    • 1 E L M E R If you clean the fuse box or fuse holders maybe with a dreamed tool, (fuses under hood out front) your dash gauges and lights inside and possibly out will miraculously work. You may have to clean them once a year. You can use little dremmel sanding wheels and small grinders clean them of rust. Take fuses out one at a time, maybe.

    • You did a great job. Not sure if I could do as well. If you ever need to do u-joints. It's best to take the drive shaft off and take it ft o a shop. They do it reasonable and get the correct u-joints and balance shaft too.

    • All vehicles still require changing filters. If only moderately clogged or bogged down with water makes less flow, pump works harder and mileage goes down. If cold, may even freeze up, making very hard to start. So it is still a good idea, to change periodically. Not good for engine, to wait until it won't run.

When l bought my ol Prowler, a 24' camper I told my roommate he would never be homeless again. It brought tears to both of us. He suffers from mental and physical illness and has been in an out of mental hospitals, jail, and living on the streets for over 20 years. This thing has been a God sent. I am so glad to see this sweet lady has found a way to survive with her pets, she deserves to have a place to lay her head down in peace. We all do, lot's of love from me to you. 💕

  • When I started researching van/RV living, I knew a van wasn't going to work full time. I've owned minivans for nearly 30 years, traveled and camped extensively, but those were just point to point trips. And so c class RVs looked like the best fit for me, my dog, my cat and my stuff. And then my bubble was burst at the cost. THEN I saw this video, and it was the first time I saw an extensive remodel on an affordable "vintage" (really nice word for old) RV. It is gorgeous, the process was fascinating, and I also believe I can do it. So I'm saving up for the remodel cost, and plan to start seriously craigslisting in the spring. Thanks so much for sharing!

    • when my travel trailer leaked, I took the opportunity to replace the floor and change up the layout. I didn't know how to fix the leak and found it was leaking from several areas, basically needed new roof. All the work I did on the floor was pointless if there is still leak and rotting roof with mold smell. Ended up selling it uncompleted for 800 bucks. Insurance estimated it at 6500 but since I had started reparing it before contacting them they didn't cover it. Thanks a lot USAA.

  • You did an excellent job of rebuilding Mander! I was really impressed with your great ideas. Its amazing what we are capable of if we take the plunge. We also live full time in an RV and Id like to share a tip. My best tip is to use Museum Gel, it only takes a penny sized piece to affix things to your counters. You pinch out a little ball and roll it in your fingers it then sticks and slowly spreads under whatever you want on your counters. I even use it for small houseplants, baskets and pump bottles. When you want to move it you just pull up the object and roll your fingers on the gel and it rolls right off leaving no damage. We travel with things on our counters without fear of them falling. Museum Gel is available on Amazon and a single jar lasts for a long time and many uses. I hope this tip helps someone out. Another tip is to cut pieces of cardboard and place them between noisy dishes to quiet them on the road. Cheryl

A tip for the those on the road, that are unable to get the museum gel, the RV repair places, as well as home center stores, will always have that door sealing putty on a role, like rolls of tape come. Try it out, it works well, has dual purpose and is easy on the pocketbook.

  • One hint about older vehicles and electrical problems. Like that gas gauge and other gauges that work intermittently. The problem is electrolysis.. easy to fix though. Most connections in older vehicles are either aluminum, or brass, or copper. Dissimilar metals tend to 'eat' one another (electrolysis) thus causing intermittent connections. "CONDUCTIVE GREASE" is the simple solution. When ever you change a tail light bulb, or unplug a connector in your RV to replace something, apply conductive grease. It makes a positive connection, and slows the disintegration of the weaker material. Dodge/Chrysler used a master plug to a circuit board behind your dash cluster... that plug just needs a wiggle off, a good dose of conductive grease and your gauge problems will most likely disappear. Conductive grease is at most auto parts stores, and you will look like a genius asking for some. Relatively cheap too... depending on the size you buy. Good luck with your old Dodge. Conductive grease will work great on your battery connections too.. to assure positive connections and stops corrosion

    • @Chad Conley - Hippies don't believe in Heaven and hell. But no matter what, you shouldn't be giving drugs to your kids. Keep your filthy habit to yourselves. If they want to smoke it when thy grow up, let them make the choice as an adult to be a burnout. Giving your kid a potent drug like THC is child abuse. I bet no one would be bragging if mom and pops shared a tobacco smoke with their kids...whole different story there, right? People who are so brainwashed they think marijuana is actually good for them outside a clinical setting are morons who piss me off.

To see how much you accomplished with little previous experience is both inspirational and a great reminder that sometimes life is about deciding what you want to do and trusting that you are capable of making it happen. How I wish I had found your level of confidence at that age! Thank you for sharing your project. I just loved hearing about all of the skills that you learned, and seeing how well all of your hard work paid off! On separate note, have you considered embracing your creative solution to the hardware holes in your upper cabinets and painting the wood pieces in your aqua accent color? Highlighting them might even add to the fun vintage atmosphere that you've created. Wishing you, Mander, and the kitties all of the best on your adventures! 💚

  • I bought an OLD RV for $1500 and re-did the inside and lived in it (with a few setbacks) for two years while I was homeless. It needed a lot of repairs, (electrical, water tanks, etc.) so be careful what you buy and have it checked out by an RV repair shop! But, it was fun with my Doberman and two cats for company! REMOVE the overhead hanging beds! Mine fell loose and fell on my head while driving and nearly broke my neck!

    • Either that or reinforce the bed, which is also easy. I don't know the details as I'm still learning but I know that it isn't as hard as most people think. She could easily reinforce it for travel while it's compacted with some extra security. Maybe some straps and brackets could do the trick, but this chick knows the schematics best. She also seems really determined and smart so I'm sure she could get it figured out.
