The Sims is Destroying its Reputation with Some of Its Biggest Fans
Peeking into Sims 4's history, we're definitely going to see a pattern of blunders that alienated a massive chunk of Sims players and led to this feeling that The Sims is never going to recover. I'm calling these players castaways and count myself as one of them. I've explored the earliest days and many bad launches, with so many things missing despite record demand on our wallets. I go on to explore where we are now, how EA is doing, and if there is even a problem on their end. They appear to be doing just fine.
The following names got cut off in the credits at the end of the video so I'd like to acknowledge them. Also, thanks to CmarNYC for Simripper, without whose excellent program many of my renders would not be so easy to toss together.

With the Sims 4, I literally do the equivalent of opening the fridge, seeing nothing good, closing it, and then opening it again immediately after like it’ll change.
This is the most accurate thing ever said about the sims 4.

I'm STILL salty about the fact that WE CANNOT MAKE OUR OWN FUNCTIONAL APARTMENTS.
fr. i was so excited for city living and i got it and the apartments were so cool but we cant make our own and thats pretty boring. they should make it a lot type like residential, lounge etc...
You can 'kind of' do it with the roommates but not sure if that is in base game or university only.
seriously!! I had to download mods to do so which just means people on console can't do anything about it which is frustrating
I made the most beautiful row of townhouses in Sims 3. I wish they'd just released Sims 3 with better graphics
Well I'm confused I've been doing it for years.

They also promised smarter Sims for this game. That's not the case when I go play a household and find that every Sim is late for work/school, needs are severely depleted and they are just walking around doing seemingly random things instead of taking care of themselves.
Don't forget canceling actions to do push-ups or hating/praising the decor, constantly switching chairs to talk, going to a bathroom and standing there to eat, talking with a stranger across the whole lot with a full social bar, and Sims always gathering in the bathrooms to talk in a group because a celebrity was there. Don't even get me started on the game-breaking bugs
This. I swear to fucking god I can’t stand that. Fr.
I tried to play a single sim while leaving rest of the family to AI. That was fun but in a wrong way. Playing as the only sane person in the world.
I freaking hate when i go into a household and everyones late for work/school!!! Like,,, earn some money, stop relying on my cheatcodes!
exactly they say “smarter sims” but the sims 3 sims are so much smarter. they don’t stand there for an hour when you tell them to do things and they actually feel alive
I'm surprised you didn't mention that in that community poll they ASKED US if we wanted a Star Wars themed pack and we said NO. It literally had the LEAST amount of votes and yet they STILL made it.
Ikr???
exactly, it was absolutely the worst pack released even above my first pet. it’s lacking in every aspect and even before it was created players showed their disinterest. total flop
As well not instead of. Lord you lot get angry and don't even get your facts right.
@@wwaxwork lol you sound so salty. Nowhere in that comment did I say I was mad, did I? There were a lot of other ideas in that poll the community clearly wanted that didn't happen or were executed really poorly. And instead they prioritized a Star Wars pack the community didn't really care about, putting devs to work on that instead of features that would make the game not feel like a hollow shell of it's past lives.
Not just this, it's bugged beyond repair and extremely boring as well. I've just tried playing it as a challenge, got frustrated and ended up not finishing it.
It's kinda sad when cc creators and modders can do a better job than an actual team.
no fr
And EA depends on modders to keep their game playable.
The sad thing is that the team could do these things perfectly well but EA doesn't put enough people with enough time on the project because guess what, the time of skilled artists, game designers and programmers costs money and that's all EA cares about.
lmaoo and THAT'S saying something.
I don’t understand that. If they have a huge budget compared to modders and more time why can’t they put out better content?
I will never forgive them for how hard it is to put a toddler in a high chair. Toddlers are usually what ends my current play cycle, I just get sick of fighting against the game for it to do the basic tasks I need for my sims to survive.
Omg yes! Toddlers was just bugging so bad for me. An adult could be holding a toddler and be on the second floor, and I would direct that adult to drop the toddler in a high chair that was downstairs, and the adult would just put the toddler down on the floor and walk down by itself while the toddler had to crawl/walk down by itself as well... it was so time consuming 🙄
Don't even buy a high chair, just put food on the counter and have the toddler grab it
I'm doing a 100 baby challenge right now and it's so horrible. I put the food on the floor for them to eat but sometimes they just hold the food on their hands for multiple hours straight. The only way to fix this is to make new food for them to eat.
Sounds like real life xD
@@JaneDoe-cz5oe I would cheat the hunger need If I see my sim is "eating" for 1 hour without progress
The state of the Sims 4 is especially sad when the create-a-sim and building options are better than they have ever been. I'm having fun creating all sorts of sims and buildings, while at the same time getting bored quicker than ever actually playing the game.
This!
Preach!
@Lady Libra no, it's just you. The rest of is play Sims because we like Sims, you're just throwing money away on a game you don't play 🤦♀️
@@cutebutevil7387 There are different ways to play games, nothing wrong with that. I mean I play through Jak and Daxter every year (takes 4 hours), and have never felt like I wasted money buying it. And The Sims games are one of those where many people alternate between playing them obsessively and then not playing them at all.
I tried playing with long lifespans/age-up when it felt right so the kids could get all skills etc. 100%, and I ended up making the parents have way too many babies and then adding a mod to let some of the kids die. It felt really dramatic, but I realized that adding that drama was the only thing holding my interest in the family for long enough to complete the goals I had set. Even when I was dedicated to playing thoroughly for goals, I was so bored by the general gameplay that I made extra kids just to kill them off later. When I finally stopped doing that, trying to get more immersed in skills/goals, it fell into a flat, boring grind.
This video made me realize that the only real thing I do when playing The Sims 4 is build houses and create characters with the intention of playing... but I never actually play the game. Just build and decorate.
Have to say that's kind of always how I played The Sims since the original. However, I definitely think I somehow spend even less time actually playing the game with 4 than I did with 1-3.
I make a sim and get them to their life I have deemed suitable for them and then I get bored instantly and have to redo it all. The game has very little in the way of normal life events. Imagine having shops to go and buy outfits because CAS doesn’t have them all unlocked without a mod/cheat. It would be nice to wear clothes of great expense because you earned it or were born into wealth (or cheated). Being able to buy jewellery as a gift for someone would be nice. Having more argument options like “argue about money” would be nice. The game still feels like the backbones even with all the EPs, GPs, SPs and those kits.
Is that not what you’re supposed to do...I thought that was the whole idea of the game😂😂

