Can you release a longer version of this video? Lucas is so intelligent and I appreciate the background information and significance of all these places. This video was too short
Agreed. I could watch a 30 minute long version of this for all the restaurants in Hong Kong. Maybe they could pad out the time by showing more of the cooking process
I came here to watch cooking and ended up learning up the maillard reaction
Lucas has been amazing in every video he's in. Love the knowledge and style of explanation.
you can just see he loves what he is talking about
As a Hong Kong-er, I love how Lucas always try to go into the cultural influences of each dish/practice. It really help the audience to understand why things are done the way that it is.
I like the Kowloon!!!
never ever occurred to me that Da Pai Don = Big License Stall. OMFG.....🤯
Dude legit cooks with jet fuel. More badass than anyone else..
i meant steel #
soryy
Cooking with kerosene was very common in Hong Kong until town gas become popular.
@@kencube86 And when the Hong Kong government stopped giving licenses for it.
That Chef is literally cooking with aviation fuel. Mad respect.
Lol, plain kerosene is not aviation fuel.
Aviation fuel for jets is kerosene. Avgas is formulated for light aircraft. @@rajuaditya1914
I like Lucas speaking Cantonese. That wok chef is awesome with his yellow fit & white rubber boots. He was so nice to show Lucas the barrel of kerosene. I would eat the green bean stir fry & the jiew yeem squid. 😊
Dont forget the seafood chef with his teddy bear apron
I like it too -- the food came out fast and furious -- the pea shoots usually taste really yummy.
@@joshualiang3485 He resembles actor Anthony Wong.
Love how Lucas shines a spotlight on these amazing spots, how he gets so enthused about the dishes and how he brilliantly continues to educate us at the same time!

What is the name of this place so I can find it on google maps? 😭
I was hanging on to every word Lucas was saying. Lucas is a fantastic host, ambassador, and narrator of Hong Kong cuisine.
That wok cook, is a certified badass
My favourite chef of all times in Hong Kong!
This is one of the best things I've seen. What a great capture of culture, cuisine, and art. Kudos to chef Lucas for engaging the audience and the editor of keeping it simple and very high in energy.

I watched it again at 3/4 speed. :-)

just brilliant - your capturing an era of street food that will only be a myth in the future - and I have to say the fact you were geeking out just makes it so much better mate - I hope you keep doing more of these
I love how lucas explains the culture as well as the science behind the kitchen. Keep this guy on!

That was sublime. Made me feel like I was there. The cook is a rockstar.
Sublime + energizing; as Cantonese, we could almost taste the magnificent dishes as they came to Lucas' table.
How sad these places are disappearing! Glad other cities in Asia continue to support street food.

Hong Kong is a grail destination for me, beautiful
The flames are so hot it literally destroys the stove, wow🔥😮
This guy needs his own food/cooking show, plain and simple
Making me want to go visit Hong Kong and bring my kids. I was born there, but my family immigrated to the US when I was 2. Only been back twice, the last time was 1993.
Thank you Lucas!!! my family is heading to HK this summer and will order the same exact dishes. We also have reservation at Mott32 for their Crispy duck (unless someone else has a better recommendation) and Yat Lok for roasted geese.
Whoa chef skillz to the max
Definitively gonna try this very soon!
The chef dude is a machine!
I really hope you keep doing more of these videos. Its so nostalgic to see HK food, especially now that its a dying culture.
