why would anyone want to trim the fibers ? just asking for reference .
Different people like different lengths. For a stark example, if you're 4ft tall, and want your whip to play with the same proportionality as someone who's 6ft tall with a 6ft whip, you might want to cut down your whip to only 4ft long. But if you just measure the whole fiber-bundle together and make one cut across all of them, you will be left with many more fibers that are all the new max length of 4ft. So you'd want to cut off 2ft off the end each individual fiber, to maintain relative fiber lengths with each other, while making the max length 4ft. Hope that makes sense!
As someone who's reading this tonight who is pretty tall (191cm / about 6'3"), I trim the fibers and braid to shorten the whip and prevent any stray whipping of fibers. I frequently use the PixelWhip in clubs. By trimming and braiding, I can keep a very tight flow and not hit anyone who wanders to close while still enjoying the dance.

AGAIN....someone showing us how to cut a whip that's ALREADY BEEN CUT!!! Thumbs down!! This just made it more confusing..
