My favorite video game cinematics of all time. Let me know what I missed in the comments and maybe ill make a part 2. I took quality, graphics, sound, emotion and intensity into consideration.
You can tell I've played a lot of blizzard games, World of Warcraft, Diablo and StarCraft have great cinematics. Assassins creed is always good as well.

even a 2010 cinematic can still hold up and look amazing today
Even I was surprised when I looked at the release date
I think they’re even better
@@Finis.Terrae That is not true at all, they have advanced greatly since then. Had you seen those trailers in full HD on todays monitors you'd see flaws. That being said its all about the creation, lights, angles, filters and how they are used. Any CGI from any decade will look bad if its in the wrong hands
@@DNSGaming well, even the cinematics of WarCraft 3 (2002) or Armies of Exigo (2004) are worthy challengers to this list. Blizzard and Black Hole are both very talented in this cathegory on their own right.
There has not been much improvement in graphics over the last 5-10 years, not to be confused with playing on larger resolutions and/or higher frame rates.
The SC2 openings are all amazing. Still looks incredible nearly ten years later.
they are somwhere between 12-8 years old now. Blizzard cinematics have always been incredible tbh.
@@WimukthiBandara except the ones far Dragonflight, they were all kinda meh
Godlike tier
ye eyyey eyeyeyyeeyye YEET!
Check out some of the 4k upscaled vids using AI. Incredible how much more detail all the vids can get, when in the original there were just blurs or smudged details.
That moment in The Old Republic trailer when he realises what he has just done is gut wrenching. The music syncing with the change of his eye gives me goosebumps everytime
the most incredible scene ever created, hands down.
And then the Emperor look at him in apathy with dith eyes.
The For honor trailer is an absolute masterpiece, how they switch from one faction to the other, from one type of warrior to another, the chaos.. everything... Just wish i could say the same for the game itself
I still think the game is pretty good.
@@backupaccount5784 masochist
Game is fire what are you talking about
It’s a great game still man !
The game is still amazing
The Brothers cinematic from the old republic is not only great looking but also tells an epic story. “Light and Dark sides unified” , isn’t that epic
Disney could redeem themself by making a whole Star Wars Old Republic moive using CG cinematic artwork.
@@rdnowlin1206 doubt disney actually made the game... and i have further doubt that the company that made the game made the cinematic for it though they prabably did
That is a piece of ART down to the smallest details. The brothers hold hands the same way over and over, helping up each other, until the last time, that last moment together. This short cinematic holds more passion and a more tragic story than all of the trash Hollywood produced in the last 10 years.
So sad
They need to make a series tv 📺
wow WOTLK is the greatest cinematic ever for me!!! Arthas rising as Lich King with his father's words echoing in background.... Perfect
Yeah, it's so great that Game of Thrones copied it! It belongs here for sure
blizzard cinematics always top tier
I partly agree with you in alot of aspects The World of Warcraft - Lich king Cinematics is on a shelf with a few others that has seen no peers. The Video that is in this list (dreanor) aint even in the same league. WOTLK is for me even better than the Burning crusade that i held close for a long time and is at breaking point of Diablo II cinematics (for instance the best of em : Act III). Conclusion is simple, Blizzard / Blizzard North before Activision bought our future and killed it was ALWAYS the best.
Arthas My Son is the best video game song ever created.
@@aniruddhbhatkal1834 How did GoT copied it??
Sam did an amazing job with the apprentice in the Force Unleashed series. Wish we had a third game. All I wanted was for the two o0f them to be happy.
I agree the Force Unleashed series really could have used more games.
@@MrBishop077 thank disney they cancelled the third game and every other star wars project when they bought lucasfilm
for me wrath of the lich king trailer was the best cinematics... the contrast between the narrative and Arthus's actions, the texture, color, all was perfect.
no king rules forever my son
I agree, though I do like Cataclysm's cinematic. Deathwing just looks really cool.
