The STORY of this abandoned flooded Playstation 1 (PS1) console game 🎮, 🕹️:
I spend my days scouring 🔍 thrift stores for worn, abandoned, and damaged electronics, challenging myself to repair and restore them 🛠️. While hunting for a Sega Mega Drive 2🎮, I spotted a flooded PlayStation slim in the background of an ad, in terrible condition. I contacted the owner, who kindly gave it to me for free, having lost hope of it ever working again. This video documents the 36-day journey of restoring this console, given my care and attention to detail. I hope you enjoy watching it! 🎮🔧
In this video:
The restoration begins with a comprehensive cleaning 🧼, taking apart the console and tackling every component. A meticulous 4-step wash 🚿 ensures all flood remnants are erased. The ABS plastic will undergo a retro-brightening treatment 💡 to remove any discoloration, while rusty metal trays are refreshed with a nickel-plated finish 🛠️.
Moving on to repairs 🔧, a broken screw mount is reinforced with epoxy resin. The PS1’s lens receives a detailed overhaul 👓, and the circuit board is cleaned to address any water damage 🧽. Electrical connections, including the AC power socket and AV video plug, are re-soldered 🔌, and the power switch is restored 💡. I'll say this.. you were definitely prepared for this restoration, and what a restoration it was. I'm fairly new to this stuff (newly developed hobby), because I wanted to give my Xbox 360s some tlc. So I've been binging on console restoration videos in particular for about 2 months now, and I can say without a doubt in my mind that THIS video has been the most extensive restoration I've ever seen. Loved it all, the cool tools, the compounds. You rebuilt pieces of the shell even, that was awesome, but I think it was the motherboard for me. Fantastic video man, really. The end part playing Metal Gear Solid was a pretty awesome blast from the past.👍🏻👍🏻💯💯😌😌

Two months of watching restoration videos is a great way to learn. Yes washing mother bord with some care has no problem, it looks scary but don't worry if you remove all moistures and does not use harsh chemicals and remove any battery from the board during the washing step, no problem will occurs. However I highly recommend to use high pressure air or Isopropyl alcohol unless the motherboard is as bad condition as in the video u watched. 💙

I have done restoration since I was 9 as a hobby and at this moment I know a lot about chemical thanks to my academic education, and I know about mechanical tools and electronics because of my passion.

If this thing can be brought back to life this gives me hope for the myriad of consoles that just stopped working for no reason that I still hold onto. What you did here was more aching to surgery than simple restoration, I have never seen another restorer go to such lenghts and you have defiently earned another sub. THIS is restoration. Fixing plastic and not finding a donor shell or buying chinese knockoffs from whatever chinese site is on everyone's lips at that time. my dude tearing apart a barrel jack to restore it. Doing the lords work buddy.

I appreciate the fact that there is still some blemish to be seen through the vents on the bottom proving this is the same console. And you need to use some more flux while soldering man. The rough soldering on that AV jack sticks out like a sore thumb amongst the meticulous cleaning and care taken for everything else.
