The way it looks I would say that it may have detached before being stepped on. But a small part could have been there.

There was nothing inside other than rust. I think.. The end of the screw was already weathered so I am guessing lol. Poor cow stepped next to or on a rotting fence post probably. The weight of the creature made the wood crumble and the remains of the screw went into the hoof. Seen this happen a few times and this was the explanation of the farmer. Right before he sent me outside with a large magnet.. Seen some kids do this to

But your case is worse comparatively because your foot has nerve endings. Hooves are made out of keratin like nails and hair. I'm sure it troubled the animal, but a nail puncturing through nerves would hurt more.

@@cherryxd6849Cows are heavy and step with force. Their hooves are made from the same material as fingernails. Enough force and anything will puncture it. The screw also probably had a sharp tip when it was stepped on which broke down inside the hoof.

@@Sergeantflips Pro tip from a mechanic, if you every have a screw that just spins, a little upward pressure under the screwhead with a knife or flathead screwdriver while turning the screw will indeed back it out. Just kind pry a bit/applying upward pressure while turning it and it will come out.

There was nothing inside other than rust. I think.. The end of the screw was already weathered so I am guessing lol. Poor cow stepped next to or on a rotting fence post probably. The weight of the creature made the wood crumble and the remains of the screw went into the hoof. Seen this happen a few times and this was the explanation of the farmer. Right before he sent me outside with a large magnet.. Seen some kids do this to

As someone who has had a screw in my heel, I sympathize with this animal.
But your case is worse comparatively because your foot has nerve endings. Hooves are made out of keratin like nails and hair. I'm sure it troubled the animal, but a nail puncturing through nerves would hurt more.

The most she probably would have felt is pressure it’s like your finger nails you can cut it and feel nothing if it got to the core then she would’ve been in pain

@@cherryxd6849Cows are heavy and step with force. Their hooves are made from the same material as fingernails. Enough force and anything will puncture it. The screw also probably had a sharp tip when it was stepped on which broke down inside the hoof.

@@Sergeantflips Pro tip from a mechanic, if you every have a screw that just spins, a little upward pressure under the screwhead with a knife or flathead screwdriver while turning the screw will indeed back it out. Just kind pry a bit/applying upward pressure while turning it and it will come out.
