Nothing to see here just buy last years model! What do you guys think?
So like a Macbook
This seems to be the case for a lot of this year's laptops. Great time to buy last year's models at a discount!
I agree get the last year model!!!
I've ordered the 2023 model because it has a better sticker placement. Thanks, Matt!
You made the right move!
I have the 2024 one and my god did the sticker guy has cross-eyes! 😂
That sticker alignment sealed the deal for me. LOL!
I ordered the 2023 model because it smelled better.
@@falcon127 LOL!
Thanks for the continued coverage on this machine. I am still quite happy with my 12th gen 2022 model
The great thing about this year's refresh is you can get the 2023 models at a discount.
LOL pretty much
Thank you for the honest review!
My pleasure!
0:01 love your analogies 😂
Thank you chief for always being reliable!
Always!
Thanks brother. I went for the 2023 model , intel i7 13700hx , rtx 4070 . And good with the purchase.
Where do we see so much of difference in battery life amongst the 2023 and 2024 variants?
Can you share the tools u used to open the lap? Please
Hi So I understand that this thing is literally the same thing as last year's model but look I want to get a new laptop. My 10210u with mx250 is not keeping up when I run 4 virtual machines on it. And I was thinking of getting the pro 5i. I wanted to get the 2023 model but for some reason it's more expensive on Lenovo's site. So I really want to know should I get this or not.
THANK YOU!!!
Can do any review on Legion 5i? Seems like a good choice.
is there a difference in bezel in p3 vs srgb?
Hi , thanks for the great content , I just bought a brand new Legion pro 5i Gen 8 , intel Core i7 13700 HX , Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU 8 GB GDDR6 , 16GB DDR-5 4800 MHz and while I was playing warzone on a display setting of 2560x1440 , 7,8 minutes into the game my laptop suddenly got turned off , now when I try too boot the RGB lights on keyboard are showing up but the Legion sign doesn’t come up ( black lcd ) , nothing comes up , tried holding power button for a minute , unplugged power button , let the laptop cool down but nothing works , I mean is this normal for a gaming laptop with this configuration ?
but where to buy old year model, Lenovo store does not have it
Waiting for your review about msi cyborg 14
this laptop is gonna attract customers to legion 5i and pro 5i 2023
Did they change the rgb wave animation? Its so bad on legion 5, instead of being smooth transition, it switches off and turns on.
i bought a 2021 Legion 5 Pro R5 5600H RTX 3060 for 700$ on ebay. i picked it up in person and checked everything. It looks like new (has been used with external monitor mouse+keyboard) the battery has still 78,5Wh /80Wh. I think if you can get a used one for less then half the price, you should do it. The new ones are just more expensive while being 10-20% faster!!
6G VRAM, though. Wasting that screen.
It should be worth buying jt,if I am upgrading from 2019 Acer Nitro 5 9th gen to Legion Pro 5i 14th gen ? 😳
I think the control key is more useful than the copilot key. I hope it is customizable.
Поржал с наклеек))) отличный обзор, спасибо!
The option to upgrade to a 100% DCI P3, 500 nit, 240hz display is decent for this model
I hope you review the Lenovo Legion 7 Pro gen 9 (AMD) version, if its 100% aluminium and 16 inch (like the Lenovo Legion 7i 16 inch white) but as Pro version with AMD APU. So far i see it will have a Ryzen 9 8955G 16 core with a RTX 5090 or 5080 GPU.
what about the LA1 AI chip?
Anybody know if it's a glass or plastic trackpad?
Does it have g sync?
Thanks for another honest review Matt. I think the new model would be worth it if the sticker placement was better.
You're welcome Bryan! I agree id pay extra for perfect sticker placement haha
Hello, Which laptop would you recommend for both gaming and my work involving databases and programming with Android Studio?" Lenovo - Legion Pro 7i 16" WQXGA - Intel 14th Gen Core i9 32GB - RTX 4080 12GB - 2TB SSD or ASUS - ROG Zephyrus G16 (2024) 16" OLED 240Hz - Intel Core
personally i would go for legion pro 7i
Anything new about the Legion Slim 5 14? I think people don't talk enough about it.
Unless there's a typo, the battery life is doubled compared to the previous year model. That's huge!
That is not totally correct. If you watch 1080p videos only then the battery life is a big improvement because it uses the new low-power efficiency cores. But anything more intensive than that then the battery life gains are nowhere nearly as significant, and for high performance work, it may be less efficient (see MaxTech XPS 14 -v- MB Air).
@@andyH_England Battery life benchmark used in this video was the PCMark Modern Office test so it probably isn't just looping a 1080p video. However, I still feel like maybe there's a typo for the older model. Can't imagine such a big change so I hope @matthewmoniz can clarify.
@@theMadMan74 Many YT reviewers caveat the PC Mark by adding that from their experience battery is circa 66% of what PC Mark says. I am not one for benchmarks as time after time they do not reflect real life. Last gen battery life is better than stated but not by much. I tested three 13th gen ultrabooks including the LG Gram 17 and Galaxy Book 4Pro360 and battery life for a mix of web surfing and browsing is around 8 hours on 200 nits.
It's most definitely a mid season refresh laptop it's equivalent to a steam deck OLED or more accurately like the switch OLED not much has changed a few tweaks here and there and that's it my guess Lenovo just felt like releasing a newish sameish laptop
5:04 Actually, DDR5 RAM is dual channel with one stick and quad channel with two sticks. That's different compared to DDR4 and earlier.
yes yes you're absolutely right. Just a bad habit of seeing two sticks and automatically thinking dual channel!
