  • Sad to say this kind of thing may not ever see again. Seeing UNC develop over that four year period that resulted in their two runs to the final four in 08 and 09 was cool to watch. I remember Hansborough's first game at Duke like it was yesterday. And seeing Steph Curry play in that 08 tournament was a treat as well. Looking back on it, that ability to go supernova was pretty obvious. I said after the sweet sixteen game that he was the next Reggie Miller as his ceiling hahaha. We could've gotten a rematch had Davidson somehow upset that KU squad.

Even though they made those 2 finals winning another under Roy I was glad, but this is the last UNC team I think of with Tyler, Ty, Ellington and green. Followed these guys like I did with 05 team and the 90's team's. Watching these guys stay 3-4 years angry go through heartbreak to winning was the best of them all.

  • On defense, Curry was really "on the ball," and caused, indirectly, several turnovers just because he was in the right spot. Very aware of his position versus the man he was guarding and moved to prevent his man from "setting up." Helped out a lot. Very impressed with his hustle, poise and evident court sense.

    • That is a moronic and ignorant comment, the type of nonsense that college basketball fans, who mostly ignore the NBA, spout way too often. This game was not about defense but about too many guys with bad hands and zero skills. The NBA game of today DESTROYS this travesty. The NBA of today has much better PURPOSEFUL ball-movement than what was on display in this contest. College basketball remains my favorite sport, but it hasn't been great since the 1990s and its peak was the 1980s. Authentic. Get a clue.

  • Steph then and now: 1. His conditioning was terrible, often really out of gas. He never is now. 2. The scheme wasn't designed to get him the ball. Especially in the first half he barely touched it. Only brought it up for a couple of possessions in the second half. 3. He was obviously way skinnier and that affected his ability to shed defenders on the perimeter. He couldn't push off effectively. 4. He wasn't in constant motion then like he is now. When the ball didn't get to him he'd just hang around hoping. 5. His legs weren't as strong so his shot wasn't falling as consistently. He did a lot of leg and core conditioning after his NBA ankle injuries and that helped his late game shot from three a lot. In college he obviously looked like he was pushing it a lot.

Took my uncle and he was confused why I thought he was so incredible, telling me man he's bad after the game. 😂 I reminded him he led the winning team with 26 points and something like 12 rebounds. Throw the ball at the hoop and out hustle everyone and put it back. I'd take 5 of these guy's in college but obviously not NBA. He was to undersized to be a true big and very limited athleticism to be a spread out big.

The younger the kid, the less they know how to play team basketball and set a screen, shot or pass fake, cut or move without the ball. So the only thing left is ‘iso’ basketball. Pull up a 3 or try to drive and shoot off the dribble. There’s one decision. I’m shooting. And they don’t even know when they shouldn’t be the guy shooting because they are mommy;s special snow flake. I watch these games with my 13 year old and he says ‘nobody could play’ back then except Jordan.
