  • Funny how the first bolt and hole drilled was not the same one when it came to the actual removal. The original bolt was snapped and has a ridge in the middle, your drill bit was forced off center and you were almost if not into the threads. When the shot cut to a close-up the snapped bolt was somehow nice and flat now and your drill bit was almost perfectly centered. I take it you found the first attempt didnt work so well and damaged the thread so a new bolt that was cut flat was installed and then drilled in the center so your removal would work and not cause more damage. Good job though. Next time use a center punch to start your bit and stay in the center so damage isnt caused.

    • Stanley ratchets are the best, way better than snap-on, Mac, matco, craftsman, etc, ive broke multiple ratchets, of course the cheap no names break easy, I broke a snap-on pretty easily, but the only Stanley I've ever seen break was my 3/8 drive Stanley with a 2" Stanley extension on it, had a 6 foot cheater bar on it, and a 350lb man jumping on the end of it a dozen times before it broke, literally jumping, the extension was twisted a bit but still usable, since the ratchet was my favorite one (my only black one) I robbed the guts out of my chrome one and put them in it and I still use it to this day, have used that thing a lot since I got it over 5 years ago and it's never skipped a beat, but it sure has taken a beating, I also have multiple other Stanley ratchets which are also my favorites, especially the extendable one, my husky ratchet is alright too, don't really like my craftsmans but they do the job, snap-on is way overrated and way overpriced

    • I had a woman that worked with my crew doing paint prep, Q/A torque checks and final assembly on cat 3116 and 3126 engines. Her first day in, the shop foreman had her do torque checks on some valve covers, 10 lb/ft if I remember correctly, while I was checking progress on 6 engines at our paint shop. I'm gone like 15 minutes and come back to find him at near stroke level bp. She had broken 12 bolts on 4 engines. I'm like HTF did that happen??? She had no clue why they were breaking so I handed her the torque wrench and told her to check the bolts on #5. She starts pulling, the wrench clicks and she shows no sign of stopping, so I immediately stopped her. I'm like "didn't you hear that click? You're supposed to stop at that point." She's like "yeah, I heard it but didn't know that means to stop." Foreman just throws his hands up and walks away. He hadn't asked her if she knew how to use a torque wrench, he just assumed...😂🤣😂🤣

  • On a side note To remove a steal screw from an aluminum part, mix some Alum in water, put it on some heat, put the part in and the steel will be dissolved and the aluminum untouched. It might take a day or even two depending on the diameter of bolt or screw. But when it's one of those that's impossible to drill and extract, this method can be a part saver.

  • First off use a left hand drill bit that way you aren't making it tighter by drilling into it second one of the best methods I have found is to weld a nut onto the broken piece and just take it out with a wrench like any other bolt. If you sheer it off again shoot it with pb blaster and wait or heat up what you are trying to remove the bolt from after welding the second nut on while keeping the nut as cool as possible (heat it up fast or if it's a big enough nut put a damp rag over it.) The temperature difference will cause the hole to grow in size by a few thousandths and let you screw it out easily.

  • The way to do this if its really stuck is to either a) drill out a new hole just a little bigger than the threads on the last bolt and re tap the threads (this is the preferred way so long as there is enough extra material) or b) drill a hole like this but tap it for a reverse threaded bolt and put a reverse threaded bolt into it and use it as a new head (you still have to unstick the threads somehow though.

  • Amazes me all these videos with non-real world problems. Cross thread it and let it rust a while and then try that great trick. Sure the hell not with a driver bit with those scenarios. Tech for 20+ and techs with less than 5 love to help the next tech out in just that fashion. So next show us drilling dead center till you're able to run that tap for the cleaning on center. 🤔Show me what #yougotSON!😉

  • Why remove a perfectly torqued bolt?!

  • The bolt wasn't seized. When the head broke off so did the tension. Couldve tapped it out with a nail and saved a torx bit.

  • The corrosion didn’t grow in place. In fact, it was all scrubbed loose on the way in. In the real world, you would end up paying a professional, if your variety of attempts/methods hadn’t already destroyed the surrounding metal. In the real world, that bolt head would have snapped off trying to LOOSEN it.

  • It would have been easier to hold a lighter under it to melt, then boil off/vaporize whatever cheap material that bolt was made out of.