Absolutely
In-game when you finally reach the cinimatic in Northrend blew my freakin mind. Yeah it didn't look super great, but story wise it was awesome.
Gives me goosebumps everytime I watch it.
SC2 heart of the swarm is one of the best in the decade, especially after playing wings of liberty and seeing units being in the cinematics.
it's trash compared to legacy of the void intro
@@ulosen Dude really just said HotS trailer is Trash lmao
it is total bullshit if you compare it to shadow of war or to assassins creed
@@furkannarin2844 Youre the most Sarcastic Person ever, i like it!
too bad the game isnt to scale like the cinematic
Shadow of War's narrator (the voice of Shelob) is so well casted because she sounds like the movie narrator (Kate Blanchette).
Also the entire trailer is a banger. And the game is one of my all time favorites. Just saying. Hope they continue those games someday as an old ass 27 year old retired competitive gamer that only plays single player now 😂
Sorry but the black dude in the middle of a battle in a tolkien world just pulls me right out of the action
@pleaseclap5210 there were black men in middle earth. More so in Southern Rhûn but I believe there were still some
@@drewfrench5271 sorry but seeing a sub-Saharan in the middle of a Germanic/Nordic/Anglo-Saxon universe is just odd and out of place. That's like seeing A native American in a Greek Pantheon
@pleaseclap5210 yeah... I guess they probably wouldn't have intermingled much since the cultures were so different. Like think of all the Middle Eastern race mercenaries from Deep Harad.... I guess they would've never married or intermixed with the Numenorians
When i saw the title i was ready to see another "Top 10 World of Warcraft Cinematics" not gonna lie. ☠
I've watched the WoW "Warlords" Cinematic at least 10 times over the years and though I truly love ALL of the Cins Blizz have made, this one I still think tops the rest. Everything in it clicks, the artistry, the superb action, the importance of the characters involved, the voicework (oh man, the voicework) and the awesome backdrop theme music, just all blends into a glorious show. :)
I've always liked this cinematic the most because Garrosh saves Grom at the last moment, echoing WC3's cinematic that ended with his death.
It is really really good isn't it? I like how the fight plays out too so awesome the voice work in bliz is top notch. I wish they'd make more movies.
I live in hope of a StarCraft movie series one day. Definitely my favourite, the story is great.
Hopefully they will wait till all this woke BS has crawled back under its rock before trying.
Good luck with that one. I'm still waiting for a new Onimusha, or at least another Ninja Gaiden.
i thought the exact same thing the first 15 seconds of the trailer - you could honestly make legendary movies out of the lore
This is a thing about Activition Blizzard. They have been wanting to create a cinematic series of movies from most of their work, but the sheer cost of the production and distribution is off-putting to say the least. The movie Warcraft the Beginning is just an example of how off-putting the price tag on Blizzard's movie can be as they were forced to use actors and adapt the scenario to a simpler setup than they wanted due to the production cost skyrocketing through the sky. As one of my friend in movie production said: Activision Blizzard has a lot of talents in creating original stories and designs, but they don't have what it takes to make a commercially good movie. It's not about the talent to render stuff or the story or how cool looking stuff is looks, but about how you can make the content flow in a great way from start to finish, but while staying within the length desired and all that with as little change to the environment as possible because, in movies, changes is the costing bit.
Both Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War games are incredible. I absolutely loved the gameplay and the story. I really hope they'll make another game based on professor Tolkien's world
I kinda wish they kept it possible to be within the lore, like a, "this is wild, but it doesnt contradict anything so it technically could work if want to headcanon it". They abandoned that pretty early on lol But they are hella fun.
2:25 I still crying everytime I see the trailer to "Heart of the Swarm" . It was not just a crazily animated trailer, it was the long awaited revenge on mengsk and the continued story of Kerrigan and Raynor!
This. Years later, I still get chills and tear up the way I did when I first saw that trailer all those years ago.
that story was one of the worst stories in all of video gaming history
@@ifeelmetal What's wrong with you?
