VW Touareg V10 TDI Vs. Chevy Duramax Bumper pull

2012 ж. 6 Қыр.
6 021 129 Рет қаралды

A quick pull with my neighbor. IIRC, a 2006 or 2008 Chevy Duramax, lifted, stacked, weighted and tuned vs. my 2006 VW Touareg V10 TDI with K&N drop in air filters. Both in 4low, VW had all diffs(front, rear, center) locked and at lowest possible ride height (factory air suspension). When the Chevy hopped he broke all the tie rods on the independent front suspension, both wheels were turned inwards and thus putting it back to RWD and it lost. Nothing any of us expected. This was in 2012. Thank you for your views and sharing! Don't overthink it!

    • The VW has nowhere near the amount of power or torque as the duramax, it all comes down to the fact that when VW makes a "4x4" they have front and rear locking/limited slip differentials. The chevy is a "4x4" but the rear diff doesn't lock like the VWs and the front is open. So you have 4 wheels getting power in the VW and at most only 3 wheels getting power in the chevy, but more than likely one front and one rear only.

Those are a set that LOOK like offroad tires, in truth the tread is made like that but they're a street tire, plus the diesel really ISN'T as amazing a tow motor as people make it out to be. Trucks, like big trucks, used to use Gasoline motors with superchargers, this changed as diesels on the dyno have been shown to produce more low range torque and use less fuel overall, however with diesel being more expensive and motor options for V8s and V10s being more common these days the reign of the diesel as the best towing motor has come to an end very handily. This just seems like a guy, honestly, who has a lot to compensate for and just as little between his ears. Props to the VW I applaud him for owning such a vehicle and not being a dick

The small difference between the two is that all-wheel drive is a little more sophisticated and allows the vehicle to be in two-wheel drive unless there is wheel slippage and then the front wheels are engaged. So all-wheel drive is kind of like on demand 4-wheel drive. True four-wheel drive means power is going to all the wheels, all the time. I have a Ford work truck that will pull 2 of those VWs. I looked up the torque curve and it's nothing. I'm not butthurt I own 2 Japanese cars and a BMW bike and they're my favorite.

  • I can't think of a single time an American engine outperformed a European rival. This seems especially true when you look at how Muricans once needed 6 liter engines to generate a couple hundred horses while Europe was already turbocharging 2 liters upwards of 300hp.
