  • The glory hole is the one that scared me. I have a bizarre phobia of those thing. There is a smaller one at a reservoir near where my mother grew up. She took a friend and I to see it from the road as a detour while driving somewhere and even from the road more than 100 feet away, I freaked out; they combine my greatest fears - falling from a great height, and fast moving water than can trap you.

  • I dove the Great Blue Hole to about 180 ft on regular air... As you descend, the hole starts to expand on an outward slant with huge stalactites at least 12 ft long and several ft in diameter hanging down. There are a LOT of sharks. You need to keep a large carabiner on you to 'click' underwater as a warning signal because the colors fade and everything is a dull blue gray. I had a very large +10 ft shark swim right by me and I never saw it, but I heard my dive partner clicking his carabiner to warn me.
