Qué bien que toda la tripulación a bordo pudo evacuar sin incidentes. Buen trabajo. Good to know the flight crew evacuated without further incident. Good job.
You really could have let us see the whole landing video instead of covering it up with subtitles
a relative on their way back home had their flight sent back to texas because of this
Thank you for the quick video and the translations! I saw the video of the plane crash but hadn't seen anything about the pilots. I'm glad they're okay!

Whoa... thats a serious failure. Glad the crew is ok... can't imagine if this wasn't cargo
As far as hydraulic failures go with commercial aircraft, this wasn't all that bad. Could have been a lot worse if the gear failed on touchdown and skidded to a stop.
@@dfor You did notice the tail section broke off, right?
This specific airplane entered service as a passenger plane before being converted into a freighter some years later. Really scary incident and a real blessing the crew was safe.
From the look of the video, it seems like the cargo may have all been saved, or nearly so;
@@dfor y- y'know that skidding to a stop on the runway is nowhere near as bad as veering off the runway, headfirst into a ditch, ending in your tail snapping clean off, right?
I woke up, checked news, saw an article about an emergency landing. I searched for vasaviation on KZhead and the ATC for the landing had been uploaded 10 hours prior. You never disappoint, Vasaviation!
Hell of a drift, glad the pilots weren't hurt.
Well done to the person the recorded it, Landscape, No silly movements of the camera. Well done.
Agreed. Feels like schools should teach people how to record nowadays.
*_Yeah, but this channel wasted it by putting text on the video itself, so we can't see the gear struts collapsing. Should repost without text on the actual video!_*
@@mozvidz Yeah, it kills me that Viktor put text over the video.
Well he did understandably jerk a little when the plane left the runway & broke apart- I would've peed.

"...the crew stopped the climb at about FL210 declaring Mayday due to a hydraulic failure. The aircraft entered a hold while the crew worked the related checklists. The aircraft subsequently returned for an approach to runway 07 about 50 minutes after departure. After touchdown at 10:24L (16:24Z) the crew lost control of the aircraft, which spun around and went off the runway causing the aircraft to break up into two parts, both main gear struts collapsed. The crew was able to exit the aircraft without serious injuries."
Yes, I readed this on Aviation Herald, too.
But what about the packages? Seriously, glad the crew is ok, or I wouldn't joke about the packages.
@@johnhaller5851 I just hope my package is ok! Lol
They seemed to have decided to take the high speed taxiway instead of keeping it straight down the runway. Maybe they thought they had it under control till they initiated a right turn and the brakes locked up...Hydraulic failures often mean loss of anti-skid....

Glad everyone walked away from this crash. Thank you for getting this ATC out and translated so quickly, @VASAviation! Greatly appreciated!
Thank you very much for picking this accident up so immediately! :-) Thankfully nobody was seriously injured - but there´re still a lot of aged 757-freighters in the air - so it will be important to find the reason for this accident.

I’m from San Jose and a friend sent me an audio of the crew declaring a mayday but I didn’t hear it here, they stated they had hydraulic pressure issues on the left side.
Do you have any recordings for the Malaysian MH2664 that lost a lot of altitude a few days ago?
Glad this wasn't a passenger flight. Also happy to hear the crew made it. Hopefully the investigation goes quickly and accurately. Would be nice if it turns out to just be a unique problem as opposed to it being a maintenance issue. Only time will tell though!
Bro you’re fast 💨
This aircraft had a similar incident a month ago in Mexico, flapless landing due to a failure in one of the hydraulic systems.

Wow! Excellent job, VASAviation!
I can now say I've seen a B757 perform a sick drift.
Wow what a great axion from the pilot . So he put all the force of the plane in reverse by turning it 180 decrees.
That was some whiplash.
Thank you but why did you have to put text over the landing roll out!
Wow imagine being ground ATC, not seeing what happened (somehow) and being told, the airplane just crashed. I guess that's a moment you never expect or want to happen.
I was going to a work meeting when this happened, it was from TEAMS and when I joined everyone was like "did you see the news about the plane crash?" good 5min talking about it. Today they removed the cargo and the plane; they had to close the airport again for around 5h on early morning (from 00:00 to 5:00 local time).