I like how for honor is literally the gameplay with environmental kills, friendly fire, switching targets, pushing, ledging, catapult and archers commands and close combat wall fizzles...god damn I love that game
You picked the Warlords of Draenor Cinematic over the Wrath of the Lich King cinematic. SHAME!
I was hurt too but the WOD cinematic had alot of action but Wrath was more about lore and the Lich king being badass.
@@bluegocrazy_3140 it's just that for me Wrath of the Lich King felt like the Freeza Saga of of DBZ. And Warlords felt like the bullshit story ass pulls Buu Saga had.
Wraith is better on lore, but the cinematic isn't as good. You see a guy wake up from a nap, wake a dragon from the ground, and a bunch of undead goons do a fist bump. It would have been better to incorporate some action in. WOD might be meh on lore, but the cinematic is a masterpiece
@@quinnmichaelson6793 I could get behind that sentiment. It was just exciting to see arthas again after not seeing him for so many years after Warcraft 3
And ACB over the AC2
This was fan fiction and was more lore friendly than what Amazon did with rings of power Tv series. I can't get over the gramma Celebrimbor adaptation there.
Yeah 😂
By far.
Man those early AC trailers 🤌🏼 hot damn
2:59 this scene right here was the reason i only did the viking build... yes, in the scene it was craped over by the swarm monster (i dont play startcraft for over 6 years now) but that landing... as a weeb who loves mecha animes, i honestly loved that scene
This should be every Blizzard cinematic in one video.
yeah if they did1 thing 100% right, it was their cinematics....
@@saschaschmitt592 and music!
@@saschaschmitt592 and concept art, character design, character voice lines/sounds, background music, battle music, ambient music. The "fuck ups" is usually 1 or 2 departments only. Like you wouldn't include the musicians an artists to the blame
@@Reddzion nah, the character design has been going downhill since 2016 imo, very hit or miss
@@orkaydk9430 that's fair :)
The SWTOR one is from an expansion not from the original core game. But ALL of the cinematic trailers from SWTOR are amazing!
as soon as i seen force unleashed, went straight to it. My opinion, this is the only trailer that still gives me goosebumps. And to top it off, thats how the game actually plays! Love it!
Blizzard knows how to make good cinematics. Literally had some revolutionary cinematics for their time in the early days.
dunno man, if compare something like sc1 cgs with something like parasite eve which released earlier, its not even fair how far ahead PE was. and if you compare the later games from square? ff viii and ix? and that's on a psx! then there was ffx and kingdom hearts 1 and 2.
star wars the old republic and assains creed cinematics always on top
The Diablo IV with Lilith and the blood membrane cape deserves to be on here
It’s a gate.
yup. that cinematic was absolutely legend tier.
THIS!
I was looking for this comment :)
That drop ship trooper cinematic for planetside is still one of the best for me. And I’ve never even played Planetside.
Okay but that whole sequence from 19:40 onwards is incredible and just feels so damn cool
eso was such a crazy game when it first came out, fighting in an open field 100v100 and then third faction come running it down. Was one of the first games where it felt like a big giant war happening. Sieging keeps with 100-200 people, defending one was truly great at the time.
all the ones by Blizzard give me goose bumps. good compilation!
Seriously badass such good graphics i don’t get why they didn’t jus remake the movie like that
@@lorddaquanofhouserastafari4177 because its very expensive
@@omnimoon3553 yeah I kinda knew that but it would have been way more epic and worth it haha 😆
@@lorddaquanofhouserastafari4177 agree but nobody will spend 300m $ on such movie especially when Warcraft didnt get much money
I remember there was a time that every gaming shop had the DC Universe Online intro playing on loop forever, that intro was amazing at that time, for me it's one of the best game cinematics ever.
That was the best thing I've seen from Star Wars since the original movies.
