the difference in the mic quality of the 2020 version vs the 2023 version us huuuuuuge. It caught me off guard wtf.
I was shocked too, then i went to randomfrankps review of the 2020 or somewhere abouts blk shark v2 nd v2x review nd something is fishy here!!
@@carterhorwitz2955 what do you mean?
will it be possible to buy the 2023 mic and use it on the 2020? I have 2020, and the mic is trash
@Carter Horwitz The V2X and V2 that I reviewed are not the same as the V2 Pro. Don't know what you're trying to imply, but you're wrong here.
wtf
The mic upgrade is so impressive. I wish more companies would refresh their products like this.
Coughing* steelseries
yeah forreal. Wish astro did this with their a50s. The last gen a50s were released in 2019 and feel super outdated with micro usb, shit mic, shit software, and annoying base station

I literally said "wtf!" when u turned to the 2023s mic from 2020s. Damn the difference
Exactly the same response from me too!!!!!
I said "holy shit!" myself.
Impressive difference in microphone. Although Razer could've named it Blackshark V3 Pro to make sure there is no mistake when people are trying to buy them.
yeah I agree. I was looking at one from Data Blitz and I can't figure out if it's the 2023 version
@@cheems0508 look at the charging port. if its usb c, its 2023 version. if its the micros usb its old
@@mathiaskornschober5586 sure you could look at that. But it''s hard to figure that out upon looking at the box at first glance. Apparently the 2023 version has the bluetooth on the box. I was also able to find out using the model number.
You're right, I almost order the wrong one the other day, realized because the other one had Micro USB. At least naming it V2.1 or something different would have been perfect.
@@mathiaskornschober5586oh dear.. I got the micro USB one.
The mic upgrade is insane! I switched from blackshark to a Logitech because of the horrible mic and glitches with discord but this made me want to try out the 2023 version.
So far in my life, this is the most detailed and informative but at the same time never tedious. I freaking love your channel and I regret why I haven't found your channel sooner. Thank you for this very great video!
Yea frank you got it, the glasses test is such an underrated test shoutout to you. Only problem I have with the video is not putting the price immediately or close to
Wow the mic difference man! And I like that you can save your EQ onboard. I dislike companion softwares
Holy shit!!! What a quality improvement from 2020 model. Kudos to you reviewing and sharing your experience with us Frank 😇 Keep creating man!
but why didn't they change the name of the newer model? It could potentially confuse some consumer
Most likely since it's the same design. Original Blackshark in 2012 looked different, then we had the V2 Pro in 2020 which was a redesign.
@@resvoire5650 im that customer 😵💫 sales rep at the store thought it was the 2023 model as well and they won't let me return the 2020 casue it touched skin...

I hope they'll update the regular V2 and V2X quietly as well. I'm still a wired headset guy but I'd like a improved mic too and I wouldn't mind if they made the cable removable whilst they were at it.
I might have to give these a go now. I had the 2020’s and returned because of the mic and also a slight hiss/hum consistent sound in one of the earcups when the volume knob was at 80% and higher. Hope that last thing was just that particular set.
I picked up a set of these and they are ridiculously good.. I've been working out, doing projects, and walking around the entire house and they don't disconnect. Frank, I greatly appreciate your knowledge and advice. Many thanks and much love brother!
im sold i just purchased these im tired of my friends complaining about mic quality and background noise thank you really good product review im subscribing
Are there buttons on the headset where you can raise and lower the chat volume and game volume individually?
Great video, great headset. When will you do a review on the steelseries arctis 1 wired headset?
As someone who owns the Nova Pro Wireless I’m considering going back to the BlackShark V2’s. That microphone is night and day compared to what my Novas sound wow impressed
I got the 2020 version and the bass sounds amazing and full. I think having a Quad Dac build in my smartphone helps.
The eq button bit where you press it and you simulate the UI in the video, i loved it. Insta like! Thanks :)
This is just a drastic refresh specially with the MIC. Love it!
Thank you Frank! You sold me. Upgrading from Arctis Nova 7
Amazing, amazing 🤩!!!! Is there a version of this headset but a wired variation?
