It's lip sync. The biggest clue is that they fade the music out and bring the applause in to drown out the music fade - in a live performance, music doesn't fade out, it has an ending. But very obvious also is the fact that they are lip syncing over Prince's vocals. He has a very distinctive voice/sound.

There's just no music like there used to be. Back in the day you had real bands with real players playing real instruments with lead singers who could actually sing with accompanying members who could sing as well. Now you just have a whatever face that fits the moment and the whole music track laid out on a computer with solo singers that don't even have to be able to carry a tune. The 70's and especially the 80's was just an explosion of talent and good music in every genre you could imagine. The world is sorely missing good music like this. Btw, I know that almost all made for tv performances are lip sync'd with recorded music.
@zaappp1588 Жыл бұрын
I think we have to be really careful about having selective memories. If we're honest, there was a huge amount of junk around musically in the 80s too. I'm sure we can all think of a lot of very cynical, commercial pop that the 80s became absolutely notorious for. I do agree though that music has suffered a lot, largely because of social media. The sub cultures and scenes that produced different music and new trends have largely gone. These days, everything is on social media within 30 seconds and it's instantly ubiquitous. Young people are listening to the same stuff in America, Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa and a lot of the individuality has gone. The legendary music scenes like CBGB in New York in the 70s, The Blitz Club in London in the early 80s and later things like the Chicago House scene. They just really exist anymore. Music from the 1950s, 60s, 70s and 80s was all very distinct. You could pretty much instantly tell which decade it came from because music was constantly evolving. Pop music these days doesn't really feel like it's evolved since the late 90s / early noughties.

Halfway through the set I said to a friend that this was the best backing band I’d ever seen, and that “I hope she pays them well.” Many years later I met a member of the band (the saxophone player seen here), and told him what I had said. He smiled and said “She did.” 😂 (Btw, after that phenomenal set some guy named Prince came onstage during the encore, and blew everyone away.)

Divine and exquisite extremely talented woman!
Indeed so Michelle! Cheers from Sweden - and take good care!
Cancionzota, con una coreografía digna de los 80 y la belleza de Sheela E a flor de piel
Tout à fait d'accord
There's just no music like there used to be. Back in the day you had real bands with real players playing real instruments with lead singers who could actually sing with accompanying members who could sing as well. Now you just have a whatever face that fits the moment and the whole music track laid out on a computer with solo singers that don't even have to be able to carry a tune. The 70's and especially the 80's was just an explosion of talent and good music in every genre you could imagine. The world is sorely missing good music like this. Btw, I know that almost all made for tv performances are lip sync'd with recorded music.
Nothing but foul language and noise now! Yuck!🤢
Awsome music
What a fantastic lip sync performance. They didn't just go through the motions, they showed up with killer costumes and dance moves. And some really sexy audience interaction from Sheila. I guarantee those guys she touched never forgot it!
You're right about that. She was smoking hot and as sexy as they come.
Yep. singing to the camera w/o being cheesy. And she didn't need to show skin for sexy.
That guy she touched was vocalist Al Jarresu noted
Everyone dressed up like prince...
Always loved the alto sax playing on this song. And uhm Sheila E
She's so beautiful ❤
Solid Gold was a Deathwish to any career and creditability.

80s limo obsession ❤
Play this at a backyard party and everyone would go crazy in the 8-0!
totally overdressed. totally under-danced. Perfection. 10000x cooler or hotter than anything in video since 2000.
Saw them in NYC.
What a flashback rush!
What a wonderful performance 🎉❤
She had the same musical style like Prince, everyone saw that!
