I love that this man rebelled even if it meant he was not going to be forking in the big bucks. I am listening to his advice more closely after I found out. I love our animal friends and am sort of a folk hero here in Puerto Rico. In Hurricane Hortense (extreme rain and flooding) I swam to the local dog pound after leaving my car on a bridge and saved the lives of over 300 animals trapped by the flood waters there. Most were already swimming in 3-4 feet of water in their cages when I rescued them. My 19 yrold son went with me, no one else was there except a vet and a vet technician. One of my favorite days beside the day I gave birth and the two days I saved two human lives. Long after "Indiana Joan" which is what my son used to call me has disappeared in time and I have become an old 65 year old lady I think back with a lot of satisfaction on the times I saw danger and injustice and it called me to action above and beyond my own safety and wellbeing. God bless you Doc for your selflessness. 😇🥰😇🥰
❤️
Thats a beautiful story, thank you for sharing it. You are an amazing & brave woman at 65 yrs young. Namaste💙🌹
My hat OFF to YOU ❗️
That is wonderful, but what was the veterinarian and the technician doing, when you arrived? Were they standing around, doing nothing and letting the animals drown in their cages? I cannot believe or imagine two people who are in professions regarding caring for animals, ignoring the plight of animals trapped and drowning in cages.
Wow, you are a hero! God bless you! That’s an amazing story!
I quit everything depressing in my life when I gave all my efforts to helping animals
This man is a angel.
The problem with over cooking the meat is that it kills the amino acids and vitamins. Swiss chard contains a lot of oxalates, so be careful as to how much and how frequently you give it as it can cause stones. Bok choy is a better choice. Brown rice also contains arsenic, so you have to wash it several times before cooking it in a lot of water. Real olive oil is also better than sunflower oil. You can find sufficient calcium in vegetables. Never give calcium carbonate. Give calcium citrate if necessary.
I've been making this for my dogs for years. I use chicken thighs or ground turkey, sweet potatoes or carrots and frozen spinach or peas. I also crack eggs into it! I literally make this a one pot meal, like a giant stew. No need for multiple pans. Then I use gallon size freezer bags to store it!!
I do like this, however I have recently heard that pulses such as peas, lentils, and white potatoes need to be avoided in dog foods.
Dr. I have a small dog, a chihuahua. Could I make this recipe and give her half cup a day, or do I have to change measurements of everything? I realize this is an older video, but I hope you see this comment. I just got her 6 months ago, and she just turned 3 years old. I want to feed her what is best for her health.
@@coleneritchie5625 you can use the same recipe. It will just last you longer. My dog is half the size of Tula, this will last a little over 2weeks. I usually freeze half right away and use that later
@@SimpleLife365 actually those items are all fine as long as your recipe is 50% meat the problem arises when petfood company's count peas and legumes towards the protein count since those items are to low in certain Amino Acids it creates a imbalance that over time will lead to big problems .
I'm no vet, but I am a dude, and I'm a huge supporter of cooking and feeding your dog whole and fresh food. I only do it a few times a week at most as I don't even eat this good myself lol, but there is absolutely a correlation with health issues and just feeding dry kibble... Give your pup some real food! Imagine eating cereal your whole life...
Me2😂😂😂 I feed my dog steak, range free eggs. I eat chicken drumsticks at discount prices😂😂😂.
Yup, my dog eats better than me too❤😂
So hard to find a vet that commits to a homemade nutritionally balanced meal.... been looking for something like this for 4 years with actual calcium and minerals supplements. Thank you!🤗🐶🐾
Thanks for making this so accessible to people who want better than commercial dog food but don't want to risk nutritional deficiencies.
My sister bred dogs & has 3 dogs of her own. She cooks up her own dog food like this & has done it for 3 decades. Her dogs live longer than average. This video is a Keeper for when I get a dog.
Could you share your sister’s recipe?
Yes please 🙏
Why not just follow your sisters recipe?
I use silicone muffin tins to portion out and freeze my pomeranian's homemade food (been making his food and snacks since he was a baby) The frozen "muffins" are super easy to pop out for storing in a freezer bag.
I have an elderly pom and am planning on making this. Thanks for the muffin suggestion.
Brilliant idea w/ the silicone muffin time....I'd been putting it into snack baggies and freezing, noe I can just put them all in a 1 gallon baggie, drrr why didn't t i think of this 2 years ago....thank you so much.
