I’ve had a nosey on their Facebook page (as no website) and there was a young lad who attempted their challenge and it was no way the size of what Mr Beard has had to attempt! I don’t know whether it was made smaller as he was younger but the amount of stuff they put on for Mr Beard was way more than for a normal bloke I think 😔
Mistake he made was giving them a heads up, probably just doubled everything.

@@GiraffeCubedI AGREE 100%. 6 of everything - eggs, blood pudding, sausages and, yes SIX SLICES OF BREAD. NOT a loaf. I did a pause and counted them. Now, I cannot speak on the beans and mushrooms or on how packed the fries bowl was, but things on the sandwich were in groups of 6.

But who really loses in a challenge like this, they are selling an absolute massive amount of delicious looking food for only $12 (which is most likely at cost) and with the only penalty if you lose, you donate $10 to charity. They're probably not profiting at all in this, so while it may be a shady practice it's not entirely a huge con like some restaurants challenges can be.
It wasnt delicious that's one of reasons he failed 12 quid for all that is cheap trash. I can tell the bake beans ain't Heinz for a kick off.

20 slices of toast on top of a massive baguette and a huge bowl of chips? That food challenge looked good without those added extras, looked clear they just didnt want to be beaten which just takes the fun and fairness out of the videos - good effort beard 👍

They are the ones that hosted a competition, and there are plenty of pics from this challenge that lacked the toast for example in addition to smaller portions, the standard has to be upheld, so it is fair. Otherwise none of their results can be trusted. They lost my respect. Being fair and transparent is important to me personally, and should be for them as well. @@wotajoker4802

Good test of whether it's usually that much food for 12 pounds would be to say you want to do the challenge, then when the thing is in front of you have three mates come out and enjoy it with you. Doubt they'd be too pleased to feed all four of you for 12 pounds.

The cafe increased the portions above what they normally do, doubled the chips, doubled the filling, and it doesn’t come with the toast. That’s why the price seemed so far off.

in the facebook post you show you can see the portion of chips is alot less aswell as toppings. Also they do not make any mention of toast in the post. They purposefully made it unbeatable for you

I just watched this, but I've actually been here when someone ordered this! Didn't stick around to see the outcome, but there was definitely no toast and waaay less chips! Looked possible. Beard got scammed here. The toast alone that beard got must be around £6 worth (£1 a slice?). Will have to go back and order to go. Feed the family for a couple of days for £12

Yep, it was pretty clear on first watch when the toast came out that something was seriously amiss. Between the tone of Beard's voice and his roll-eyes there, you can tell he was miffed, but wasn't in the mood to make a scene.

So, really they don't benefit if ya lose at all and it goes to a good cause. Plus, they're just a small local mom & pop shop, nothing wrong with supporting small business like them! Not exactly a good practice by any means (if they did increase actually pull a fast-one and increase it), but no where near those horrible places that cheat popular big eaters like beard just in attempt to get free publicity and notoriety but have no intention of playing fairly at all.

The original challenge post clearly has a smaller portion of chips and no toast. It even says "full french stick filled with all breakfast items and chips" (no mention of toast) So yeah, does look like they increased the amount of food when they saw him coming

Anytime you fail a video which is so rare, I truly believe it is not you who fail it is them. It is because the cafe/restaurant failed you. They cheat you out of a win and manipulate the situation to make it look like you failed. It’s sad so many places do this. Greta job on your part and you are not a failure. Your attitude is so positive and friendly. It’s nice to see you be so awesome despite places that treat you not so great.

I don't think it's fair. They shouldn't have called it a sandwich challenge. They added a ton of bread and huge pile of jumbo fries. You did superb! That sandwich was a giant!
You’re going to need to hire a staff to go in and get the order in and so you can swoop in for the challenge when it hits the table. I guarantee that the regular challenge is significantly less bread or chips.
It's sad but true, probably use a fake account to reach out to restaurants and then a friend (not his wife because she's in a good amount of videos) to go in and order and wait until its on the table.