Great review. I bought my set in 2021 and I was DUMBFOUNDED by how AWESOME this headset was, with a high quality charging cable… only to be EXTREMELY LET DOWN by the fact that it was microUSB with no Bluetooth. It was insane! Sure, some people don’t want to use Bluetooth, I get that. But holy cow man. MicroUSB in 2021?? I’m so glad they updated these because the quality of the headset is really high up.
The mic upgrade is very impressive!
I love how razer and hyper x are making headsets that last 70 and 100 hrs, amazing. But razer takes the cake with added Bluetooth, mic quality, wire frame and comfort of ear cups. Also the volume knob is better than others that have the sliding wheel on the back as those can be a problem when lying down and your pillow can adjust your volume to 100 and scare the crap out of you
Can anyone help me with this question? Can we ear our own voice in game chat !!! 🤔
ive been waiting for a wireless mic to sound this good at this price point. Great review Frank James 🦾
Is it better than the artics nova 7 or the artics nova pro(when it comes to sound and just generelly)? Love your vids btw
wow absolutely amazing, I love being able to switch modes without software and the mic is subvstantially improved props to razer
Appreciate this review 100 percent. Thought it was only Bluetooth at first which had a lag (maybe because I didn’t update) now I’m updating and put the dongle in. The mic is incredible!
The best I ever had and that is even under $ 80 is Karmafier Immersum Headset. It has really really good audio. Amazing bass (I'm a bass head) and really clear highs. And I really appreciate the lack of muddy mids. I owned more expensive ones before that were not as good.
What about the mic?

Saw that you could save your sound EQ and swap between them without synapse. Are you able to save the mic EQ and noise cancellation to the headset? Or do you have to have synapse running to get that noise cancellation to work
thank you for a great video as always i would upgrade if u can connect it with Bluetooth to your phone while gaming on pc like i use to on my artic pros
I got the v2s back in 2020, charging stopped working towards the end of last year but luckily the warranty covered it and i wish i was given the refresh instead of a new old version 😭
Im soldd!!! Buying on black friday!! Great mic test review!
Are u able to switch the mic attachment to get that mic boost? Or is there improvements in the headphones as well?
For all of the older model users I suggest that you buy discounted siren mini mic and that's it. Otherwise great headphones, I love them and use them 12hrs a day while working. 2020 model.
thanks for this, great video im trying to find a new headset rn as my hyper x cloud alpha i lost a screw on, and its like falling apart with pieces literally falling out of it and im very likely getting the blackshark v2 pro. Ofc new model
I've found that with most wireless gaming headsets, the microphone usually isn't great but this is the exception. I wonder why they didn't name these the V3 instead?
Most likely since it's the same design. Original Blackshark in 2012 looked different, then we had the V2 Pro in 2020 which was a redesign.
@@randomfrankp still, would be nice to differentiate in the product name somehow. does the box have something labeled? like V2 Pro 2023 or something

I think the feature that let you listen to your own voice in headset may help the streamer who try to hear how they sounds inside the headset or speaker actually pretty neat feature 😮
I just bought the razer blackshark v2 wired headset.... not even a year ago... i just saw an add for this headset 5m ago and looked up a review. i saw your video and had to watch. and i cant believe i feel like i need to upgrade now... but 200 is alot more than the 60 i spent on these lol
im looking at buying these and was just wondering, are these heasdsets good for listening to music also?
So happy you compared these to the Arctis too since they were on my comparison list. Looks like I'm getting these!
with bluetooth added now, i hope it can seamlessly switch between 2 audio sources (PC and PS5 for example) or PS5 and your phone
I bought these headphones. I use them with my PS5 then PC almost each day. I simply swap the dongle from PS5 to PC and that is it (no messing with settings). EQ setting can be quickly switched with the button on the Right Earphone. Only complaint (minor): because the wire adjuster is not notched, the top center does tend to shift to one side or the other with use, but you don't notice this unless you feel if they are shifted with your hands.
I just got the v2 pro after using the logitech g pro x wireless for years and the mic quality is literally night and day. HIGHLY RECOMMEND, and very comfortable for glasses users as well.
