this is way too sponsored and salesy brother the genuine reviews are way better than this, no pricing, no comparing to other brands, no discounting options mentioned not much of downsides mentioned.
Agreed. The end of the video "Now down to price... uggh it shouldn't be too much more than last years" Shouldn't reviews be based on actual fact? Be sure to Pick one up! What a load of crap from this channel. You can see how happy his face is at the end, Lenovo clearly is letting him keep the machine.
It's a showcase
@@youp1tralala it is an ad
I'm so baffled people don't know the difference between a first look/unboxing and an actual review. It's a sponsored video to show off a retail product and I much prefer this over a regular commercial. Going over style and features.
Well... You have a point, but that may be just an opinion. Otherwise I watch this channel just to relax on tech news
Sponsored reviews are getting worse every time. At this point these are all 10min ads basically.
True. Can’t seem to take their reviews serious anymore.
Adblocker unfortunately doesn't work here.
From what I remember, the last year model Legion Slim 7i 2023 had only one DDR5 slot, one was soldered, only Legion Slim 5i 2023 had two DDR5 slots. This Legion 7i 2024 has two DDR5 slots. And has one USB Type A minus.
The 2024 has 3 usb-c instead of 2. More usb-c and less usb-A, it’s a good compromise imo.
Despite having one ram stick interchangeable and one soldered, as long as there are two ram sticks the legion 7i 2023 will still support dual channel so its not a huge loss.
i remember you need to match the ram timing and size to make it stable, so 32gigs is the max
Hey IBR thanks for the detailed comparison vs the 2023 Slim 7i. I find these to be the most stunning hybrid gaming/creative laptop series on the market and I'm glad they brought the white option to north america. Thank you again !
Great video ! 6:49 Undervolting is possible but you need to turn off undervolt protection in the BIOS first. Then use throttlestop ideally as XTU seems a bit weird with the HX series.
legion needs to offer a mini led or oled screen for the normal 7i models (instead of only 9i) and they will be perfect - great quality, great keyboard, great performance, often sales on their website
Was about to comment this. No mini LED or oled is such a bummer. Still havent found my perfect laptop, closest is the new Zephyrus G16 and the unaffordable Blade.
@@xavcast the g16 looks only good on paper...overpriced low tdp cpu/gpu that overheats quickly and downthrottles according to reviews so youre paying a lot for little performance
pretty much, scar 16 will be much better, a thick laptop that can actually use the 4080/90 with similar miniled display, and a much more powerful cpu that can happily draw double the power of the g16 cpu
@@nemesis7884hmm... Which reviewer show you that though? Afaik notebookcheck has not found any throttling in their stress test. Yes the wattage is lower but the G16 also happens to beat every other 4080+ laptop in efficiency and battery life.
We were waiting for the 9i last year for the Mini LED screen, but the price was so over the top (5000+ EUR plus the screen did not get that favorable reviews) so we ended up buying a 4090 Pro 7 (nearly 1500 EUR cheaper).
Amm, how fast does the CPU have to be to not get those lags that were shown at 6:48?
The lag shown in the video is the screen video capture lagging not the device itself
How are the speakers?
they have removed 1 usb port in the new 2024 model as it has 2 type A and 2 type C and in 2023 it has A type and 2 type C
I'm surprised he missed that! The 2023 has 3 type A ports while the 2024 only has 2 Type A USB ports.
@@nicktempletonable as I am using the Lenovo legion slim 7i 2023
As another user pointed me, too, 2024 model has 2 USB A and 3 USB C vs. 3 USB A and 2 USB C in 2023, so, no losing of ports, only a good compromise.
@@Ouroboros49 hey is 2024 model a full metal frame chassis ?
Love the design direction that gaming laptops are going in. First g14 and now this. Nice to have a laptop you could take into professional situations and not be embarrassed.