What veg do you use? I can't find organic Swiss Chard in my local grocery stores.
@@sluk313 Thank you! I have those on hand. Thank you for answering my question.
You can use many different veggies when preparing your dogs meals. I switch out the meats and veggies often to give my dogs variety but broccoli, greenbeans, squash, spinach, zucchini, egg plant, asparagus, pumpkin, kale, cauliflower just to name a few . I even throw in some berries/fruit. I like the muffin pan idea especially for little dogs. I could have used that idea many years ago with my Bichon. I have 3 beagles now. I just cook enough food for a week then store in fridge.
I do chicken thighs in the pressure cooker, sweet potatoes, mixed veggies and rice. My dogs have been eating this for almost 18 months and at ages 13 and 11 they are healthy and vibrant. We also noticed that the inflammation from arthritis has decreased a ton. These are both larger dogs, 85 and 90 lbs so to see how this diet has helped them in their older age makes me happy. I only wish I did this much sooner in their lives.
You can also feed them raw diet its very beneficial for their skin.
Raw diet is the most beneficial. Mostly muscle meats, secreting organs, eggs, and IF you feed raw veggies, it needs to be blended and/or fermented. While dogs bodies are similar to humans, their bodies don't process, store, utilize, etc like our bodies so they won't actually get the benefits like we do, from majority of all the additions. I LOVE this vet, and he means well. I'm not discounting his beliefs in the benefits or methods because I'm here often. BUT in the wild, a dog would eat what it hunted down... raw... Check out Paws of Prey for a better understanding.
@@sussybaka551 Absolutely agree with you
Hi Linda do you supplement any other vitamin in this?
@@marcelaeslao HI Marcela, they get their chewy vitamins and joint supplements separately, for them they are treats :)
I started making my Lhasa mix homemade food after he started having seizures weekly. After making his food, his seizures decreased to about one or two a year. He just passed away at 19 years old. I’m convinced he never would have lived that long on commercial food. We also didn’t give him heartworm preventative treatment and flea control was done holistically.
Dr Jones I found you a few months ago and I am so grateful to you for doing what you do. Thank you so much for bringing a new perspective to dog health care. As a former vet tech surgical assistant I saw a lot of things that left me scratching my head and made me distrustful of a lot of the things that go on at vet hospitals. You are a breath of fresh air and I recommend that all of my puppy adopters watch your channel. In fact I did a video on vaccinations and suggested to everyone that they visit your channel! Keep up the amazing and much needed work that you do.
Yes, Dr Jones is the best vet ever !!
I love his channel, his videos have been very informative. I would love to see your video on pet vaccinations, how can I link to it?
Karen Becker is excellent as well.

Would cod liver oil be good to use instead of sunflower due to the vitamin d and a?
I have been making my dogs' food for almost 2 years. What a difference this has made in their health. I've made several mistakes though ; too much liver ( black poop ) too much live is dangerous-you don't need much and too much Tumeric ( yellow poop.) oops ! Ok, so I believe Dr Jones has got it covered and I'll be following his advice. So proud and honored to have come across his KZhead channel and love his free book. Thank you Dr Jones You are the Very Best!
yellow poop is the worst!
Great advice about the liver and turmeric. Thanks 🙏
I pray to God to give you a lot of beautiful days and you know God loves us so much,So where are you originally from? I am David originally from Spain but currently living in Texas now..
I made this food and let me tell u its so rewarding to see my dog LOVING her food. She loves ppl food so I stopped letting her have that and she got depressed.. this is super exciting to see her enjoy her meal. Thank u so much for sharing this video. It truly warms my heart .
Thank you Dr Jones for all that you do for our animals. Please don't stop. Thousands of people(including myself) look to you for advice on how we can best take care of our pets affordably and without being pressured into needlessly expensive procedures and recommendations by those that care more about money than helping our animals.
I love how the dog keeps inching closer and closer. So cute!
I have made homemade dog food for years, hit and miss ingredients. So grateful for this informative recipe and guidance. Off to the store, then cooking this. Thank you over and over…
Pretty good recipe some things I like to add to my dogs food are diatomaceous earth, spirulina, phytoplankton, milk thistle, turmeric, saurkrout, mushrooms, apple cider vinegar, honey. herbs, cinomin and a freeze dried mix of glands and organs. Not all at once of course I switch it up.
