    • I always thought the best part was the Huey, Cyndi and Kim verse. I’m 59 and remember this being done at the time. I think the theme was Leave Your Ego At The Door. Then the video came out and everyone was simply stunned. It was a special moment in time. The 80’s were the best.

  • I remember the World Premiere of We Are The World. I was 10. It was such an AMAZING time for music. I was a HUGE fan of the song. As soon as the documentary dropped on Netflix; I was watching. There were times I had a huge smile on my face and tears running down my cheeks. Lionel is an ICON!

  • Lionel Richie, my crush when I was in my twenties. I watched the making of the song and man Huey Lewis and Darryl Hall were having a really difficult time singing. Ugh! Cindi Lauper was between Huey Lewis & I think Darryl Hall (poor girl) as he struggled to hit the notes. Watching Steve Perry's face was gold. There were a few performers that I question how they got where they got in life. After about 4 maybe 5 takes it was acceptable.

  • Nelson Rogers actually said it broke madonnas heart not being invited. He told her they said it was because they didn’t think she could sing. It sounds like the truth got lost in translation. But she was so upset by it, that when the song was performed at the live aid concert, she wouldn’t sing it with them. But Nelson told her not to worry, because she has talent.

  • Madonna wasn't invited cause they thought her career wouldn''t last compared to Cindy Lauper & the media backlash to Madonna. Even La Toya Jackson and Sheila E. ended up in the video somehow. Quincy Jones thought Madonna was an absolute flash in the pan at the time, but admitted that her “career outlasted almost anyone’s in the room.” They were quickly proven completely wrong.
