Former Alabama Crimson Tide edge rusher Will Anderson is an athletic freak... and one hell of an NFL prospect. Here's how he projects at the next level.

  • an amazing thing watching will anderson and other great edge prospects is just how much they force lesser linemen into grey areas of holding. just takes an eager ref for anderson to kill an offensive drive. great breakdown on anderson!

      @BillyStephens@BillyStephens Жыл бұрын
    • Yes and no. Kyle Pitts, though basically a WR, was taken in the top 5, 2 years ago. Hawkenson top 10 before him. RB moreso, but saquon went #2 in 2018, and in 2017 Fournette and CMC were both top 10 picks. CEH went in the 1st recently, and Bijon Robinson is definitely going somewhere in the 1st this year. So really it depends, some RBs and TEs are still the driving force behind their team's offenses, even in the modern NFL.

  • Need to see him in the NFL. Alabama has a 3 deep d-line, so he got breaks during games. And them poor online men didn't and got wore down a lot. NFL has a two deep so him having to play 75% of the snaps will determine how he holds up!

    @taltezy2941@taltezy2941 Жыл бұрын
    • While that is true you also have to consider the other side of that 1) nfl offenses are much slower than ncaa offenses in terms of pace of play (not that many hurry up teams outside of 2-minutes offense). 2) a good offense will help him out but keeping the opposing team’s offense off the field and allowing more rest. 3) the rest of the d-line he will play with is better than what he had at Alabama and could allow him more one on ones or double and give his teammates more one on ones.

    @eugenepoon@eugenepoon Жыл бұрын
    • Wright is Anderson’s worst nightmare. Anderson either won in college with a bullrush or off a stunt. A stunt is not a 1v1 rep so it doesn’t count. Anderson is undersized for an edge. He will get swallowed by these behemoth tackles in the NFL. He will have a chance against finesse tackles like Kolton Miller, but the behemoths with length and anchor are going to eat him alive.

I mean will Anderson was more productive in collage than both watt brothers both bosa brothers,Khalil Mack,Myles Garrett and maxx Crosby he’s basically a slightly better von Miller prospect coming outta collage idk how he’s not the east number 1 defensive player in this draft

  • Wasnt good in the senior bowl, was manhandled by Wright.

    @indiandaeng@indiandaeng Жыл бұрын
    • Anderson declared for the draft as a junior, so he did not participate in the Senior Bowl. That game against Wright was underwhelming for Anderson! If he's manhandled like that in the NFL, then he might never come close to his draft status at #3. He won't be a bust because he is an elite run defender, but he might never become an All-Pro or perennial Pro Bowler like people expect. When teams figured out how to neutralize him after his sophomore season, he was much less effective and his sack total dropped significantly. His pass rush grade against drafted players the past three season is only ~ 65th percentile, according to PFF. Hopefully, DeMeco Ryans can develop him into a star, so time will tell.

  • Most overrated player in the draft. Anderson is not a freak athlete. He moves well for a smaller edge, but if he were a freak he would have done more tests than just a 40 at the combine. The fact is that Anderson is an undersized bull rusher. Tackles with length and size are going to shut him down because he doesn’t really have consistent moves he relies on other than his bull rush.

      @mexoutoftex2986@mexoutoftex2986 Жыл бұрын
    • @@mexoutoftex2986 That kind of argument shows how low your IQ is. Bill Belichick didn’t play D1 football. Is he not qualified to comment on a player’s athletic traits? Playing football at a high level doesn’t mean you can scout or coach players. If you play football at a high level, it is because you are big and fast. That is why the combine meticulously measures every possible thing about each player. Size matters. Speed matters. Will Anderson lacks both. Unlike you I can read numbers, and watch tape, and infer that Will is going to struggle as a 4-3 edge, because I am smarter than you.

      @jlmondragon131@jlmondragon131 Жыл бұрын
    • @@jlmondragon131 Where did I say that? Oh that’s right I didn’t. He will always be undersized. That will always limit his upside, especially because he relies on his bullrush almost exclusively.

      @sparringsessionswithkonnor4366@sparringsessionswithkonnor4366 Жыл бұрын
    • @@jlmondragon131 And as far as frame and athleticism are concerned these guys are finished products. Anderson will always have a smaller frame and always just have ok athleticism (for a 1st round edge). He might get a little bit bigger muscle wise but he will never be taller or more explosive. I don’t think he is a bad player, but the idea that he will ever be an all-pro edge rusher is laughable. Undersized bull rushers do not ever set the league on fire. The Texans might have traded Caleb Williams for a low upside edge rusher. That is insane. Stroud is probably a bust too. Texans had the worst draft in the league.
