See the town of Bingham, Utah before it was abandoned and lost to the mine's expansion. The scenes, including the mine's railroad and the mining and smelting activities were all filmed by the late railroad historian, Bernice Jackson in a number of filming trips. Bernice was an expert with a movie film camera, and she could tell her "story" very well for us to see the history that she witnessed. This presentation was edited and narrated by Charles Smiley.

  • Great footage with good narration. (I found the music a bit intrusive though, perhaps less volume would help?)

  • The Utah Department of Transportation removed one of the last overpasses of the main Magna line over State route U-111 about a year ago. This has sealed the fate of every inch of KCC rail south of the former D&RGW Garfield interchange. Bits and pieces still survive but they will certainly be gone in the coming years as development marches on. The Copperton yard tower is on borrowed time, if it hasn't been demolished already. Within the last 10 or so years, the former lower level railroad tunnel that had been converted into a conveyor belt tunnel had been abandoned and the conveyor now is completely above ground from the in-pit crusher to the Copperton Concentrator. I live about 10 miles NW of the mine and try to keep tabs on whats going on with former KCC rail assets.
