  • I fear that the restored vehicle will become a death trap for the next occupants in an accident. So many structural components are destroyed that the strength and stability of the body and its ability to absorb impact energy are so severely compromised that next time, no one will come out alive. Whoever drives this car will need an entire army of guardian angels...

    @Vorname.Nachname@Vorname.Nachname4 ай бұрын
    • Your concern about the safety of a restored vehicle is valid, especially if crucial structural components have been compromised. The structural integrity of a vehicle is essential for its ability to absorb impact energy and protect occupants during accidents. If significant damage has occurred and the restoration doesn't address these structural issues properly, it could indeed pose a serious safety risk.

    • Although you have to consider the fact that like in some countries cost of repair is too much that a person would rather buy a new vehicle like for example America , but if you would consider countries like Pakistan where the currency conversion is too abnormal that we cannot buy new vehicles that easy and cost of repair is very less like for example if a car cost 3 million rupees here , an accident like this would make a repair bill for rupees 300,000 which is one tenth of the car cost which will not be the case in America , this vehicle may be unsafe for highway drive but pretty safe for city drive in Pakistan since max speed on city roads here is 60 kilometers per hour

    • Cars are not milled or pressed from one solid piece at the factory, they are welded across seams. Pay notice to how the sections are cut so that they interlock which spreads the tension across the metal.

      @Sohave@Sohave3 ай бұрын
    • The welding was only carried out on the outer plate, which is just aesthetic, the entire inner structure of the sides was not welded inside. Normally in the inner structure when it is cut and replaced, it should be welded in layers and if possible reinforce the inner.

  • Known as a ''Cut & Shut'' in UK, details have to be enclosed on registration documents and rigourously tested by the Ministry of Transport, however some vehicles do manage to slip through the procedure and end up on the market without the purcheasers knowledge

    @stephendartnall8928@stephendartnall89284 ай бұрын
    • Thank you for providing additional information. In the UK, the practice you mentioned is commonly referred to as a "Cut & Shut," where two or more vehicles are cut and then joined together. This process is regulated, and details about such modifications are required to be included in registration documents. Additionally, rigorous testing by the Ministry of Transport is supposed to ensure that the modified vehicle meets safety standards. However, as you mentioned, there are instances where vehicles manage to slip through the procedure and end up on the market without the purchasers' knowledge. This is a serious concern as it could pose significant safety risks. Authorities and regulatory bodies play a crucial role in enforcing these regulations and conducting thorough inspections to prevent such vehicles from being sold without proper documentation and safety checks. If consumers suspect that a vehicle may have undergone unauthorized modifications or pose safety concerns, it's advisable to perform due diligence, conduct vehicle history checks, and report any discrepancies to the relevant authorities. It underscores the importance of maintaining and enforcing robust regulatory frameworks to ensure the safety of vehicles on the road.

    • Your perspective reflects a practical and safety-conscious approach. Indeed, determining whether a damaged vehicle is worth repairing depends on various factors, including the extent of the damage, the cost of repairs, and the potential impact on safety and structural integrity. In some cases, deeming it a parts car might be a more practical decision, especially if the damage is extensive. Prioritizing safety and making informed decisions about the feasibility of repairs are crucial aspects of the automotive repair process.

    • The video doesn't provide a detailed step-by-step process of joining the two parts. However, it appears that the repair involves welding and aligning the damaged sections. Welding techniques, such as MIG welding, are commonly used in automotive repairs to fuse metal pieces together. The specific methods and tools used in the repair process may vary based on the expertise of the individual performing the restoration and the equipment available.

  • I see a lot of people making legitimate arguments about the structural integrity of the vehicle going forward, but in some parts of the world that's a luxury and safety isn't a foremost concern. Here in the States we're so spoiled with the resources available to us, that safety can be a primary concern. We're more likely to die from an unsafe accident here, than say from starvation. In other parts of the world, safety is often seen as a luxury that impedes progress and stifles someone's ability to get ahead. If some guy needs a car to provide for his family and his commute rarely exceeds 35mph or if it's simply used for a weekly commute to market or to a much needed medical professional for treatment, then this is ideal and affordable.

    @ditherdather@ditherdather3 ай бұрын
    • You make a valid point. Indeed, the context and priorities can vary significantly across different regions and circumstances. In certain parts of the world, people might prioritize affordability and functionality over some of the safety features that are considered essential in more developed regions. It's essential to consider the local context, regulations, and the specific needs of individuals in different areas. While safety is crucial and should be a priority, it's important to recognize that not everyone has access to the same resources or faces identical challenges.

Cars are welded together but to take the stress out of the welds the parts interlock so as to spread out the load, if this is done propperly by the bodyshop, the car is as strong as before.

When done professionally and according to industry standards, repair work, including welding, can effectively restore a damaged car to its original strength. Skilled technicians, like the one in the video, use their expertise to ensure that the repaired vehicle meets safety standards and performs as intended.

    • Your concerns about the structural integrity of the vehicle are valid. Staggering welds and using damaged components in repairs can indeed raise questions about the overall safety and reliability of the vehicle. In many regions, including Britain, vehicles with significant structural compromise may be deemed beyond economical repair and considered a total loss by insurance standards. Proper repair techniques and adherence to safety standards are crucial in ensuring the structural integrity of a vehicle after an accident. If you have specific details or questions about the repair process, it's advisable to discuss them with the professionals involved to ensure that safety standards have been followed.

    @giuseppelavecchia775@giuseppelavecchia77513 күн бұрын
    • La saldatura delle sezioni interne di rinforzo, come i sottoporta con lamierati interni, può essere un processo complesso e richiedere un approccio attento e preciso. Ecco alcuni modi in cui si potrebbe affrontare questa sfida: Accesso tramite aperture esistenti: In alcuni casi, i saldatori possono accedere alle sezioni interne utilizzando aperture esistenti o creando aperture temporanee nei pannelli esterni. Questo consente loro di raggiungere le sezioni interne e eseguire le saldature necessarie. Smontaggio parziale: A volte, i componenti interni possono essere parzialmente smontati o rimossi per consentire l'accesso alle sezioni interne per la saldatura.

If a car has been involved in a severe accident, leading to significant damage that compromises its structural integrity and safety, it might be deemed unfit for road use. The advantage is you can get your car repaired cheaply if it’s not mechanical (engine), but anything else it’s a free for all and you don’t know what you are buying. It is unregulated. No documentation to say salvaged, rebuilt, etc nothing. Chinese industry is amazing but business ethics, laws and integrity are back in the 1600s.

After an accident, the insurance company will also record the accident in detail. However, some people still collect the benefits. Driven to secretly tamper with accident records and conceal the accident process, I think these are phenomena that exist in any country.

    @david929190@david9291902 ай бұрын
    • Your observation raises a critical point about welding and structural integrity, especially when it comes to rocker panels or any other structural components of a vehicle. Welding practices play a crucial role in ensuring the strength and safety of the repaired structure. In traditional auto body repair, the goal is to replicate the original manufacturing process as closely as possible. If a section of a vehicle's structure needs to be replaced, it is generally cut out, and the new piece is welded in a way that mimics the factory welds. Butted joints, where the pieces are aligned end-to-end, are commonly used, but the welding process is critical to maintaining strength. If not done properly, welding can compromise the structural integrity of the vehicle. It's essential to follow industry best practices and guidelines to ensure that the repair is both safe and durable. In some cases, welding may need to be supplemented with additional reinforcement or bracing.