I make a similar dog food, but instead of rice I use the same amount of quinoa and my dogs love it. I have one that doesn’t like brown rice so I switched to quinoa and they all seem to love it more. The overall health of my dogs has improved so much over the past three years since they started eating my homemade food.
I use oatmeal.
Quinoa is better for dogs
Oatmeal is good also
My 3 shih tzu likes quinoa too. With chicken, chopped kale, pumpkin and blueberries
My 15 year old dog has no teeth so I mix quinoa and broken rice to her meals. She loves rice lol.
I have been making homemade dog food with rice, baked sweet potatoes, steamed green beans or carrots and peas and chicken. My Son’s dog loves it.
Probably missing the fats?
My own dogs and my rescues all eat raw eggs incl shell. They incl veg, brown rice, lentils, whole sardines and liver. They love their eggs. None of my dogs have treats and they all have great appetites. It’s so satisfying to watch them eat healthy food and enjoy it.
Excited to make this! You said the calcium is basically ground up eggshells. Have you considered just throwing the eggs whole into a blender and blending them up? Seems like a waste to throw away the eggshells and they buy powdered eggshells and add them back in.
Love your videos and all the great tips. Two years ago I adopted what I was told was a six year old Pomeranian. Well, he wasn't neutered, house trained, or vaccinated. He had ten rotten teeth, and gross crusts in the corners ofboth eyes. After his teeth cleaning and extractions, and feeding him a healthy diet he has gained gained five pounds, and is not over weight at 19lbs. His poop looks normal and has little odor, before it was a thin as my little finger, and looked like a stick of chalk. His eyes are bright, no crusts, but sadly he is totally blind, the vet said he is at least ten years old, probably more, I often feed him wild salmon, brown rice, eggs and veggies, and Ezekiel flourless sprouted bread toasted which he loves, he now looks and acts like a totally different dog. Although this free dog, has now cost well over $2000.00 in vet bills so far, and needs another $2000.00 worth of dental extractions. He'd better live at least another six years to make up for it. That's the least he could do! LOL He is a mini-German Spitz, not a Pomeranian. He went from about to be euthanized to being a happy healthy animal, that everyone makes a fuss of, and will likely enjoy many more years of being pampered. Thank you so much for the recipe, and mentioning about all the added supplements, I am going to add it to Schatzi's menu. No doubt he'll be doing a lot more pirouettes when demanding his dinner!
Can't wait to make this recipe for my dogs, they're all rescues. I have been making your other recipes and my dogs love it. I want to tell you that I had to take one of my dogs to the Veterinarian for a check-up and she asked me what I was feeding my dog and I told her I feed her a homemade dog food. She said that I should be feeding my dogs a commercial dog food because homemade dog foods don't have all the nutrients the dog needs. I wasn't going to get into a debate with this Veterinarian. Thank you so much Dr Jones for sharing this recipe. Thank you for all you do for animals❤
@MRSCMB89 Interesting, isn't it how closed minded some can be. Of course any layperson couldn't possibly know what she was doing.🙄
thank you for rescuing. i also rescue danes, as for your vet , so many are clueless , the amount of time they spend in vet school on nutrition is like 15 min, and so many of them push the top 4 companies. they really need to be more educated, good for you for homecooking. blessings.
@@greatdanerescuemom1 can I ask you a question please? I am in the midst of filling out an application for rescue of a 'Special Needs' Dane. She's had cancer. About the Rescues; do they require entry into your home? Or do they just want eyes on for yard, fencing, etc. Do they do surprise visits? I am a very private person and barely let repairmen in. Then I watch them the whole time. Thanks in advance.
@@spicencens7725 it depends on the rescue. i do a home inspection before ANY dog gets adopted. I dont go into bedrooms, just check for fencing and a secure home, not one falling down or such, and i tell them i can check on the dogs thru out its ife. i stay in touch with all my people, just becasue i care about the dogs. what state are you in? there are some really great rescues and some to stay far away from. it really depends on the rescue. if i can help let me know. and THANK YOU for going for a special needs dane. those and the seniors always get overlooked. blessings

I have 9 rescue cats. My friend sent me one of your videos last week. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. I was stressed on going back to vet for $300 + vet bills. Panacur for worms tip really helped me out with my fur babies. It's $42 bucks a pop at vets office. Smh . You actually care about the critters/folks over the all mighty dollar . I salute you🫡
I stopped feeding my dogs with dog food. Brown rice, egg, pumpkin, turmeric, fish oil or omega supplement, home cooked meat, chicken breast or liver and lean meat pork. My 10 yr old and 8 yr old aspens loved it. Their fur is shinier and they become more vigorous. My 10 yr old eye sight had improved too.❤
What do you use for fish oil?
