Texas and my state (GA) have similar laws regarding traffic infractions/violations. I've been caught speeding, that is considered a criminal offense in GA, only got a citation, and I was super speeding. State law may allow an arrest, no reasonable officer is gonna arrest solely over it though (barring like 20+ over with multiple violations that would become reckless driving). Plus he admitted he was treated her differently because she was who she was.

Sure, pigs and their keepers TRY this stuff, but it never works. All body cam footage is a public record. Taking steps to keep the record from reaching the public, via muting and such, is at a minimum a violation of their policy, and in some states a crime of conspiracy.

But in a society where cops can throw you in a cell over something as insignificant as that, whether you are actually guilty or not seems inconsequential. Hell, traffic court in America is just the process of a judge asking the officer "are they guilty?". Even video evidence is ignored in favor of a cops word.

  • Under arrest for failing to signal a lane change. That is absurd, and 100% retaliatorily. IF she was guilty of that, which his dash cam clearly shows the blinker on, arresting her for a simple traffic violation is ludicrous. It may be constitutionally reasonable, it is patently absurd. How many people are arrested by this police department for a simple traffic violation when they immediately pulled over and were 100% cooperative? The fact that he admitted any other person that had done what she had done would have been issued a ticket and NOT arrested shows gross abuse of power. This cop needs to be fired. It is good Sgt. Scott for calling him out on it and telling him to ticket and release her, but he had NO CALL to tell her she was pulled over because her giving him the finger drew attention to herself and the supposed traffic violation, and she should not go around giving people the finger. Also, any cop that willfully turns off their body cam during a stop/arrest/interaction with the public needs to be fired. They only do that to hid things. If her phone had not been on and recording, this would be a lot different.