I continously get frustrated hearing people go on about how things costs money and how it's not reasonable to ask for more details and animations must be recycled because they're expensive and so on... How many copies of all packs haven't they sold??? They should be ROLLING in money!
It really is, I played Snowy Escape a bit yesterday and noticed the fire dance during a festival, which is the fire dance from Island Living, which is a reused animation of the disco dance from Get Together. I mean...

My breaking point in the sims 4 was when I realized my sim was the only person making progress with his life. No other sim advanced their careers, got in relationships or experienced any kind of setbacks. They’ll still wear they same clothes as they get older! Everything was static, nothing was happening outside of my sim’s life.
exactly!!! That’s why it’s so hard for my sim to marry another npc sim that I didn’t create and cheat to make a career for. If they just marry a neighbor, that sim is unemployed and has no money or skills even if they’re an adult. I’m sorry, you have rippling abs and you’re fitness level 1?? Or- as a kid you were an expert at violin and piano and suddenly you start all over as a teenager?? Why?? ugh.
Same! There was actually a point where I went,” where are all the other Sims?” Guess what... THEY DIED. None of them had kids, so I lost all neighbors in every area. I even had that “move people into empty lots” thing on, but they move in too slow, so they die too fast. You cannot adjust that time last time I played. So I manually added people in, but it was getting too messy trying to maintain with all the loading screens. I kept hopping back and fourth, giving everyone an absurd amount of kids to hopefully balance out the lack of neighbors, and they didn’t have family trees if I moved in a kid. I felt like it was more of a job than a game.
@@user-sf9gs2pg1b lmfaoooo I cracked up at "Guess what? THEY DIED." Cause this happened to me, too.