The opening cinematic from the 2019 Battletech game is an underrated masterpiece of storytelling. It doesn't have super detailed visuals or epic action scenes. It doesn't even have a single line of dialogue. In about two minutes it recaps the story of a setting with decades of history and highlights its themes in a way that makes even long time fans of the setting tear up by bringing forth every emotion from the setting's many tales.
When I saw the title of the video I knew that Starcraft 2 had to be there. Simply epic all its Cinematics.
Starkiller was so OP. Such a great game. They need a new one!
Agreed. So OP
THANK YOU FOR INCLUDING SC2 UNDERATED GAME WITH BRILLIANT CINEMATICS
Warlords was an amazing cinematic
The Assassin creed was the best imo, the music with it is just insane.
Blizzards cinematics are all crazy no matter what game.
Wow the Star Wars cinematic was hard. The father started to recognized "them" when there was only one left.
I still love ToR's The Return cinematic. They have some of the best lightsaber battle choreography of any Star Wars product
I have to say, I wasn't ready to see only one WoW cinematic here. I was not prepared.
The Old Republic trailer still gives me goosebumps
That WOW song tho! Goosebumps every time.
How they did this video and not included the cinematics from Diablo 2 is beyond me... Those cinematics are basically the reason cinematics are so good today... They set a whole new standard for the cinematics part of games....
that's what happens when stupid youtubers like DNSGaming make their own lists.
Yeah I was wondering the same. Diablo 2 Cinematic is one of the greatest ever.
last one was awesome
These are all amazing, but it's a crime the Dead Island cinematic is not here...
3:00 I really like that transforming aircraft looks sooo cool
StarCraft 2 Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void. And all the Star Wars Old Republic trailers together in chronological order.
Played them all, they’re epic. Where’s our movie series for both them?
The greatest video game cinematic is the opening cutscene from Sonic Unleashed. It was just perfect.
Amazing list but sadly you missed one above all... Wrath of The Lich King!
ElderScorlls lol... That WOD cinematic always gives me goose bumps.
Man... Heart of the Swarm was a turning point in the SC2 franchise and for the gaming industry in general, not only RTS. The trailer scenematics was a masterpiece of the contemporary CGI.
Be sure, if a SC3 comes out, it will be absolute trash and only money milking machine
turning point for cinematics sure SC2 is garbage though. SC:BW is a fucking classic. SC2 is just a reskinned WC3
Star Craft and the Black Flag Assisans Creed Trailer were hands down short films, not even video games, just brilliant short films! They have a story in just a couple of min which some 2 hour films fail to do.
These are all beast cinematic trailer dude! I love them all! THanks! the only wish i have for this trail video is Diablo 2 haha... but i get it... its sentimental for me, its just epic
Both of the games were great. Loved how the second one picks up exactly where you left off on the first one.
I love that you included Force Unleashed 2 that trailer was amazing
Final Fantasy 14: Realm Reborn is the best ever for me. The one with Bahamut exploding and destroying everything. SWTOR when the jedi is fighting Malgus and his Master is up there too. Assassins creed revelations i think was great as well
You could make a whole trilogy on just that one Star Wars the old republic cinematic
Another great one is Onimusha 3 Demon Seige. The time that the trailer was released (2004) was beyond magnificent.
yep, the ps2 has some amazing intros, kingdom hearts 2 as well, final fantasy x... so many amazing cinematics. but i guess they are "too old".
The Elder Scrolls, SrarCraft II & Star Wars: The Old Republic are superb 👌
blizz is always on point with cinematics
Blizzard is so overhyped. They sell cheap boring games that look like they belong on an IPhone.
@@homii4858 u are on some drugs or some shit
"What? you guys don't have mobile phones?"
Those skills Galen Marek throws around in the end is on par with the original six films. Kept me grinning.
I'll never forgot the Left 4 Dead 1& 2 intro movies, they were so damn cool when I first saw them and i still get chills watching them back to this day
2010 AC cinematics was so good that me and many of my friends thought that it was real people in the cinematic for until we realized it was not :D
The 3 introductions cinematics of Starcraft 2 (WoL, HotS and LotV) should be in this top.
