  • I joined the US Army September 27th 2001, shortly after 9-11, I deployed with the 3rd ID in 2003, I fought along side the Brits…. Fast forward August of this last year, I took my family to Disney on Florida, I stood in line with a British veteran and we shot the shit while waiting for some rides, I still see wounds he wore as a badge of honor on his body(he was blown up twice by IED’s) as for me, I was blessed to never get shot or blown up, but my wounds are internal…. I can’t sleep, I have terrible PTSD, but in the moments getting to chat with my new friend, I did find peace knowing my brother across the pond got to come home to his family after going thru so much…. My views on the war have changed over the years, maybe we shouldn’t of stayed for so long, but, I was a 20 year old PFC just doing a job…. No matter what my views of the war are or were, these men will always be my brothers in arms… we didn’t care why we were there, we didn’t cry about being away from our families in the moment, we only found peace thru brotherhood, a brotherhood forged in blood and honor!! Once two great countries fought against one another, and now are the greatest Allie’s the modern world has seen!! I hope you find peace Bryan, I hope the guns and bombs are quite in your head now! I recently found out that he gave into his demons and took his own life shortly after his trip to Disney! It breaks my heart to even ponder the thought of the torture your mind experienced in your home life! You did a job you were called to do, and sometimes you did that job for an ungrateful people! Just know that, tonight, as I sit on my couch with my little dog curled at my feet, I drink to you my brother! May you find that peace in your internal rest! I pray for the small child that was with you that day, that he grows up not thinking about how you passed away, but thinking about how you lived! Til Valhalla my friend!!