let's also talk about the difference between the amount of content in one pack in the sims 3 and the sims 4. in the sims 3 late night we got apartments, celebrities, the acting career, hot tubs, clubs and vampires. getting it all took the sims 4 3 expansion packs, 1 game pack and 1 stuff pack. yes, there were also other things in those packs, but let's be honest, it's not much.
sims 3 late night was top tier I loved it so much
I agree absolutely, no to mention the elevators, forming bands, etc, Sims 3 has got so much depth than TS4. EA is too greedy
same with Sims 3 Supernatural, that pack you had fairies, werewolves, vampires, wizards and zombies.. now in Sims 4 you need Realm of Magic, Werewolves, and Vampires… it’s so scummy for EA to spread them all out in separate packs
Sims 3 Generations = Parenthood + Kids Room Stuff + Toddler Stuff + That knitting stuff I forgot the name + High School pack Sims 2 Vacations = Outdoor Retreat + Island Living + Snowy Escape
Played the Sims since the 1st game. Loved it for the majority of my life and then Sim 4 came along. I tried to love it for so long but Journey to Batuu was the last straw. Now I’m waiting for Paralives. Sims 5 would have to be insanely incredible for me to go back to EA now.
100% THIS!
Right - also waiting for Paralives

Agreed! I’ve been long term player, but, like everyone else, I’m ready to move on to a different simulation game. Paralives, please be better than Sims.
i have a feeling that paralives will do to the sims what citieas skylines did to simcity and what happened to command and conquer ea will ignore it once the sales drop, they wont make it better, they just ignore it and ruin another franchise
See, I just want my Sims to stop washing dishes in the bathroom.
Or trying for baby when i'm not paying attention. Or destroying relationships i spent quite bit of effort on making. Or being unable to take care of the baby because some non-household sim wants to blunder with it. Or attending a non-household sim's birthday party and the generated caterer doesn't put the birthday cake where birthday candles can be placed. You know what sucks? It’s not a lack of pack ideas. The ideas are endless. We simmers keep getting condensed ideas of ideas and ultimately our wallets are suffering.
Yes, they're markedly trimmed down ideas so you can make other packs with more niche ideas. Like Cats and Dogs and MFP
@@CarlsSimGuides unfortunately a lot of simmers love to deny this and ultimately delude themselves into thinking that the reason ea is cutting down what should have been a single pack into two is so that they could focus on one aspect and give it more "detail" (such as making a pack all about vampires instead of making a supernatural pack like sims 3)
Yeah I don't like how the DLC often focuses on one aspect/new feature. Packs like Vampires, Cats and Dogs and Snowy Escape should've included a lot more. This game, including all its DLC, feels like a large but shallow puddle.
watered down like homeopathic medication.
Good thing I just bought the sims 3 on origin today, good thing they’re doing a sale
My Sims 2 Sims are smarter than my Sims 4 Sims. When I want my Sims to talk, in S2 they will meet directly and talk, in S4 one runs past the other one to where that Sim just stood when I gave them the task, they have to walk back there, then wander and turn around each other a few times before they can talk, if the task wasn't lost in the meantime.
I was excited about University cause it was something to actually work for but the game was so buggy and didn't explain anything so I ended up taking too many courses to handle and the grad timing bugged out so I didn't graduate after the stress of cramming in all those courses. It was so bad. And they made it seem so fun but it wasn't at all. I love the game but it really does have the "hollow shell" vibe that is created by a corporation. My partner is an ex-software engineer and he said his friends avoided working at EA because they were such an evil company that, like many other game companies, push their workers into the ground with extreme deadlines and little care for the end product. As long as it pleases the stock holders that's all that matters.
Sounds like real university LOL
Eidos similar story
I ended up having to cheat to get through the university section, especially because I had the eco lifestyle expansion active, so as soon as my sim got there, the neighborhood voted to cut water usage. There was no dining hall (which, even if expensive, most colleges have a place to eat) and the little shop that sold some food (which closed early!) never sold food that was filling. There wasn't even a shared oven in the dorm, and randos would walk into your room to use your microwave. By the time the semester was over, all the Sims in the dorm were smelly and starving, and the dorm itself was a mess with trash everywhere. College isnt always the best time, but the Sims version was so pointlessly hard for so little reward.
I’m currently doing a “as close to real life as possible” play through and I put my sim through University. Big mistake, it’s nearly impossible to play through a University story line while trying to keep it realistic. So many bugs and just bad gameplay.
so the only way to solve it if we become the stockholders?
I just want the depth, story, and quirkiness of the Sims 2 with the customisation, freedom, and gameplay of the Sims 3. That’s all I want.
I missed the vendors in the sims 2 for pets. You could just have your sim walk in the park and buy a fun treat for your pet and get a fun animation about it with satisfying hearts showing your pet loved it. Now your pet just eats it like it’s just another food. It’s a shell of what it was.
and the cas and build system of ts4 with the colour/pattern customation
I've bought both Sims 3 and 4 and still to this day I keep playing 2, it really feels like they're always going backwards and I have no hope for Sims 5