Wonderful cinematics here, great memories too.
Opening intro scene to the Witcher 2 has got to be one of the greatest.
I think every TOR cinematic was breathtaking
17:28 The Elder Scorlls... So close guys so close. Lmao
little sad to not see sonic unleashed opening cinematic with is pixar levels in graphaics but damn these scenes were epic.
Just pure epicness
man force unleashed was on a different level back in the day, in both combat, and visuals. still really good 13 years later in both. i need a force unleashed 3. probably the best star wars game out there.
The last one is visually the bottom end of the list but starkiller has been my favourite force user since ive played the games. Love the fighting style and force abilities he uses.
Definitly better than any postlogie character…
There are countless reasons to shame ubisoft but that that For Honor trailer is just amazing.
the force unleased was sooo underrated I wish they would remake it or come out with a show or something.
D3 Reaper of Souls Cinematic was badass too „No one, can stop Death!!!"
The light Jedi was waiting the whole time to assassinate the emperor but once he killed his brother, he realized he had turned to the dark side
Old Republic cinematics are still the best
the star killer cinematic was amazing... right up until the Troopers just started walking up to him when they have guns.
this starcraft video is sooooo sick
As much as I like the KOTFE trailer from SWTOR, the one with Satele Shan and Jace Malcolm fighting Darth Malgus on Alderaan will always be my favorite.
Mine too
Blizzard will never disappoint with cinematics, thats probably the only thing they good at.
Forgot one more. It's old but it was a masterpiece back then Onimusha 3 greatest cinematic i believe at the time!!!
Heart of the Swarm and WOD were my favorite for years
Blizzard does best cinematics as always
Would love to see an animated series, just not by Netflix or Amazon
WOW Wrath of the Lich King! Still brings shivers to my spine....
Almost 10 years since SC2 Heart of the Swarm and the trailer still gives me shivers
Diablo 2 still has the best cinematics ever along with Halo 2 anniversary edition. For years I wanted Diablo 2 to be a movie. The whole wanderer story and him becoming Diablo was magical
Look up Sonic Unleashed opening cutscene, imo, for a 2008 game, that’s the best
I was looking for someone to point this one out.
Dang all that work and Sauron still came back.
They need a Starcraft movie made by the same people. (minus the immersion breaking Wilhelm scream) Grew up on that game and that cinematic is mindblowing.
I have have the all game change over time .I remember when I play space invades the 1st time I was 15 and got my 1st computer it had 20 md hard drive which I never fill up lol .that’s was wrong I have been a gamer for the past 40 years .it’s getting better all the time with the graphics..But i think the game should be 1st then the graphics most company’s the graphics are 1st..and we getting more and more blood 🩸 and 💀 in the game remember We see what we do Remember
You picked some relatively recent stuff… for the most impressive stuff in history, I’d say the opening for the title screen of Mechwarrior 2, Command and Conquer Red Alert 1, 7th Guest Star Craft 1 and Half Life 1 were mind bogglingly awesome when they came out. Of course it’s not an apples to apples comparison, but I think those games deserve a shout out.
War Thunder, definitely deserves to be among the best ever.
Half life opening for sure
dont forget final fantasy, chrono cross and so many other square games.
The intro to shadow of the beast 2 scared me as a kid 😅
Star Wars being on here two times love it
blizzard, king of cinematics
It's amazing that the art division of Blizzard knew their audience so well, where the game developers failed their player-base at almost every turn.
WoD for Warcraft's choice was ok but i think it could be better with Mist of Pandaria or even Battle of Azeroth. Yet... i know... WoW's lovers would choose WotLK but we speak about cinematic guys, not lore. No Diablo ? 😶
I definitely don't agree, MoP's cinematic is one of the worst in terms of character appearance. It's better than Dragonflight, but that isn't setting the bar high.
The first is the perfect cinematic I liked
Heart of the Swarm on release was so awe inducing still great!
I’m playing it atm.