My dogs been much healthier and happier since I started cooking her food. She eats a mix of chicken, eggs, rice, sweet potatoes, reg potatoes & frozen mixed veggies. All cooked and combined it looks kinda like fried rice w chicken. She loves it. Before cooking for her she had crazy, crazy allergies. Now? Nope.
Do you supplement her food with vitamins, minerals, and oils? If so how do you figure out what and how much your dog needs?
Organ meats are essential- but only organic. I feed my 16 year old Long Hair Mini Dachshund RAW organic chicken liver and RAW organic chicken hearts along with a homemade Organic : COOKED turkey, carrot, celery, eggs, Olive oil, omega 3 oil and an organic probiotic which has vitamins for an older dog. She is still a very playful pup and has LOTS of energy🥰❣️
Do you have more details you can share, of you have time? Just a more detailed instruction/ products. My older baby is breaking my damn heart....
I have a 16.5 year old mini as well who has pancreatitis. It's been a challenge to get her to eat lately so am trying to find new recipes for her other than the prescription food which she doesn't care for.
Paws of Prey is a great raw feeding channel with a ton of info! It helped me transition my puppy and she’s now on a balanced raw diet. If you’re afraid to DIY the meals, you can buy a good quality commercial raw grind (I use BJ’s Raw but have heard A+ and Viva are great as well! Primal and Ziwi Peak also have some great freeze dried raw if you don’t want to go fully raw)
I never feed raw meat to my dogs, too high probability of having parasites. The only raw thing I feed is the wild salmon. It should be frozen first, then I salt it lightly and leave in the fridge for a day. Then I and my dogs eat it. It's great for the skin and coat.
@@kristaanne2144 ziwipeak is fabulous
My great grandfather used to feed his horses raw eggs, so that their coat was healthy and shiney. I read a vet medicinal book from the 1800s. It recommended feeding plow horses hemp/Marijuana in good size portions (don't remember the portions vs hay). One of the big benefits that was attributed to this mix was that the horses were happy plowing in circles all day. Happy horses are better workers, same as happy people. A good work environment makes for happy workers.
Sick. Drugging animals so they can do slave labor. Not cool Joel no matter how you spin it.
Just a note.. Hemp is not marijuana. The same family of plants.. But not the same "medicinal"side effects..😊.
I did Volunter work for the National Horse Show and they say this as well. Thank you for sharing.
LMAO
Food aside. Your dog is an angel to sit so patiently watching this stuff being made!
I love this. I have a Saint Bernard and another 95 pound German Shepherd Lab mix so I might just have to supplement this as a meal a couple times a week. But it’s got to help. I always try to give them fresh organ meats a couple times weekly as is but this was so informative. Finding a good dog food feels impossible. Those marketed are crazy expensive!!
I am not a dog owner but I have 2 grand dogs and will past on this very valuable information to my daughter. She has recently making her 2 dogs homemade food. But I think she's missing important ingredients. So I thank you for providing such important advice. Hope she'll subscrbe.