The sims 2 is honestly the best. I never stopped playing it
TS2 4 Lyfe
Same. TS2 is actually a life simulator as opposed to TS4. It may not have all the bells and whistles but at least it isn't a lazy cash-grab
Yes! Love the graphics of TS4, and it’s my favorite of the series to build in (though building still has some bugs that have been present since launch), but it’s been years since I’ve actually played with the actual sims themselves in TS4, which is the entire primary point of the game. It’s a life simulator for goodness sake. Out of all the features in The Sims, the life simulation should be the feature that runs the smoothest and offers the most, but that’s the complete opposite when it comes to TS4. In my opinion, TS2 will always be the best game in the series, by FAR. The gameplay for TS2 was phenomenal and always kept me engaged in actually playing with life for hours and having a household run relatively smoothly, with the expansion packs you paid for actually giving you well rounded, completed and fully functioning content with very sparse minor hiccups here and there. TS2 was the last truly exceptional sims game, it all went downhill from there, and I don’t have much hope it will ever return to its glory days if the current higher ups at EA are still calling the shots. If they made an exact copy of TS2 with better graphics and TS4 style building, I wouldn’t hesitate to immediately hand them my money.
This could be a hot take, but I think seasons should be a base game feature at this point.

Same though I relearned building in Sims 3 and you can customize furniture and walls way better.

Honestly they could've just remade Sims 3 to not dump pc memory into a black hole and it would've been a much better product.
I would have been ok with that. Update the graphics, skim out bugs, add functionality, while maybe having to eliminate SOME features (not all the best ones EA!)....
Yeah if they could have gotten rid of the online store and started rolling them into packs or better yet base game that would have been great
Yeah. They went real heavy on sims3. I remember all the glitches, bugs, performance issues & sims 3 being almost unplayable at times. I watched an interview w. Lindsey & she said they threw any & everything at the sims 3 & it affected the game & systems negatively. So while it’s understandable they scaled back for sims4, they did wayyyyyy to much scaling back that the sims4 lost that depth we loved in sims3
The poor Sims 3. It was so freaking good but the performance problems are legendary. I still play it over 4 though. Hilariously, TS3 runs better on Linux with WINE than modern windows. It's not much better but at least I don't get so much chugging. I would do anything for a patched sims 3 to fix the memory leaks.
I still play the sims 3 tbh but I used to play with all the expansion packs forget that, my game runs alright and I have 3 installed
I HATED the doctor career for one reason only. My sim was the only one treating patients and if a patient left then it was automatically my sims' fault.
I hate it because two of my coworkers died and still they came to work as ghosts. And broke everything. Try to guess who had to fix everything while also treating patients. It became totally impossible to work. Disappointed
I would have been fine with it if it had at least been challenging gameplay. But the ONLY thing that wasn't super easy and formulaic about it was the fact that you had to overcompensate for how poorly executed aspects of the design were.