My Legion 7 gen 6 still going strong and smooth after so many years 🤌 I personally felt it’s the best Legion of all time: 1. Best Screen ✅ 2. Best Design ✅ 3. Best Port Placement ✅ 4. Best RGB ✅ 5. Lightweight ✅ Downside: 1. iCUE Power Drainage ❌ 2. HD Camera only ❌ 3. Back Panel Difficult to Open ❌ 4. No Window Hello ❌ 5. No Fingerprint Sensor ❌
Same and hate to see that the tiers have been splitted in order to charge more money. The legion 7 was the top tier with all the rgb, and highest GPU configuration
Dont forget the alluminum chasis💪
I've been rocking Legion 5i Pro 2022 and it's been rock-solid! I can't believe that there is a better laptop than that one! Good job Lenovo!

This new Legion 7i adds a sodimm ddr5 slot compared to the previous Legion Slim 7i, which only has 1 sodimm ddr5 slot. Also, they replace one USB-A to USB-C, that why it only has 2 USB-A compared to the previous, which has 3 USB-A.
What controls are those in the thumbnail?
I really love your narration, presentation.
Where can I buy it? And when does it come out, does anyone know?
Can anyone provide me the link wallpaper he is using on his desktop behind him? And also the link of the wallapaper on his laptop.
So are you saying that if we mod our 2023 Legions with a bit of foam around the fans it could improve the temps?
Agreed! Wonder if anybody will just remove those pads and test without. Because it sounds too easy
Don't. I tried it on my Legion 5 Pro Gen 7. Wasn't better. A bit worse. The latest Legion Pros that still has side exhaust don't have the foam sealed chambers.
How would you compare this to the new ROG Zephyros G14/G16?
I own the last year model and i am happy, that lenovo has not made really big changes in this series, so i dont have to go for the new model.. But it is one of the most beautiful laptops on the market, i am so happy with my Slim 7i 2023 i9 Version. Thanks for the awesome review.
how big is the charger ??
Between this and G16 2024 or maybe rog M16 2023, which one would you pick?
Zephyrus personally. Just because of the screen. Unsure why they didnt use the new Intel Ultra chip in the Legion 7i
M16
M16 easily
Will it run (2) 4K external displays ?
What are those controllers in the still ?
Came here to find this answer
where can i get those wallpapers
This must be the longest advert so far in 2024.
Lenovo seem to be throwing the money around to creators and all I am seeing is promotional overviews.
Does the legion 7 give you options for an Oled screen?
No oled!
@@MrOneAndOnly so they don't have an option?
Nope!
@@MrOneAndOnly thank you for answering my question 🙏🏾💯
Asus G16 zephyrus 2024 had an OLED screen
planning to get one, do you think will they refresh the video cards?
4000 series is it for at least another year
When is the release date for this? I can only find the pro model
This laptop series seems to have hardware issue with the sound card - some cracking/buzzing noise is coming out of the right speaker. It would be good if you could test it before you spend your money.
Can't seem to find this particular model on Lenovo's website. Is it available to buy in Canada...?
Using this site, under Canada there are only the 1600p 100% sRGB model listed. And only 4070 and 14900, available with english windows and keyboard and with french keyboard and english/french windows
Where can I get the dekstop wallpaper guys?
Do you know when the white model will be available?
Will the white one it stain over time?
Can't find this on website..
Awesome review!)) guys could someone help me how to switch off back ports lights ?
Thinking of picking it up.
Man, I love Lonovo's keybords, they feel so good. I have an Ideadpard l340, I think it is from 2019 or 2020, and honestly it has not aged as much as I thought, and they keyboard is, at least for me, one of the best. The only thing that shows this laptop has aged, is the screen, as it is very dark. I wish Lenovo could sponsor me with the new Legion 7i
Love the white. Love the glass track pad. Looking for the 4080 version..but considering the 4070. This is gorgeous.
laltely, review quality been dropping and sounding more like promos.. what do yall think?
It dropped off the face of the earth 5 years ago with them.

