Witcher 4 & 9 Other Games We Don’t Expect This Gen - Next-Gen Console Watch
Welcome back to Next-Gen Console Watch. This week Daemon is joined by Podcast Beyond's Max Scoville and Jada Griffin. The topic: games that are already announced that we don't think we'll see until next-gen (PlayStation 6 and whatever the next Xbox will be called). The Elder Scrolls VI was announced during the previous PS4/Xbox One era, it's very likely we won't be playing it on the PS5/Xbox Series X. We also know Naughty Dog is working on something, but it's not that cancelled The Last of Us multiplayer game, and it's possible that game will skip this gen and go to next. And let's not get started on Beyond Good and Evil 2, which was announced during the PS3/Xbox 360 era, went silent for years, showed up again about 5 years ago with new cinematics and gameplay footage, and has gone dark again. It's so weird to think that next-gen consoles might already be here. The current generation feels like it just started since most of us couldn't get one until 2022 or so.
Due to covid and scalpers. If it weren’t for that, even some previous games that have came out would have been much different, possibly better than released. Yet the world slows for no one. There isn’t really much reason to upgrade early during new consoles anyway. So no need to rush and buy a ps6. They still have games releasing on ps4.
The current generation has been out for a while, although we just started getting third party (and in a lot of cases first party) exclusives a year or two ago.
This gen is/was like Remaster Gen.

IO Interactive is actually openly recruiting for Project 007. Meaning they entered full production, it will come out in 2-3 years.

Such a shame and if this ends up being true then this current gen of gaming will go down historically as being rather underwhelming...
This gen has seriously been very lackluster. These games are not taking full advantage of the current console hardware yet

Why do y’all act as if you need to buy the next console as soon as it’s released? PS4 still releasing games even though the ps6 might come out in a few years. Enjoy what you have and stop complaining. PS5 will still have games release for it.
The problem is that it doesn't take 2-3 years to make games anymore. It usually takes 5-7 years now. They can barely make one game during a console cycle.

I'm so happy what this generation of consoles was able to accomplish despite the setback of COVID, we've gotten so many 10/10 games and masterpieces this console cycle

This gen has been pretty underwhelming so far, especially on xbox. The highlight has been how well last gen games play on them

Nope, on Xbox it's better than last gen for Xbox. 4 exclusive games in these year from 1st party studios has been announced, but for Sony zero 1st party games will be released in this year, but there are some third part exclusives with nothing new.

Playstation is very underwhelming too, all they do is sequels and remakes and not much is new on PS5 generation, yawn! Boring 3rd party games have been carrying this generation

They probably released a game near the end of ps5 lifetime, same as TLoU on ps3
They're making a new I.P. for PS5. TLOU: Part 3 is very likely going to be saved for PS6 given that it is only in its pre-production period of development at the moment.
The studio made a terrible decision cancelling factions 2. so they wasted a lot of money & time that could have been spent on releasing this highly anticipated game, means the next game will take much longer because of this smh.
Just change the name of the show to "Console Watch". Love the show, you guy keep doing this for a long time!
