  • People are okay with having animals be bred and fed in a 1x1 case for the sole purpose of being slaughtered and served in their wednesday's big mac, but screech when well cared for animals sometimes die from ACCIDENTS for the progress of science and the future of humanity. Truly nonsensical.

  • During last night’s session I was wondering how you train the animals to know where a safe space is. So much of working with animals is how to overcome the language barrier. We depend upon language to communicate. This excites me to see this dedication. The benefits will greatly outweigh the costs. We need to learn to communicate with them. • the rich will have more implants, and the poor will get fewer. The rich will get cloud computing, and the poor will have their local ChatGPT 12. Everyone will have to use it just like today you have to own a smartphone. So, the money bags are going to grab more computing power and the difference between them and the poor will get even worse than nowadays. Just imagine Einstein and Einstein 2.0. Soon people are gonna be walking playing videogames on their pc that is in their home while getting the game transmitted straight to the eye with some kind of technical lens while eating some popcorn and watching a movie at the same time somehow

    @TheGuyThatPlaysKoG@TheGuyThatPlaysKoG Жыл бұрын
    • '' the game transmitted straight to the eye with some kind of technical lens'' Did you mean some physical lens or some visual signal streaming directly into my brain? I have spent most of my life in front of screens, and my eyes are in bad condition, and one day I had to stop gaming because of the dry eye syndrome and tiredness, and pain in my eyes. I would love to lie on my sofa and close my eyes, relax, turn off my motor functions and get full immersion including tactile signals (touch) and brain keyboard without real physical buttons. Actually, I would just want to move, and the implant would interpret my intentions as the movements in the game. But most of all I am dreaming about a Japanese brothel with quantum ping-less connection, and total immersion with all the liquids and breath, and standing hair.

  • In the Reuters article where the FUD is coming from, it claims 1500 animals were essentially thrown into a blender in the top paragraph of the article. (reported by alleged former and current employees) Later down the article it talks about 86 animals and 2 monkeys. Based on the scale of what's shown in this video, it looks like Reuters has no desire for credibility and just wanted to profit off of some clickbait. Everything that lives will eventually pass away, but I dont see the capacity for 1500 animals here. It's so disappointing to see a puff piece echoing anonymous whistleblowers at maximum volume. Unfortunately the federal investigation results will not cause Reuters to admit the 1500 number was wildly wrong, none of Elon's companies seem to litigate FUD as hard as I want them to. In a few months, I'll be looking for the results of the investigation. For now, I can only be upset at how the old media is trying their hardest to suppress this important research. To any real Neuralink employees: Thanks for your commitment to ethical research! I watched the whole show & tell

  • Interesting how many less views this video has. Didn’t some pigs die from the implant? It’s always a good sign to see a promotional video for how they treat their lab animals. Nothing to hide there right. Honestly when you find out that the monkeys aren’t actually typing and they are directing a mouse to a light up letter, it’s seems more like they just suck on a food tube while moving the cursor over and over with no real goal. Are they being taught anything as a goal or just mouse moving for eternity? Also how will you figure out how to regain functions using the chip with out breaking spines and severing nerves of animals? It seems like the only logical next step besides very risky human experimentation. Progress shouldn’t be measured in bodies. Please do your best to treat the animals and people well while also being careful for the future of humans.

    • Right now they are using the implants in the animals to collect data about how the brain works and how it transmits signals and data through the nervous system. The end goal is to be able to use this data in the finished product to be able to stop something like a seizure from happening in someone. It could potentially help paralyzed people walk again or cure people who have suffered strokes. I have no idea if this is even possible but that is what Neuralink is trying to find out. They are charting a roadmap for how the inner workings of the brain operate. Its exciting.

  • Ok but if you were actually committed to animal care and not just marketing then why would you move into a 'blacksite' facility with no oversight when all the dead monkey shit got revealed thanks to originally using a facility with public funding + a lawsuit that meant that information had to go public. If I was trying to hide what I was doing in the most obvious way possible thats what I would do, and now the only proof that you're not being abusive to animals is you getting to choose what we can see.

  • Animal welfare is great but doesn't answer the ethical and moral question of using their bodies against their will. If you wouldn't put yourself through the same experiments you subject the animals to, you have no right to force someone defenseless to do so. The fact that current science can't see or respect animal rights is a disgrace and will be looked back on the same light as slavery. Have some conscience and leave those who can't speak for themselves alone.

Just be honest and say you do it for progress, don't give us this "we care about animals" PR bullshit. I'm still on the fence regarding Neuralink and if I were an emotionally driven person this sort of stuff would make me more suspicious, not less. Don't lie to us about the animals having agency.

    • It's possible to both do it for progress and also care for the animals. I grew up on a ranch and did a lot of ranch work to care for animals I later slaughtered. Just because I slaughtered them doesn't mean I didn't care for them and want them to have the best life possible.

      @whetlarper@whetlarper Жыл бұрын
    • @@whetlarper "The best life possible", lol. Everyone who exploits animals for profit purports to care. Zoos claim it's for their protection. Farmers say they keep the animals in "humane" conditions before they're slaughtered. At Neuralink the locked up animals participate out of their free will. The monkey probably signed a waiver before checking himself in to have his brain experimented on. What is the fundamental difference between this and human slavery. If someone treats their slave well and keeps them free range, you'd be cool with that too?