Thank you for your homemade dog food ideas. I have been making my own dog food for over a year now, after two of my dogs died from eating commercial dog food. I feed them three meals a day, small portions, starting with organic ground beef over quinoa, then sardines with brown rice, and finally ground pork with peas and carrots. I'll be adding flax, calcium and eggs after watching your video. Thank you so much! Krista
Hi there, how do you know they died from the food you have been giving them x
@@oscarcat1231 Dry commercial food is.prone to alphatoxicosis a toxic fungi found in many vet approved dry foods and wet foods contain toxins..look it up..cheers
Thanks Dr. Jones! I feel so vindicated! I just made my two Chihuahuas some homemade dog food…With: cooked lean hamburger, mixed in 6 eggs, One and a half cup cooked brown rice, finely ground clean eggshells, ground flax seed, hemp seed hearts, cooked carrots, frozen fresh kale, avocado oil. The carrots were nearly done steaming and I added the kale and I put them in the blender briefly. My girls don’t like to see those vegetables, but it taste good. Then I tossed all of the ingredients together in a big bowl, and then I divided it into portions . Placing them into, freezer bags for their daily meal . This actually helped me feed my little Phoebee , who had 3 teeth extracted , one with stitches, and dental cleaning. Phoebee will not open her mouth for me, even to get in an antibiotic or pain pill. So…she did suffer last night, plus she would not drink or eat, but this morning I gave her plastic medicine dispenser full of water every hour about 3, and gave her a small bit of honey as an antibiotic. They did give her a shot , but so happy to do it naturally. Her daughter Dottie liked the new food also, and I know they will grow to love it.
Avocado is deadly to dogs, did you put avocado oil in your homemade dog food or is it a typo error?
Yeah, avocado is deadly. I give my large dog broccoli and cauliflower before the main course. He eats them from my hand, but if I put them in his bowl he ignores the vegies and goes for the meat.
Doc. Could you please include information on a homemade diet for cats please, thanks.
Yes. I only have one dog (fat chihuahua) and a *few* cats. They will not stand for the dog to have special food and not them. This works both ways. 😸🐶

Dr. Jones! Great video as always! I’m doing what you’ve advised from years ago on the C word. Dandelion root has shrunk her jowls with no nodules under her throat. I’d have to literally make a list of how holistic Trudyloo’s body is and she feels great! The Boswellia Serrata and Organic Cucumin we start today. You’d not believe my cabinets! All love! Going slow watching her body change for the good. We’ve beaten 6 months to be going on 10 months and refuse to give up, give in and will go to Panacur if necessary. I’m at the point wondering if my vet diagnosed her right because with all your help, nodules gone and Jowls are 75% less. If anyone needs help with the crappie diagnosis of lymphoma, I’m more than happy to give you Trudyloo’s diet, the time of day as it’s regulated big time. If it wasn’t for Dr. Jones, I know I’d be saying a heart breaking comment here. Please pray for my best friend Trudyloo? We would be so unbelievably grateful to all and any prayers! It’s so amazing how much love our pets give us. I’m a realistic person mind you but you’d have to see how my Trudy is and has come so far. As I said. I will not give up on her. True!
Have been enjoying your videos! I'm a canner for everything including dog food! I like to pressure can different meats for dog food and he loves them! In fact.. he gets SO excited when he sees a mason jar come out a meal time.. lol. I include in my mixes organ meats as well. We are also hunters so that would include any venison.. which he loves! I even do pork which is his favourite. We tried a raw food diet with him as a pup which he did not take to.. so then I moved to trying our older freezer meat in a crock pot and it was the best thing I could've done for him! When I make him the canned food I mostly use (very little) sweet potato, oatmeal, carrots, peas, white rice, and/or blueberries. Now I want to try chard.. since I do grow it in my backyard. We have a runt of two large mountain breed dogs which are normally 80-120lbs..but he is only 65lbs thick! We do not know what type of abuse he suffered as a pup.. but we rescued his fuzzybutt.. he's anatolian shep & meremma.
Great idea, canning dog food. 🙂❤️.
I crush the eggshells up for added calcium but my dog eats raw chicken also. I add a dollop of plain yogurt and blueberries on top too. My dog gets so excited over her homemade meals, She loves her raw food too. It makes such a notable physical difference when you feed them good food. ❤️
No to the dairy. It's terrible for them. They are not people. Blueberries should not be many and must be organic.
Love this one. Now just have to figure out my bull mastiff.
This channel is absolute gold thank you.
Straight up you are awesome 👏🏼
You could easily make a pretty awesome dinner for your family with the same ingredients minus the supplements, and have perfect well-balanced meal for everyone in the house! You can make a meatloaf with the ground beef and have the vegetable on the side with rice as another side. I say meatloaf because you need an egg to make a meatloaf. The entire evolution of a dog a family dog is it loves the food that people cook. That's the whole reason why they're around! And we get the benefits of love and protection
Except your dog shouldn’t be eating rice regularly. It’s filler and has been linked to cancer in dogs.
