  • As great and explosive as he was, I think Mike Tyson even in his prime would have struggled to beat the real heavyweight technician - an on form Lennox Lewis.

    @ErmintrudeRissole@ErmintrudeRissole2 ай бұрын
    • Prime Mike would've taken any version of Lewis apart. He was never susceptible to the single shot, had both great head movement, footwork, lateral movement, shot selection, and could take shots while landing explosive combinations. Lewis was susceptible to the single shot. He'd either have ko'd him, or outworked him. The later version Mike was a one-dimensional slugger.

    • All great punchers usually struggle against great boxers. This is one reason Joe Louis held the title for 12 (!!) years, because he was a great boxer AND had great power. Look up some of these great punchers. Foreman struggled with Ali, Tyson against Douglas, Liston against Ali, Tyson against Lewis, etc. It's like baseball. A great slugger will usually struggle against a great pitcher

  • Give Thomas credit. He can take a Helluva punch. This fight was turning in his favor, but he got caught. Give Tyson credit, too. I suspect if this fight would've gone another 2 or 3 rounds, Thomas wouldve made it fairly close, because Tyson wasnt the same fighter after 7 or 8 rounds. I had Tyson winning 4 rounds to 1, maybe 3-2, until this KO. Thomas has a very good jab. I dont know if I agree it was second only to Liston's, as Foreman had a telephone pole jab, and Holmes jab was vicious, too. The 1958-196 version of Sonny Liston, with his 14" fists (!), 84" reach, and tremendous power would've probably been Hell for Mike.