@@GigaChadMakari compared to their facebook photos, there were 4 eggs instead of six, and the baguette was just about filled up to the edges. Here the baguette is filled with 3x as much stuff, the bowl of chips is filled much higher than any other facebook photo and there is no toast on any other facebook picture. They've intentionally tried to make him lose, which is absolutely pathetic and seriously damages their reputation.
Definitely added more than they normally do , Also why mushrooms make you feel so awful is once you've eaten them they swell up in your stomach,and even more so once you start drinking water xx

They 100% doubled your meal. When me and my mate tried that challenge. It was half the size. Mabey even 1/4. Came with fries. Didn't come with any bread. They literally wanted you to fail. What a dirty trick. I have seen this a few times before and other pro eaters have mentioned it. It doesn't happen a whole lot, but some places this one included intentionally add things in, make the portions larger, or in the case of spicy challenges make them even spicier if they know a youtuber is going for the challenge. A real low thing to do IMO. Even have had a couple of very notable instances of it happen on Man Vs Food and he isn't even a pro eater.

They should rename this challenge “the anti-beard” or “the razor” or something like that. This challenge was not only super heavy on the carbs, but also was mostly covered in mushrooms, making this a complete nightmare for you in particular. Good effort tho, you’re a legend!

I feel this was a very unfair challenge. The sandwich itself seems mostly doable by people like Beard, but the additional 6 white bread slices and a very large overflowing bowl of chips is insane. There's more calories here than in most two person challenges.
I can sort of see the fries (chips) if eating this meal "normally": a bite of sammich, a bite of fries, rinse and repeat till done (one way or other). Seems to me they'd even themselves out. But all that side-bread seems an odd inclusion, since the sammich itself includes lots of bread. There's no need for more (again assuming this is seen as a huge but "normal" meal).

See when Beard tipped out the bowl of chips there was a perfectly uniform sized row side by side all along the bottom like they were carefully placed to fit in as many as possible, it was like a solid ball and it was stacked about twice the height of the bowl as well. Seems there was a few dark arts deployed here, the scamps. In the immortal words of Dire Straits, 'the dice was loaded from the start'.

Beard destroys Randy from A-Z in these videos as far as I'm concerned. The authenticity, the humor, the Narrating, the person ect. ect. Every aspect is just so much more enjoyable IMO and this is coming from an American. 😀
They definitely stitched you up there Adam, the pictures they’ve posted on Facebook of the challenge are half the size and I don’t see a loafs worth of toast in sight on them either 😂

I checked out the picture of the table that three guys were sitting at and all of them had sandwiches and a side of chips. Definitely no bread! Places that do that sort of dodgy crap deserve a bad reputation.

I have alot of issues around food due to constant nausea, but I love watching your video WHILE eating it helps distracting me so I don´t focus on what I´m doing.

He barely touched the bread or chips and didn't even finish the main sandwich, so the stitch up is irrelevant.
@@smorkx1286 Not really. When you look at a photo of someone else doing the challenge you can even see that the main sandwich looks smaller which less fillings! If they had played fair, he would have done it. It's not the first time an eating establishment has whacked a load more food on the challenge because they know a big name is coming to do it and it won't be the last. Sometimes, they throw the towel in because they know they're doomed from the start so why bother eating all the extra food when they know they're gonna fail?

I think the toast "side" was excessive. However, the price was awesome! I would order that regularly just because it was such a good deal. This was the first challenge I saw you unable to complete. Great effort!

According to several commenters, they added more to the challenge than with previous people. The other ones were able to just about close the sandwich, Beard had to eat half of it until he was able to close it. So I'd say they massively increased the amount of food just for him, so that the challenge remains undefeated.

after watching 20 videos in a row...i honestly think it was the early mushrooms that gotcha. they didn't need to add the whole loaf of bread and maybe half as many chips(fries, because im in texas) but i think the mushrooms gotcha because i feel like ive seen you eat more. i couldnt do half that so its still hats off!!