@@OhYaSure I agree. I think with anything if it's just the same food over and over and over again it can't be good. The nutritional needs of dogs really aren't that different from people.
That's a really good point... They like the food we cook!
So One of my two dogs have chronic dry eyes/high infection problems. Eyedrops help and i’ve been giving her green tea and honey and her water bowl. The second of the two dogs, a big male pug, has food intolerances. He also has a yeast imbalance, which smells like corn chips! Lol So my son purchased A dry dog food with limited ingredients hydrolyzed. Our Male pug has been on that food for three months with very little improvement. Dry commercial dog food is not the answer!! We have almost all these ingredients you mentioned above already on hand so we are going to make up this recipe in your video and try this for a few months! I bet this will be the answer to most if not all, of his health issues!! Thank you doctor for posting this video we are getting right on this food first thing tomorrow morning and I will report back later on how well this new diet is working for him! We’re pretty excited about this new diet! Geez, I can remember as a kid we had dogs friends other neighbors and relatives had dogs or dogs were never sick or had all of these issues dogs have today. I’m talking 50 years ago! But there’s so much so many chemicals and just bad stuff and fillers in these dog foods, even canned dog food look at the massive recalls! This commercial dog food and cat foods are not healthy for our pets any longer it’s not 50 years ago anymore any pet companies are more about making money than they are keeping our dogs healthy! This must be the reason why we’re starting to see “human grade” dog foods available. Also we have to realize that you just can’t give your dog food off your plate because they need balanced ingredients in their food and that’s why your video up there so important for people to understand don’t just throw your dog table scraps! Lol dogs need vitamins and a balanced meal that’s provided in the video of homemade dog food. Wow, great video!
I would love his book
This is sooo helpful. Thank you!
I have been feeding my bulldog your turkey homemade recipe from years ago. He had been having horrible skin issues and interdigital cyst. In the few weeks he’s been eating your recipe ( he absolutely loves btw) his dry skin stopped flaking, no more yeasty smell, hair stopped falling out. All around happier pup. We still are dealing with the interdigital cyst but that is a whole war in itself. I am gonna try this beef recipe and see if the turkey could be a trigger for him. Thanks Dr. Jones for loving all our babies like you do.
Are you still having problems with interdigital cysts? Did you see his 'Excessive Paw Licking' episode? He recommends Olive Leaf Extract capsules (as a natural antibiotic) 1-2mg per lb 2Xday for 10-14 days and soak 2Xday in Chlorhexidine OR Black Tea OR... A mixture of 1 cup nettle or green tea, 2 Tbs each melted coconut oil & Apple Cider vinegar, 10 drops of lavender essential oil.

Can you do a video on feeding cooked vs raw food. Would love to know the pros and cons of either
I lightly cook. Raw can technically be a bit better but also comes with some risks that I am not willing to take. See Dr. Karen Beckers site- and The Forever Dog for free recipes. I make all homemade and he loves it. Soft Boiled eggs are one key ingredient. They actually yield more nutrition than even a raw egg according to the research she shares in the book. Eggs must be PASTURED.
Raw is better, but it must be fresh, human grade, and stored and handled correctly. I've been raw feeding for over 40 years and my diet is based on 70% muscle meat (all varieties of meat, oily fish and eggs) 10% offal (half of this being ox liver or kidney) 10% edible bone - poultry, rabbit, etc, soft bones that can be chewed up easily and digested. (We also give recreational bones ((large meaty bones for chewing)) 10% plant matter - cooked rice/pasta/oats, a variety of vegetables, fruit, berries, nuts. I add dried ginger spice, Sunflower seeds, kelp and brewers yeast, to shore up any vitamins & mineral deficiencies. You can add coconut oil, olive oil, Greek yoghurt, flax, hemp, bone broth, etc. Variety is the key to successful raw feeding. Depending on your dogs fat requirements, adjust as needed. My own dogs are large breed, working hunters, extremely active, so I feed up to 25% fat. Puppies need a lot more fat than adults. And elderly, desexed, overweight dogs need much, much less fat, but they do need some.
@@smackpointgsps1476 Thanks for sharing- great info. I brought him a meaty large bone and he chewed on it for 20 minutes then never touched it again. I also add magnesium, and a ground up whole egg shell for calcium. Do you add any salt? I know that dogs do need some daily...but not much. Which meats or other things are good for fat? I am reading The Forever Dog (Dr. Karen Becker.) She states that the ratio for a dog is 44 Protein, 52% FAT and 4% carbs. Is there a brand of Brewers Yeast that you like?
