Imo this fight really showcased how much has changed since Spiderman 2 in the Tobey trilogy. We don't see this nano tech later on in the movie and I really appreciated the showcase of old vs new in this fight

@@mono9702Fr though the CGI has gotten pretty bad, which I can almost forgive if the writing wasn’t shit too. I’m a huge nerd for superhero comics and movies, but I just cannot watch these new marvel movies. They’re either mid or garbage. NWH may have been purely fanservice but they still wrote a great story for it and the CGI is top notch. Can’t say the same for most new marvel movies. Don’t even get me started on She Hulk. It has to be one of the worst shows I’ve ever suffered through watching.
It goes to show you how skilled Tobey is. He was able to keep up with Doc Ock despite not having the Stark Technology.
Maybe because Toby's Spidey was actually fully intending on fighting and knew who he was fighting. Whereas Tom's was simply trying to escape and save that lady and he only just met this new enemy.

The sound design and animation of Doc Ock at 3:42 is incredible. The sound of him raising up past Peter is intimidating as hell.

One thing I love about this scene is how, unlike Spider-man 2, Doc Ock's human body doesn't take repeated strikes to the head and just keep going. As far as I can see, Ock himself only gets hit twice here (at 3:32 and 3:46), and both of them are Spider-man jumping onto his chest and kicking away rather than landing a proper hit. This fits in nicely with Ock's extremely aggressive fighting style, where he has to dominate the pace and keep his opponent on the backfoot because he's a glass cannon and is doomed if he actually trades blows. One thing I didn't love is at 3:05 when he gets slammed into the dean's car window hard enough to knock the entire car halfway through the concrete barrier, but apparently not hard enough to actually break the glass.
In the original it bothered me that Ock was still conscious after getting repeatedly struck by Peter, he’s still a normal human. Here this fight is much more believable

One thing they always capture so well is the way Peter struggles with *literally everything.* His shirt is a wrinkled mess, his speech is an unrehearsed dumpster fire, and nothing goes right on the first, second, or even third try. But then you get those moments where people realize how much he's carrying and do what little they can to cut him a break.

People ask why Doc didn’t recognize that Tom wasn’t the Peter he knew, here’s some points: 1. It’s not like he knows anyone else that’s under the identity of Spider Man, so there’s not a lot of reason for him to think it’s anyone else. 2. Even with the nanotech suit, Doc himself has arms that are somewhat autonomous (and the fact that he recognizes it as nanotech means it’s not too far off-base for Peter to have that kind of tech. 3. Different voice and suit don’t really matter much since that works off the same assumptions as the first point (in that there IS multiple Spider-Mans/Peter Parkers that he knows of), which- to his knowledge- wasn’t true (yet).
You forgot to add 1 more... . 4) Doc Ock had *no idea* that moment that he has "squealed" from 1 universe to another 😄😄😄

I don't know why but I think the Iron Spider suit really gives Tom Holland Spider-Man his signature look despite what everyone else says. If he appeared in the Across the Spider-Verse movie, he should wear that or the integrated suit just so we can tell it's him among the other spider people

Love this. The first time in the movie peter 1 starts interacting with villains from the other peters’ universes. This fight is great. I remember first seeing doc ock’s “hello peter” reveal in the trailer and I was ecstatic. This movie was, is, and always will be such an amazing and meaningful thing for spider-man fans. Thwip! 🤟🏻

He was disoriented and confused by his arrival in the MCU. Even for a man of science like him, his first point of reasoning wouldn't be that he'd ended up in a parallel reality

They played it a lot smarter here than Spider-Man 2 by not having Peter land any solid blows on Ock, at least not to his face or head. Which didn't really make sense in Spider-Man 2, since... Peter is strong enough to knock out a T-Rex in one punch and Ock somehow was able to keep going every time.
I guess another Dock Ock ability is to never lose consciousness. Which is why he cannot stay chill or relax. So if you want to beat him you should just chop his head off.
It's a matter of whether he was holding back or not. Obviously he's not trying to punch his head off so he's not hitting with his full force. It's probably also why he doesn't get gassed mid fight. Holding back means you can conserve more energy.

I'm not sure which tech is more difficult to imagine: The nanotechnology that makes his suit, or the software that can apparently make new UI elements for hardware that's not even from the same universe.