Why won’t they just leave the companies to advertisers before they get reviewers to advertise…otherwise they lose the entire purpose of being a reviewer and can’t be taken seriously.
Can you tell me if Lenovo Legion Slim 7 16IRH8 (82Y30021US) has only 16gb soldered RAM or one part is replaceable and I can add more RAM. What is the maximum value?
Legion slim 7i 1 soldered 1 replaceable You check the max ram you can jam in it on the official site, but I'd guess you can jam a 32gb ram init. Just not sure what ram speeds it can accommodate which will limit the available ram sizes you can buy in the market rn.
mostly are up to 64 gb
This is just a massive 12 minute ad.
The most important question: Did they fix the terrible DPC latancy issues in dGPU mode that the slim 7i had? Can you guys still test that?
Huh? I going to buy Slim 7i 2023. Your comment surprised me. Is there something really bad?
@@TishSerg Yes, and it's a metric that isn't talked about enough. I just returned a Slim 5 Gen 9 with a 8845HS and 4060 because it would spike to 8000 when using the dGPU.

Looking for an RTX 4080 Laptop. Should I go for the Legion 7i, Legion 7 pro or go for an Asus Strix Scar 16, or Asus Zephyrus g16? 🤔
O te quedas con el Legion Pro o con el Strix Scar 16 (si quieres sacarle partido a la 4080l. Los otros estarán limitados en TDP. Depende de lo que estés buscando. Potencia, portabilidad o apariencia.
Sad there is not a 14 inch version. It would have been great to have an 14 inch size form factor
They have a 14 inch model already. It came a good 9 months later than the other models. My guess is that they saving those for the 5000 series. My guess is those will be out around march next year
you think lenovo will release a 14 inch gaming laptop this year like they did last year?
I love the Lenovo Legion. I have one but I'm waiting for them to bring a version with the Intel Ultra or better with the second generation that will surely bring many improvements.
Also going from 16gigs to 32gigs will further change performance as well, being that 2023 model had only 16gigs.
Will you make a re-view of the MSI Stealth 16 AI? The new model looks very solid, a specialy with Ultra-9 and rtx4080. Legion Looks also very good, but 32gb of ram it's not enought for me :(
SO good, think this will be my next, thanks.
When will you review the 2024 5ipro/7ipro
does this laptop have an all metal body like last year's slim 7?
Part of the Chassis is aluminum but not sure how much ?
willyou review the asus zephyrus g16 2024?
i have the 7 pro and the fan is just constant 24/7 right out of the box when im hardly doing anything
Switch to iGPU mode
Will that help? Should I keep it in dgpu mode or is hybrid just as good now? @@rajyavardhansingh4491
Waiting the the G14 review
Is there a performance similarly between this model and the new Yoga pro 9i I'm loving this one but if Yoga gives same performance and is cheaper than may be I'll take that.
Nope, it won't. Yoga will do core ultra 9, tops with a much lower TDP, which is good to prevent heavy noise/ extreme heat and work quietly, but halving the processing power. Alas, we have yet to see full software development for the Ultra series and their NPUs. Feel like we should wait one or two gen more to see an stable full deployment of its capacities.
@@DonAdwickthanks. You're right
Screen seemed a little wobbly to me at 10:03 specially when you were typing on the table. Could you enlighten me in this respect. Is it too much?

The performance is good but the design is such a step back from 2022
Plastic :(

where is speaker performance test?
Which is better for Graphics Design and Video Editing zephyrus G16 2024 or Legion 7i 2024
Best looking laptop is an HP Omen Transcend 14 in white ceramic literally in love with it
Speaker quality should've improved though it wasn't talked about
Who else thought in the introduction the box was a picture that was covering something
What about window hello or finger print quick log in feature they took away just so they can put it on the i9? Put me off buying I7 completely.