Thanks for the review definitely buying it
As soon as I heard that mic I instantly went and ordered a pair! I had been thinking of getting a wireless headphone to replace my last wired peripheral. Now the only wire I’ll have left is for the Valve Index. Which Nofio will fix soon too.
Do you still use them? I want to get them but I’m scared.
Was gonna get the steel series. dont really care about the microphone. but its very clear to me what razer has set there priorities for gaming
will try this one! razer is a really good product.. but i just hope the dongle on this one is good enough in using it.. i had a razer nari ultimate but the dongle of it got busted after a year or 2years .. anyway nice review.. the mic upgrade was insane!
Which will you pick among this headset (Razer Blackshark V2 Pro Headset) vs Razer Barracuda X Wireless Gaming Headset and why if they have almost same cost ?
Didn't know they were releasing this new variant, was close to buying the old variant lol. Thank you for the review!
Thanks bro, i was almost buying the arctis. sfter this comparison about the microfone i'd preffered the Shark V2 pro
Make sure to check for product ID. The old one is: RZ04-03220100-R3M1 The new one is: RZ04-04530100-R3U1
Pick these up today and they are amazing!
Maxwell and NEW Beach Pro. Curious what you think of either. They're on the heavy side but their Audio quality is likely much better than these
So i want to add if you have the nova pros you can use the steelseries engine eq with any headset i have my old black sharks and wanted to try it and holy crap using the eq slider there made the headset even more amazing i would like to see someone test this and see if using steel series software with other headsets can really improve there audio quality
Which mic sounds better? Corsair hs80/90 or blacksark v2(2023)?
Holy crap that is a nice mic, i might actually get these. One question, does this connect with all platforms, like playstation AND xbox?
Should I get this or the Steel Series Arctis Nova Pro for gaming and also listening to music on my phone ?
Very informative video, thank you for what you do.
Going with an all Razer setup might not be that bad now. The best Mice on the market, great keyboards and the mic sounds excellent on this headset.
so for users with the 2020 BSV2Pro, the improvements are mic, more than double battery life (don't think you mentioned that going from 24 to 70 hours), and USB-C. i personally use an external mic so mics were never an issue for me for headsets. so mainly i'd benefit from the better battery life only. probably pass on this upgrade but good for people without the 2020 one.
I have a wired razer headset that has haptic feedback. I never really had a razer product before but they impressed me more than i had initially thought. The audio drivers sound the same between the v2 refresh and the kraken version I use, and the are passable. If your sole intent is music, there are better headsets out there but they were just as good as hyperx or older logitechs that i used, not dissapointing at all. I had mainly got them just to try out the haptic feedback, which i used to enjoy a ton...think im used to them now :/ maybe i have to switch off them for a while. Regardless, from low expections razer headset has become my most used headset now because they are fun. I had a hyper x cloud flight s wireless headset i had been using for years but its age is starting to show. Initially i went with wireless as i was using a laptop back then and a cord was a pain, since upgrading to a pc the wired work just fine, but i always had to switch to the hyper x headset if i wanted to cook food while still talking to my friend or listeng to a video i was watching on the pc. The mic quality hardly matter to me as 90% of the time i use a dedicated yeti microphone. Ive been thinking about the sony H9 or the steel series nova pros. I always have heard good thing from steel series from all of my friends but have never tried them, though the keyboard i am using from them is great. I have alot of sony audio devices as they have always been more my style with the music i listen to without hitting all of the top end brand battles, so the sony is pretty tempting but the features and the fact you need the software open all the time is less appealing. I have not gone with steel series before so little worried that for music they would fall short. If i do get a wireless headset it would be nice foe them to become my main headset so i can pop a mic in or out. Right bow my wirless one is in a much more critical spot.
You should've done a comparison of this and the Corsair HS80. Those two mics for wireless are insane
It's actually really sad he forgot to compare this new mic with the current king of wireless mics, the HS80
@@azenyr what about the virtuoso and the mx100/150
For anyone considering buying this, about 6 months of light use and the left hinge snapped off, quick search on google had many people putting this on Reddit so it’s a known defect, claimed warranty on mine after fighting customer support for about two weeks and got another pair, will see how it goes, it’s been about a month since then and it seems to be fine for now. Other than that though, just as the video says, mic on point, comfortable and easy to use. Build quality meh.