As an active pilot, there is one thing I have failed to comprehend: the fact that many airfields have runways / thresh holds that give way to a drop in terrain and/or embankments. Numerous runway overruns have had fatal consequences, not due to the gravity of the overrun, but more so owing solely to the topographic nature of the surroundings, those well within the airfield perimeters. This question to the architects of modern airfields: would it not make sense to have the equivalent of truck emergency escape lanes, in other words a sand, gravel pit which gradually increases in depth to allow for a controlled deceleration ? Just a thought.
I understand what you mean, but I assume it all comes down to a cost-benefit analysis. Building perfecty leveled airports with the facilities you mentioned is probably expensive and complex, especially in areas with irregular terrain (such as Costa Rica), and not every country can afford to keep the standards so high. So, while in theory every airport should have these and other safety measures, in real life lots of airports only get the bare minimum to ensure safe normal operation, without accounting for every potential emergency situation.
Metal can be replaced, glad they're okay!
What an anti skid failure looks like. Probably should have just rolled out but hey arm chair pilot is easier than the actual event. Glad everyone is okay to fly another day.
Watching this, I'm wondering if a load of foam could be used as fire retardant and crash assistance just behind the pilots full circle entrance ...it makes sense to do something more...for fires and wreckage...like several fire foam regions like a airbag in cars ..but maybe it can be more active in waters for water troubles. A secure barrier of sorts might help...it's light so wouldn't weigh too much, it's effective or wouldn't be used, it might work to help save lives. IDK...idea central , what works
¡Qué rápido!
If the hydraulic issue was the Left system, which means no left reverser, no nose wheel steering and the pilots used right reverser, that could have cause that right turn. The accident report will have the info.
They would have veered earlier during the rollout
Here's a better video of the rollout and ground loop. kzhead.info/sun/iLqHgrJuf3uwlWg/bejne.html The left tire was smoking before the right turn...and you can hear the engine (s) spool up in reverse.
That’s what I thought, not so much the brakes because of the smoke coming off the wheels. In another video, it looks like there was power to the left engine, but no thrust reverser deployed. You could hear the engines throttled up like they would be if they were reversing thrust .
@@JJBpilot Desperately trying to differential brake to to counteract asymmetric reversers by the looks of things. Glad they are ok.
@@VASAviation not necessarily, if you have hyd powering the rudder you might be able to control the aircraft but as you slow down you loose control of the aircraft with the rudder, all you have left is NWS and differential braking, and if they kept max reverse thrust at slow speeds it might cause an uncontrollable yaw with what they had left
Everyone waiting for mentor pilot because VAS already posted .. the only 2 reliable sources 😆
Haven't see an jet liner ground loop until now.
I think that 777 that crashed at SFO also did a ground loop.
The radio "recordings" from the Luxplanes guy on KZhead are fake right?
wicked
That did not look survivable for rear-end passengers so it is fortunate that it was a cargo plane ... glad the crew evacuated safely
hmmm with no fire I think TBH it was survivable
All of them would have survived, no fire
As the aircraft departs the runway it appears that the left engine is generating a significant amount of forward thrust, above idle power at least. Whilst it is far too early to draw any solid conclusions about what happened, it is certainly possible that choosing to land a heavy aircraft with a hydraulic failure on a hot and high runway with a 10kt tailwind might not have been a particularly great plan.
You're correct. The right thruster did successfully enter rear-thrust mode, but the left one did not. The off-balance is what spun it like a top.
Small nitpick but the text during the crash overlays the video where you can't see what's going on until it fades out.. might move it above the plane.
It's intentional so they don't get hit with a copyright claim.
That's the first time i ever saw a ground loop from a non-tail dragger.
You are fast
That was quick. Only happened yesterday.
That’s why you should always ask for/accept the « roll the trucks » 🙏