I gave up on the career because I had to deliver a baby but no pregnant Sims would ever come in. This made me realize that there are never pregnant Sims in the Sims 4. Kids just spawn out of nowhere at some point but you never see any pregnant Sims, babies or toddlers
@@MsEmmiii the only reason i always have a few pregnant sims running around is cause i have mods that rework how all the background sims behave, but i don’t think i’ve seen a single on come into the hospital when i’m there
One thing that bugs me about sims4 is the lack of being able to just walk around the town.. with sims 3 you can go to the park and there are townies there or sitting outside the grocery store, it had a sense of community I guess and you could send you sim out jogging and they could do so without a loading screen.. I used to play sims3 for hours and hours now sometimes I log into sims 4 and can't even stay more than a few minutes because I am bored and log out.
As an ex-EA employee, all I can say is they value Sims a lot, just as much as Fifa, but unlike Fifa, which is very closely monitored, Sims is left up to Maxis, because Sims 1-3 were such successes. EA was very unsatisfied. What I'm saying is I think Maxis doesn't really want to make Sims like it used to be, but they wanna keep the IP. But the deadlines were ofc EA's decision. I'm not necessarily defending my ex-company. (Especially since I was disappointed with Sims 4 as well)
What does Maxis want? Why wouldn’t they want to make the game as good as the previous ones?
@sneedwashere I personally don't know, I think they don't want to be a one-game-studio and burn through employees and devs a lot.
@@ComfyMarius What does that mean? What would they want instead? To make FPS? Because they were known for various Sim series (like Sim City) before The Sims.
@@clementkong8133 I srsly have no clue, that's all that trickled through.
There was a guy from Maxis that did a small ama on reddit and said the contrary. Maxis was thriving until will wright left and EA took over. EA apparently asked to cut massive corners so they could spend less on production and cancelled all creative meetings so they could meet newer, closer deadlines. I mean everyone has different POVs in this story, but its hard to deny that Maxis always done good games before EA but EA is known for making cashgrab games that lack substance
It’s a stroll through extremely disappointing memory lane.
Oh my gosh, do you remember Sims 3 World Adventures?! I spent so much time in SimEgypt that I felt guilty that I was neglecting the REST of the game. I worked SO I could go on vacation, and went as often as my Sim could afford to so I could collect all the things, learn the recipes, acquire the skills, and discover the mysteries. And I got a kick out of inviting the "foreign" Sims to come visit me. THAT'S how expansions should be.
Those were some of my favorites! I would go out of my way to include international Sims in my 100 Baby Challenges. xD
The dungeons with all the puzzles, so much fun!!
I loved playing that in high school. I would stay up so late to play
I LOVED it. It was my favorite Sims thing ever. It fulfilled all my childhood desires to be an archaeologist like Indiana Jones. LOL. And as someone who studied and loved Egyptian history, I loved that destination the most. Every time I started a new game, I'd be back in Egypt playing all the quests. And when my Sims came home, I built a museum to put all of their relics in. LOL.
Ahaha yeah! I filled up my inventory with the portable showers, the nutrient block food and had two tents for each of my sims and then the parents went to explore different areas while the children where alone all vacation long😂👍
They desperately need to add a feature that lets you adjust game time Especially with the addition of things like parenting and laundry day My sims spend a half hour game time literally just to put down a dish and start walking to the bathroom and another half hour to an hour just to do their business

It’s the opposite for me
I feel like a lot of the people who say stuff like “just be grateful” are the same people who’ve never played the sims 2 or 3 and don’t really understand the standards in which the sims 4 should be at.
I also feel like those people are ridiculous. Be grateful for what? Giving them thousands of dollars and expecting games that work well and have what we like? I can at least understand the "Don't play if you don't like" but be grateful is one of the most ridiculous comments I've ever heard. LOL
we shouldn't 'just be grateful' because this is a capitalist company that literally SCAMS people into buying cheap quality packs for such high prices. nah, im never buying the sims 4, i will remain playing the game my own way.

That’s why I end up going the… uh… eyepatch route. Too many packs, nonstop, for features that were in the previous versions. And all of this is released buggy as hell. Moneymoneymoneymoney. Seems EA thinks we’re made of it.
How to fix the Sims 4: Just make the Sims 5, which could be a combo of Sims 2&3 gameplay, Sims 3 open world, and Sims 4 CAS and Build Mode, and bring back and upgrade all Sims 4 packs to be better in the Sims 5, and make them included in the base game instead of separate DLC. I swear, the Sims 4 is one of the only games where some DLC actually costs more than the game itself.
I just don’t get it, It’s not impossible, i used to play sims 2 with all packs and no mods for literally hours. Like 10 hours uninterrupted fall asleep wake up to a house fire and just keep it pushing. Those were the days
I played Sims 2 and only pets for years. After I got the complete edition I was shocked at how little kept me going and how I didn't know the game at all.
Oh my god good old days. Playing sims 2 on my laptop during the long car rides when we moved across the country and then playing it in my bed and falling asleep to it. The sims 4 could never. I reinstalled the Sims 2 some while ago and I can still play it all weekend.
I've returned to The Sims 3 recently, after uninstalling The Sims 4 for good. I only use NRAAS for technological reasons (a mod which makes the game run better on modern machines) and no additional mods, yet I can sink hours into the game. Just this weekend, I played with one sim for hours, not only to explore tombs with World Adventures, but also just having her at home, writing trashy novels for money and doing everyday stuff that would be boring in The Sims 4. Sims in The Sims 3 (and The Sims 2, I loved that one, too) have a personality. They do stuff on their own and what they do makes sense in combination with their skills and traits (such as my sim boosting her handiness skill while working on the vintage car I bought for her). With NRAAS in the background, cleaning up the technolgical side and minimizing lags and loading times, the game is great to play.

and nowadays EA blames Sims 4's shortcomings on the technology LOL... Sims 2 released in 2004 and Sims 3 in 2009!!
ALSO, in the sims 2 you could actually go shopping. your sim could pick out clothes from a clothes rack or jewelry from a jewelry display. sims 2 had so much more small stuff that that made the game feel more immersive.