How are they holding up? I had a pair and the left hinge broke off aswell and idk if i should get a new pair or not
Just bought mine a few months ago. Now I have to "upgrade" it to the new, that mic leap is epic... :)
okay the mic got me man....gonna wanna cop this in the future
Yup, I’m grabbing these. This will be the first razed product for me in awhile. I’ve been waiting too long for a wireless headset with good mic audio. This really checks all the boxes for me
The Corsair HS80 has an awesome mic as well, might be able to get one cheaper than the razer
@@dumraden HS80 has terrible battery life.
i tried a few wireless headsets the last few years and i settled on these. the feel/comfort and audio quality were all great for me. not to mention price compared to other "better" wireless headsets.
if u want best mic buy corsair hs80
@@HasimFN I used to own a HS80, the mic is comparable to these but the battery life is just really really trash. Also the sound quality is meh, even with a custom EQ they sounded boring.
Can you get the microphone as a standalone upgrade for those that have the 2020 model? The main reason you want the wireless SteelSeries Pro products is RANGE. You can go upstairs/downstairs and still have audio. If you have a small apartment you could likely go anywhere in your apartment and never drop connection.
Gadgetry Tech tested the new boom mic on the older model, and the quality was as bad as the original. So he concluded that the quality change comes from the audio processing chip on the newer model, and not the physical mic capsule itself.
Insane difference on that mic, being able to hear your own voice in the mic is something I've wanted for so long. I really now understand why deaf people sound a certain way. I've used noise canceling gaming mics and I can't hear my own voice and it's extremely difficult to talk something you don't think about everyday.
Nice review! gonna wait for the V3 PRO...
Holy shit that mic upgrade. I almost regret getting the Steel series Arctis 7+. Only reason I like that one is for the chatmix dial
Because they also have bluetooth, you can use it with your phone to listen to music, HUGE UPGRADE. plus 70 hour batter, WOW MAN, THANK GOD FOR THESE!
what do you recommend this headset or g pro wireless x 2?
Now, only if they have simultaneous listening to bluetooth and 2.4ghz as some have previously mentioned.
I literally said wow when you switched from 2020 mic to 2023 mic. What a difference holy crap.
Would you still recommend this headset? Was close to pulling trigger but some of the recent bad reviews on Amazon makes me hesitant.
The previous blackshark v2 pro had no sidetone. It had the feature but it was very bad. How does the sidetone fare on the new version? Many online reviewers mentioned the sidetone for the previous model but did not bother to check the quality of it. It was a huge issue with the last model.
Any chance of a review of the basilisk v3 pro? I currently have the g pro x super light but the side buttons have started acting up after 2 years. I use my mouse for work now too so was thinking the ergonomics of the basilisk v3 pro would be useful for that. I mainly play fps games like tarkov and valorant and seen mixed reviews of people saying it’s too heavy for fps and others saying they think it’s the best mouse
Two years ago I bought wired version simply because of superior mic quality, but this updated 2023 version sounds even better than wired that I have. I absolutely love Blackshark quality and how comfortable it is, and I already know which headphones I'm going to buy next.

I’ve been using the Astro A40 TR from back in the day when I had my PS4. I had to get an adapter to use it with my PS5 but the adapter has broke. I really loved them, comfortable, easy to adjust on the fly but the major draw back now is the fact they’re wired. Decided to sell them and get a new pair. Was tempted to get either the Astro A50’s or the Steel Arctis Nove Pro but these seem another possible candidate. The only issue I have had with Razer is the lows, but this was from a few years back. Tempting!! Edit: it’s a shame you can adjust game to voice volume on the fly 😢
Had a set of the steel series arctis pro’s and the entire headband broke off the headpiece given that it was plastic. Shame spending so much money for plastic.
Switched back to my old Astro A40’s which I’ve had for probably 10+ years. Still work amazing and comfortable. Scared to buy new.