Beat me to it 😂
Can you please review Lenovo Legion 7i 2024
Sorry but the battery life is massively improved vs 2023 model, why you didn't mention it?
I purchased the 2024 model featuring the 14900HX processor, RTX4070, and 32GB of RAM. However, in hindsight, I believe I made a poor choice. I should have selected the 14700HX model instead. The i9 tends to run excessively hot, with temperatures reaching 100% when running games like FC24 or testing benchmarks like CR23 tests, often within just 4 seconds ( I have already done undervolting which gave be better results but not lower temps). Despite Lenovo replacing the heat sink, the issue persists. They are now going to replace the motherboard. I hope this problem is isolated to my unit rather than being an issue for the 2024 model.
how hot is it?
Bought the 2023 model a few weeks ago on a Spring sale with an i9, 32gb and 4070. This laptop is great.
2023 version & 32GB of RAM ;)
The previous model is the one to buy, it may be a bit cheaper. * Off topic, thoughts on the razer blade 18 with mini led display?
I need to get one in to test it out
Damn. I couldn't have bought pro7 4090 just because it got expensive (over $4500) therefore i was planning to get a 2024 model. It seems, 2024 models do not worth buying:(
how hard is it to add another drive? im eyeing this one with the 4070 in it
very easy to be honest
@@AshwinK0not sure which ones would fit, havent seen a video on it
@@TuneTamasha see samsung 980 pro and 990 pro
Keeping my Pro 5 gen 8 4070 I got for $1100. Great laptop, better than the m16 r2 I ended up returning.
How you got it that cheap?
@@lldrowsyll there was an eBay coupon from Lenovo official store for 15% off the already discounted price
Just bought a 2023 version at micro center today for 1400$
"The leaning tower of pizza"
want to watch a 2024 legion 7i slim review so bad
you should pick i7 14700 HX , thats the only cpu that has a good buff in the 14th generation
Same same but different but still same 😂 Btw waiting for the Legion 5i Gen 9 review
This is one of the best gaming laptops there is. If its not broke don't fix it.
We needed a 4070ti or 140w 4080. Huge missed opportunity IMO. 4070 mobile is the worst 70 release in years.
I almost thought that old man joke was about Matt with his shirt knowing his age a while back. Sorry Matt! 😢
LOL
Mama mia! The sticker on the last year's was a bit bad. The price is a bit high for the hardware. I hope there is an easy way to disable that AI key and even bring back the Control function.
The 2024 seems to have better battery life
It's always in the stickers!
Thats the real worth of a laptop!
so it is not worth it to buy the 2024? so nothing better just higher price and nothing different no more ports or better GPU watt cap
Nope nothing just a copilot key
Laptop this year doesn't have much of an appeal. Better off just getting last year's models for better deals and similar performance.
Ya thats the state of laptops this year
Not the same, I know, but I just got the 2023 Slim 7i (i9 + 4070) for a good price. I'm happy.
May I ask from where? Looking to buy one
@@Allhailourking I got mine from Best Buy Open Box.
@@Allhailourking Hard to find. I jumped at the chance ($2099 CAD)
I’ve seen quite a few i7 + 4060’s available, if open box isn’t your thing.
@@JimKanaris nah, I am looking to get a 4070/4080 in a good budget, I don't wanna go above 1500-1600 USD for a 4070 and wanna remain under 2k for a 4080 if possible. Also HOLY SHIT you got a pretty dope deal man, congrats
Wait! Isn’t it 500 nits? I remember leneovo sayimg it's 500
Only on 240hz afaik. Might be wrong tho
stiilllllllll no thunderbolt?
Nope
Fully black 🖤 🔥 1:56
Imagine getting a ryzen version of this lol
To Lenovo's defense, Apple has been going on with the exact same design of their MacBook Pros. Guess it just works, so maybe no need to change it for now.
Tech industry feels like it's in a dead zone at the moment, nothing going on right now. I guess the 5000 series release is the next big thing on the horizon, but we're still a few months away.
I agree. The only thing that was exciting this year was Framework's laptops. Sadly, they're still backordered, but I have my 16 inch model, and I love it!
We've reached a plateau in technology. Anything that comes out is only going to have small improvements, if any at all.
@@ABP8214 That's exactly why I think Microsoft (and Apple) screwed over so many users with the CPU requirements of Windows 11 and macOS 11 and later. They want users to upgrade. Unfortunately, if OEMs don't put anything enticing out and Microsoft keeps gatekeeping Windows 11, I think many people won't stay with Windows. I mean, I've already left.
We're so used to seeing tech evolve so fast the moment it slowed down it got real boring. Hopefully soon, Frore AirJet comes up with something big for gaming laptops and ARM for windows takes off now that it isn't exclusive to Qualcomm.
@Qimchiy ARM won't take off. I mean, Linux support for ARM is still not good; even though Qualcomm is apparently working with some Linux developers, the truth is that very few pieces of software that aren't FOSS work on ARM outside of macOS. Honestly, given that and the legal issues Qualcomm and Softbank are at each other, I think it might be too late for ARM on the desktop; we may have to wait for RISC-V, a RISC architecture that also happens to be royalty-free and is backed by Google for Android.
Its very interesting to see you all reviewers complain when the manufacturers use the same external desings and then also complain about that the environment is getting worse in general ahaha. Just saying from a supply chain POV, you all gotta seriously stop complaining about the "same aluminium top" and so on...
nice
Its not the same. This was released in 2024...vs 2023...so....not the same. Way to go Lenovo. Skipping this whole year laptops.
Apple did it woth the iphone 13 and iphone 14 and nobody questioned
Pizza?
This video is so funny :P
