is that he's been so hyped for so long. He's been the consensus number one overall sense before last year had even finished. Its been 2 years of everybody already knowing he was going number 1 overall, and i mean everybody, even casual fans who dont fallow draft stuff. So 1. a lot of people are wondering if he's worth that much hype to stay in that spot unquestioned even after having a down year. And 2. a lot of people are just tired or hearing or talking about him. Wemby was extremely hyped and a lot of more intense fans already knew he was coming and the splash he would make, but he wasn't even consensus number 1 overall until really that same year he was drafted and a lot of people had not heard about him at all until late into that same year or even after last years playoffs ended.

Even if Fields becomes a top tier dude he’s about to be paid and let’s be clear he’s NOT been that dude. I really hope he succeeds in Pittsburgh, but there was just never a doubt what the bears should do. Caleb is a better prospect, younger, and much farther away from his first contract lmao. And if the bears are sweating about paying Caleb in a few years then at least he’ll presumably be good enough to warrant a big contract. 👍

We will pay for talent one way or another. It will also take a while for Caleb to get acclimated to the NFL, unless we are extremely lucky and us Bears fans are not. Brou is picking exceptions and saying that since they happened, it is likely that you get a good qb outside the first round. It might be the case that most qbs outside the first round don't pan out, but a handful of exceptions exist. Also, it might be the case that amongst all time greats, some qbs outside the first round exist, while still the majority being highly drafted...