You make outstanding meaningful reviews ! Excellent job. Been looking for an upgrade and will go for one of these machines..! Thanks 🙏 😅
I received multiple notifications with a "pop" sound while watching a video, but I cannot locate them ;)
Gravitating more to the 2024 Yoga Pro 9i but I really wish it came in this white colour. Don't like the stepped-forward hinge with the 'shelf' at the back.
Gorgeous laptop. It's incredible how a laptop like this is better than the majory of gaming computers (atleast better than my 5800X3D system) however the price is double or triple for these laptops
Bro I'm a student and I would be using the laptop for some 1440p or 1600p gaming, editing, coding and stuff. So the question is is the 8gb vram in the RTX 4070 enough?? And is it future proof?? Someone plz help me.
sure its enough , even 4060 rtx. I got DM with 4050 last year, no complaints
Awaiting Your Actual Review the real one without being sponsored etc
The white colorway is nice, but it seems pretty clear that the 2024 model does not represent a worthwhile upgrade from 2023 from any performance perspective. If you have a 2022 or earlier machine, then definitely worth considering.
When does this laptop come out ?
I found an article on the Lenovo Gaming Community site about this year's CES. It said "The Lenovo Legion 7i (16”, 9) is expected to be available March 2024 starting at $2,099."
I hope they make a 16" without the dedicated 10 key. Right now I am using the Legion 14.5" OLED and I love it but would like to have a 16" model.
Chat did a better job in their review
This is the gaming laptop was a worth waiting for decades!
I have a Legion Y740 and its still the coolest looking laptop in the room(most of the time)
taking off vent for style in modern laptops is a shame. less vent, more thermal limitations.
You didn't mention why legion only offers Intel and not AMD as a option for those that want it...the efficiency on this based on the charts you shared are terrible.....
is an amd cpu much better than intel? would it make sense to get the older gen 8 pro 7 with the amd cpu then?
I can no longer buy into any gaming laptop until the cooling is somehow drastically improved. This and many other air cooled notebooks are just fancy looking jet engines. The fans will kick into overdrive no matter how good they are.
Disappointed that these laptop display panels haven't really improved, in a year when PC displays have jumped significantly.
08:00 Damn! That wallpaper, can you share it??
Is the screen glossy? Is the ram soldered? Is there a intel ultra version? Whats the max ram available? 64? Is there a 14 or 14.5" version?
Does the laptop have windows hello?
only ips is a deal breaker for laptop this tier. Miniled or even OLED should be at least an option.
My legion i5 from 2022 is still kicking , I'm very happy with it, Intel 11th gen, 3060, 1 tb and 16 gb ddr4..and i got it for $ 850..I'm guessing this one will probably cost twice as much and definitely will not be twice as good
Is the Glacier White model going to be available in Canada?
Globally
cinebench 23 scores seems off to me.. 14900hx typically goes more than 30.000 points
The "liquid cooling" didn't cool the cpu and gpu in the legion 9i, it cooled the GPU VRMs, and barely at that. it was a gimmick to the utmost extent of a gimmick.
And when are we seeing the good version of the laptop (with AMD)?
is an amd cpu much better than intel? would it make sense to get the older gen 8 pro 7 with the amd cpu then?
@@SneakyMrSnake in my opinion, yes. AMD is much more efficient, it can give you the same performance as Intel at half of the energy consumption. At peak performance in games they are matched, but again at much more energy consumption which is very important in a laptop, so the amd version can give you lower temps. And in my opinion yes the last gen is a very good option since there is no new generation of graphics card. So if you can get one in a good discount because of this new generation would be best. I'm the proud owner of a legion 7 gen 6 with AMD and have been working without any issue even after having it mining ethereum 24/7 for a year
Doesn’t intel have higher top performance though?
@@IO-_-Ol could be 1% better but at twice the power consumption what's the point?
@@juandanielvallejo3484 I don’t think it’s twice the consumption for 1%. Amd has been doing great for the mid range but intel has been better at the top end. There is literally nothing to argue about here.
I have a dream! That Hardware Canucks will stop using the CPU to test Blender performance on laptops and call the result "real world"!