I kind of doubt that EA cares whether long-term players stick around. They have their money from them and also a whole slew of other players as well. It's the perpetual carrot and stick. As long as people keep hoping it will get better, EA will happily dangle that carrot to throw money at.
And the fact how nobody speaks up about it and fans always jump to their defense is so freaking annoying. We will never get anywhere. I’m done.

I've been playing Sim™ games since the '90s, and started playing TS1 a few months after the base game was released. But thanks to having a really crappy computer for most of the last several years, I didn't start playing TS4 until shortly before Island Living came out. So my perspective for the longest time was, "I mean, I know it's not as good as previous versions of the game, but it's not _that_ bad." It's always a bit shocking to see videos like this and be reminded of just how bad it really was on release!
What ticks me off is one of them is my own uncle who was also a veteran of playing sims. Dunno why he kept praising TS4 for being realistic near to real life and totally trashing TS3. I've tried to explain but no avail, he kept pushing me to play those. At least for now my ol' laptop was too fragile to be played with TS4, I have a reason to uninstall. But I'm still secretly play TS3 (only base game so it won't ruin my laptop). Also it's sad that I cannot play TS2 anymore. Windows 10 update is really sucks that slowly they made TS2 cannot be installed in latter updates. I sort of wish EA will renewing the system inside TS2 instead releasing those packs. But yeah, I knew it's just an empty dream...
I have never disabled a Sims-Pack I bought, NEVER, not even Sims 4. But when "Bust the dust" came out I was so excited and in a matter of 15minutes I turned it off, leaving it in the dark corner of the room, hopefully forgetting about it in a couple of years. Sims 4 is just an utter cash grab. Its so sad.

I played a bit in Sims 4 and I can't fathom why they removed that one additional speed up that automatically turns off after sim is done with a current task. It'd made Sims 4 much more enjoyable. Hell after finding out that my sims 3 was loading so slow because it didn't detect my graphic card the only thing that Sims 4 had it going for itself, fast load time, is null and void now . Now because of how The Sims 3 had become much faster with it's loading time it's only downside dissapeared for me. It's still slower than Sims 4 in terms of loading, but the amount of space it loads is far superior. The only thing that Sims 4 does better is build mode but I never was much into building in any of the Sims games I played in.