@@UTAH100 there are many ratios that people recommend, but I have found the one I am using works best for my dogs. It replicates whole prey, which I am also feeding. As with any diet, it's what works best for the individual. For fat, free range pork fat is good, as it contains more vit D, but I feed all varieties of fat, as it comes, attached to meat.
@@smackpointgsps1476 Thank you.
Am addicted to your channel ! Thank you soo much !!!!
Thank you, Doctor . You are the best!
My recipe is almost tge same as this one. Made me feel great to know. I addchicken livers and turkey. Plus I grind up 1/2 egg shell per meal to increase protein, spinach and brussel sprouts and shredded carrots, because my dog loves them
I'd really like to see more recipes specifically for toy sized chihuahuas please 😊

Having taken over care of a sweet girl, the much loved small sized ''ChiuhWeenie'' the baby of my Precious granddaughter, (who passed away unexpectedly), I am wanting to feed her a small variety of foods I can prepare myself, so I will know exactly what she is eating. Any other recipes will be greatly appreciated! I am looking forward to implementing your expertise in her food bowl! Thank you for being such a caring, amazing❤ VET!

I rescued a 5 yr old Queensland Red/Merl Heeler!!! I’ve had her 2 months. Poor thing would sneak up on kibble. Bowl stayed full all day . Was constipated. She literally knocks me down at feeding time now. Can barely make her sit so excited. Beautiful coat , prancing around like a puppy. Amazing diet change has done , a changed animal. Thank you sir for all you do❤
I notice my senior dog has more peep in his step too. Wow is your Heeler polite or pushy? I like the breed but the that dog breed was bred to keep things in line that’s funny. The don’t have the name Heeler for nothing. Must be a joy to your family! Lol 😂
@@aliciathompson7721 Hello 👋 Omgosh stubborn is more like it. I walk her four times a day one good long workout after her first potty walk , beautiful animals so intelligent, best dog I’ve ever had turned out to be such a loyal, loving, smart girl stubborn one, but will do what you say eventually lol she’s a doll she spoiled beyond belief. She rescued me more like it changed my life. If you have the time to train and spend with your dog, they are the best ever. I’m retired now, so that’s why I got a dog best bread I’ve ever had smartest dog ever. Good luck if you get one ,blessings to you and yours ❤️✌️🐾🐕

Very helpful. Thanks for the reception. 👏🇨🇦
Thanks for the information!
so funny you posted this! I was just talking tonight about swapping my dogs' canned food out for homemade food! Thanks for this! :)
See Dr. Karen Becker for free recipes on her site. Read The Forever Dog.
The healthy fat would have been the beef fat. Your videos are always very helpful. Please consider animal fat that’s naturally occurring in their protein vs a highly processed flower oil
I was thinking the same thing. In the wild they'd be eating the animal fat, not seed oils.
And just grind up the egg shells back in opposed to buying the powder.
I believe that while raw animal fat is perfectly fine for dogs, cooked fat can actually be unhealthy and cause things like pancreatitus.
No precessed oils, same with humans. Only eat Olive oil, avocado oil or coconut oil. All other oils cause inflammation.
I would so love to get a copy of Dr. S book
Love this channel love this veterinarian ❤ I learn more here than I am getting from my own vet !!!
Thank you! I have been doing this for my dog for the last year and he's healthier than ever. I got a few extra tips from this video and I will be incorporating them next batch!
I love your videos! This is wonderful and will try with my 3 dogs. My oldest dog, Norman, a lab mix has benefitted from your videos on ear problems. Can’t wait to try this diet for my fur babies; Lab mix, Corgi, and Bernese Mountain dog. Thank you.
Thank you for your videos
Im thrilled! Your took my suggestion for a youtube Ha! Love it! I feed only raw to my 21 year cat!~. Best Medicine E V E R. !!!!
My oldest black cat is the same age and doing great. Every year now I just keep saying, keep going kitty. Another birthday rolls around in April. My vet says my kitty is the oldest living American short haired black cat she has ever seen. Average lifespan is 14 years. All in how you treat your pet.
Sally, do you mind sharing you raw meal recipe for you cat?
