  • Lou, I am fortunate to have recently found your channel. I have a C350 (w203) & my wife drives an R350 (w251). I've been working from home now for over a year and fixing the cars myself has been a way to save a bunch of money. You've given me the confidence to do things I never figured I'd know how to do. (I've been a Wall Street guy...soft hands, LOL) I'm grateful for all of your useful tips and detailed explanations you provide. I think it's totally interesting and beneficial that you include mentioning the quirks and nuances of these German cars. The way the locks on electrical harnesses and drains work are examples. I especially like the importance you give to staying organized. My teenage sons are watching your videos too, and I'm glad that you set a good example, demonstrating the proper way to approach a complex job like this.

  • terrific vid for us amateur wrenches who want to keep our cars away from the dealers. Been driving high end MBs for over 40 years and always do most stuff myself. Yes you need the right tools, and you need guys like this who can walk you thru the steps. I would opine that this guy has more attention to detail than most of the mechanics at the dealership. MBs depreciate like a stone. The are way over engineered with unnecessary technology gizmos that do break. The running gear is actually not that bad. The engines are ok. I change my oil approx every 5K and use a vacuum pump so i don't need to get underneath the car. My r350 is pushing 200k and runs like a sewing machine. My 320e wagon is at 188k. Same. Had 2 S classes, lost the first one in a divorce deal and exwife couldn't handle the maintenance, but she was able to run it into the ground, and i'm happy it kept her safe. I would say don't buy a used MB unless you can wrench on it yourself. Thanks for this great video.

The shocks that hold it up are “hidden” in the roof of the car and makes the headliner have to come out to replace. But can’t complain because everything else has been great :) new subscriber

  • I appreciate your level of concern, it's refreshing. I followed the same rules back when I was in customer service. I'm not rich, The car is not a status, I had a 123 and 124 years ago, solid cars, wanted hopefully my last car, to another. a 14 W212 M276. with 138k. I'm slowly getting maintenance up to date, with a few repairs, cold start rattle. I used scan tool to observe cam position, left bank erratic both intake and exhaust, so I'll be replacing secondary cam chain tensioners. 7/13 I assume it has the check valves. But, it has no money lights on, drives flawlessly, but. Scan data shows codes for missing messages with RFK at Head unit and Ignition Switch Module, STORED. If I clear these they come right back on restart. I guessed a connection on CAN network. Another person stated RFK, ISM, SCM, TCM, and DME with loose pins, or broken solder joints in all these modules, that only the RFK is sensitive enough to set codes, but those others are about to fail they're just not bad enough to set a code. Kinda goes against my experience and logic, but I'm not ruling out till enough evidence refutes claims. I assumed a loose connection or green crusties on a CAN line connector or Bus. Thoughts? Not looking for a "Silver Bullet" just your experience with similar concerns.

After wards a couple of things happened. The wipers stopped working, thanks you solved that problem with this video! I tried to open my rear hatch. It unlocked fine but would not lift! I manually opened it and pushed all the proper buttons and it would not close. I closed it and it locked fine. I prefer to do work myself but I realize there are somethings I cannot do. Can I repair this myself? Thank you so much. I live in Oklahoma so good Mercedes mechanics are no easy to find. I really appreciate your help, tips and your integrity! • Benz-Tech Lou Thanks Lou. Is there a way I can test this? What is the difference between the pump and the module? BTW, I love your SERVICE philosophy! I've always tried to do the same! I would love to work but I have macular degeneration and have lost a lot of my eyesight, especially my detail sight. I just replaced the air ride struts on my front end, so I can do things. It just takes me longer and I have to pay extra attention. I love doing things myself when I can. I finally found the left gate pump! It's on the left side. Thanks again!

    • Ebay, buy a set of WIS discs or a download (I prefer discs). Its the workshop information we use in the dealer and it also comes with epc which is our parts catalog. That will help with working on these. Appreciate you reaching out!

  • How we can check the fluid level on the transmission on r350

    @alikhannarkhan5071@alikhannarkhan50713 жыл бұрын
    • Checking the fluid is not an easy process if you do not have a scanner, trans filler or rack. Its a somewhat tedious process. There are ways to accomplish this but there is no dipstick. In short you need to overfill trans and then let it drip out to a very fine drip at a specific temperature based on your trans pan and options.

She was trying to be Special, I guess due to the Cancer and it will be my last car. It’s Beautiful. It just needs some TLC and a few Flaws fixed.

    • @@MasterTechLou Listen friend, I got friends of mines that shaved their heads to have the bald look,but is not for everyone. You nailed friend. The car situation is difficult. My sister owns a mb r350 4matic 2011,in a strike of brightness she placed a 5 gallons of paint in the back of the vehicle. Needles to say it spilled and she went to the car wash and hose it off. The SMS is in the back and so is the fuse box. We purchased the parts but our Mechanic is unable to flash it. Everything works with the exception of the fuel gauge. I'm just wondering why everything is working if he never flashed? To top it,she already paid 500.00 to the guy. Same guy I took my c230 kompressor because a braking problem and never was fixed. I don't know what to think. Thanks for your response and no disrespect intended. Blessings to you and your family in this new year 2021.