Also the last time I touched the game was months ago... I hope Sims 5 comes out soon, I'm over it.
Good video. You really show how shallow the gameplay in Sims 4 is, nothing actually feels real, the sims are hollow, nothing has long term consequences. I remember one time in Sims 3, I got my sim to cheat on his wife and he got caught, the marriage was over, the wife was devastated she spent days crying, I couldn't get her to do anything because of how sad she was, I couldn't get the husband to talk to her and try to fix the relationship, she had enough of him, it was all over. I genuinely felt bad. By contrast the same situation in Sims 4 can be fixed in just a few real life minutes with no consequences at all
I hate how the trailers for the packs/kits and whatnot have all these cool interactions but the game itself is just a bunch of Sims standing around for “hours” on end. I’m not expecting EVERYTHING from the trailers but seriously?!
Even tough I've been playing frequently, the will to actually play is never there, I'd rather waste 3h-4h building or making sims that are basically clones of each other than actually watching my sim drink coffee and play on the computer until they died from ignoring basic needs. imo the sims 2 university is the best..idk why but i can play in the dormatory for hours without feeling bored.. kids makin out on the couch, water baloon fight, watching Tv together, cheerleaders and mascot running around, people dancing, a group of friends hangin out in one room and talks for hours while the owner try to make the assigment on a desk, ordering pizza for everyone, etc.. But why it isn't working in sims 4 with all it's expansion? i can't even finish a 2 days vacation cause im already bored.. building and character creation on the other hand, is quite addicting
The biggest issue for me when it comes to gameplay, is the lack of incompatible traits. Everyone can get along, no matter what. In the past, you couldn’t be friends with some sims no matter how hard you tried, because you were simply incompatible. It feels more like real life.
That's my big issue with romance and attraction in the game (or lack thereof). Relationships are symmetrical. There are no soulmates. Any sim will do. Just find one you like, talk to them for five minutes, and boom, you're married.
I like being able to control who my sims get along with, and having total decision over where to story goes. You can make them hate each other if you want drama. They'll also develop animosities with other sims "naturally" that you can either fix or make worse depending. I guess for me, I don't want the sims to imitate life, I want the sims to be my empty page.
@@cwonderland6259 I guess it comes down to different play styles. Some people like to play the sims likes a dollhouse, where they control the narrative and make up the story in their head. Other people like to play it like a god, where they sit back and watch the story unfold, and redirect it when they want. I personally like the little unexpected surprises and unforeseen conflicts, I think they add more depth to the game.
It's like they wanted to cradle us and make a super easy likeable game where everyone was your friend.
EA destroyed The sims reputation years ago when we realized they weren't interested in listening to what the players wanted.
Has EA EVER listened to players?
@@tracygoode3037 No you need to speak out and ask sim fan like lisim to stop helping them.
Thanks for the video, I must say that I've been reading your online guides since my Sims 2 days when I was a kid (I'm approaching 30 now 😅) and when I started playing the Sims 4 in more recent years, yours were the reviews on KZhead I was looking for. I was actually very surprised you weren't doing videos at the time as you've always been the "final authority" on all things Sims for me. Glad you're on KZhead now, yours are the first videos I look for when I'm looking for Sims opinions 😝
Sims 4 feels like a downgraded Sims 2 but with better graphics. There are a lot of things I like about Sims 2 that get improved over to Sims 3. I remember loving the exploration aspect from Sims 3 and how the vehicles in Sims 2 actually matter now in Sims 3. Sims 4 still has that "exploration" thing but due to how the neighborhoods are designed, the vehicles seem useless even if they put them in. So, they stripped it entirely...! Come on now. If they couldn't make it work, at least leave it in and not have us felt that it's "stripped away"...! And the Universities...! The entire university thing in Sims 4 feel more like chores than fun. Sims 2 and Sims 3 had great Universities expansion. Well, at least Sims 4's university allows our Sims to pursue multiple degrees...but that's all about the merit it provides. All in all... EA has forgotten that the Sims Expansion Packs should *expand* the game. These shouldn't just be contents that're downloadable. They need to add onto the gameplay and make it livelier.
The people who made Sims 2 were so passionate! Those who made Sims 3 were so generous! Where are they now?
Money hunger. First thing that came to mind. 😅
Elmira Deborah actually a lot of them was either replaced or left/removed somewhere else
The Sims 3 was microtransaction hell... It was like the Horse Armor from Oblivion, only there was $3000 worth.
remember how the people who made plant vs zombie ? i think EA do the same thing for them too.
In some payed DLC probably
They probably have more developers working on The Sims Mobile than the Sims 4 at this point, the game where you can't even buy a double bed without paying real money.
... I don't even play Sims 4, my little sis does. But I can still relate. It's like how nintendo is giving more attention to pokemon on mobile than the actual 60 dollar console game we wanted
@@lorettabes4553 I never bought Sims 4, when it released with less features than Sims 1 that was enough to kill the game before launch for me. I still think that Sims 2 is technically better than 3, despite the lack of Open World, but at least 3 had 1 step forward for every 2 steps back, Sims 4 was just 10 steps back.
Insider, Sims 4 is python
I never thought I could say I missed being robbed in the sims and the ugly patterns. Plus I missed the funny description on the items.
I really miss the exploration aspect that was present in MySims. I know a lot of simmers don’t like MySims, but I loved exploring in that game!
story progression was huge, i’m so sad they got rid of it.
don’t even get me started on babies😭
it’s such an insane thing to get rid of. they got rid of any story progression... in a life simulator. idk why this wasn’t a huge red flag to me back then
Even in TS2 it may exist 🤷♀️ Simfans recently have created mod that allow story progression in sims 2.
I liked the life part of the game, but i don't feel that ever since sims 2
frr but YOUR PFP😭😭
Reminds me of a relationship that isn't really going that great if you're being honest, but you ride it out until it's totally dead and then look back and realize how horrible it really was and how much time you wasted by not getting out sooner.
but you stay in it anyways, cause you holding onto that single thread (spider web thin) of hope that it will improve.
You forgot the jungle pack as well. Love all your work through the years! You were already there for me
If they released an expansion for the sims3 I'm almost convinced it would outsell the last 5 dlcs for the sims4 combined.