Fortunately the trucks were really quick on the scene, indeed!
Anybody knows why they are taking runway 07 with 10kts tailwind ? I am not familiar with MROC, any restrictions on rwy 25 ?
may be because visual approach rwy 25 needs left turns
Broke right along the aft pressure bulkhead too seems like!
What caused the loss of control at end. They seemed to have been lined up before skidding out of control. In kinda looks like the brakes locked up on one side causing the loss of control but that is just a guess
Dang glad that they were ok knowing my dad he'd probably expect me to fix it with JB Weld, duct tape and baler twine
I'm picturing a huge hose clamp, just cinch it down nice and tight between the break in the fuselage.
Oh wow... that's scary
Why with wind 250/7kts, RWY07 was in use ??
? Do not have the full communication recording of the mayday being declared
NIce work by the crew in exiting the runway to enable operations to recommence!
Surprised there was no immediate fire when the plane broke apart.
@@terryboyer1342 it did have hazardous material on board. Thank god none went off after that.
@@terryboyer1342 the entire wing landed on the ground
@@terryboyer1342 That was pure luck considering both main gear smoked and collapsed dumping the engines on the ground. Someone was looking out for these guys.
@@terryboyer1342 the right engine was tore loose, they were really lucky no post crash fire.
Here’s a better ground view of the landing. You can see they came to a stop almost within water range of the first crash fire truck. Maybe 100 yards? They had foam on it almost instantly. I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed quite that fast of a fire response. They barely had to move.
Super glue that thing fix the hydraulics and tell Jose and Pedro to go finish the flight.
*Pilots are now taildragger current!*
So I am sitting on an Allegiant A320 that apparently suffered nose wheel steering failure on final, fire trucks followed us down the runway I forget the flight number but it was from Phoenix Mesa to Fort Wayne Edit: it was Allegiant 1294
Yo soy de Costa Rica y se como se estrello ese avión. Empezó con fallas hidráulicas y luego cuando aterrizó giro a a la derecha de la nada y se partio en 2
There goes my package, I’m grad everyone is safe anyways!!
Thank God the the 757 broke up only after safely landing on the ground.
Why is it always cargo planes? Are there just more of them or are they the older planes?
Cargo airlines often buy second hand airliners and convert them to freighters. So you often see older models in cargo roles.
It appears the crew tried to turn off on the high speed. Hopefully that's not the case because they still had a significant amount of runway and overrun to go straight ahead.
I saw another comment point out that the right side reverse thruster had deployed correctly while the left one was still stowed away. From that it appears the offbalance thrust is what spun it around.
Thankfully it was a cargo flight. If it was a pax flight it may have been a lot worse .
Did they loose all the hydraulics? Was it just the hydraulic pumps or the fluid? I’m guessing they didn’t have nose wheel steering upon landing. Anyone has more details? Thanks
It's not like the old days where everything is on one giant loop. They were still able to deploy their landing gears, activate the right side reverse thruster, and were able to control their yaw-tilt-roll still. Looks like it was a hydraulic failure localized to the left engine.
Primera vez que veo un avión hacer Drift
Leave it to the private jet to tie up a frequency as soon as the word “emergency” is used. Guys can’t afford to idle for two minutes to get the nature of the emergency before filling up the airways at a critical time.
Thanks to memes i instantly inserted the eurobeat "deja vu" song when the plane was sliding.
DHL Tokyo Drift? Good thing no one's hurt.
Anyone familiar with the layout of this airport? Wondering why they chose to land with a tailwind?
SJO, always has a tailwind for runway 07 and combined with bad visual illusions. Easy to get unstable landing the other direction your descending into high terrain or visual traffic patern. Just glad the crew was safe. It will be interesting to see the crews thoughts on why they continued back to SJO not go to PTY (base) less than 45 min away.
You put text over the landing video? 🤦
That won't buff out
Hydrologic failure can cause the gear to collapse?
They left the runway and dragged it through the rough
Downwind landing? Why?
Sure there was a sigh of relief when the plane touched down, followed by an oh sh*t.
This is why my DHL package is delayed
