    • The only time I ever heard her speak Spanish was in Modern Family and I'm sure she spoke in Spanish for interviews for Spanish language talk shows. It was really cool that she did that. It's cool hearing non-English speaking actors speaking their native language for a role.

    • There's a little thing called "artistic license". A movie/tv show has to have a beginning, a middle, and an end. Characters get introduced in the beginning, the first conflict appears in the middle and it builds to a climax near the end, then stories get wrapped up at the end. It's a perfect formula for fiction, but real life doesn't always abide by the same formula. Life has a habit of getting in the way, it's random events that just happen to happen to you. One day you could be enjoying a day of celebration and the next moment you could be killed as a passersby in a drive-by shooting. Doesn't make for a very interesting story now does it? And when the biopic's subject goes through something intensely personal, for story purposes it's important to tell the story in the best chronological order and this often requires to move around or fudge some life events simply cuz it won't fit the narrative of the overarching story.

  • One detective described Griselda as a true sociopath, unable to feel compassion or remorse whatsoever. When the little boy was accidently killed in the car, her reaction was quite different in the real life. When she was informed that the father was still alive, she was furious at first because her order had not been executed as planned. When she was told that his boy was dead, she was delighted because she had her revenge. She didn't care about the father‘s loss one bit.

    • @@GABRIELA-ACEVEDO.I'm not sure what show you saw, but the one I watched depicted her as being far from a great (or even good) person. It's true that they made her character somewhat sympathetic, which doesn't necessarily comport with the real-life Griselda, but they often do that in shows and movies to make the audience feel torn. Ultimately, though, the show depicted her as an paranoid, egomaniacal killer, who put power above all else and ended up getting three of her sons killed.

Not so much that she genuinely cared for those people but that they would shower her with adulation when she would deliver those impassioned speeches about having their backs and always looking out for them. I got the impression that she really began to crave being thought of as a woman of the people. But I guess I wouldn't say you're wrong, either. It's very likely the writers humanized her for the sake of the audience.

In the show, they tried to paint Griselda's worst moments as being caused by some external force like the patriarchy, and she was just doing what she had to to survive. Or she was in a cocaine induced psychosis. The real Griselda didn't have these excuses, she was an evil human being. Why did they make Sofia's character anything less than that?? My only complaint about the show.
